Mr. Rogers' mere existence makes me cry tears of joy. Like, even in the episode you could tell Hank was like "Oh shit, it's Mr. Rogers. I can't be a bad neighbor."
I just found his documentary and I am so impressed with his character!!!! He was one of the finest human beings ever created...and also did more in the 1970s for making kids feelings seem normal and helping them navigate their little lives.God Bless Fred..One in a billion

Mister Rogers was truly one of the most wholesome people to ever walk this Earth. He’s that gentle, lovable, wonderful grandfather figure that always had a story, or a lesson to teach, and who offered nothing but love and kindness to us all. I watched his program as a boy over thirty years ago, and watching videos of him bring a tear to my eye. I am unashamed to admit I cry happy tears remembering him. Rest in well-deserved peace, you dear, wonderful man.

31 year old male and I used to watch Dr. Quinn, Murder She Wrote, Touched By An Angel, Columbo, Diagnosis Murder, etc. with my grandma all the time.

I remember watching Matlock, Murder She Wrote and Unsolved Mysteries as a kid when I visited my grandparents. Those and Lawrence Welk.
these are old comments. but i wonder; are these types of shows associated with a, sort of, Christian perspedtive/mindset Or is it less characterized by A colloquial sense of Christianity and more characterized by old people and their more mature secular sensibilities?
Watched Dr quin too and touched by an angel. Saturday night lineup was the best in the 90s. Remember Early Edition? That was a good one too.

Thank you for not poking fun at Mr. Rogers like many do who misunderstand him and instead honoring him- he's a huge part of my childhood and I'm a big fan. I enjoyed your vid, my friend. I remember that Dr. Quinn episode very well and was surprised and overjoyed that Mr. Rogers was a guest star. He left a great legacy and trove behind for young and old and we are blessed and fortunate to be able to explore it. He was a man with an enormous heart and great intelligence and the world is a better place for his seventy-four years on the earth. The Character of Tim the Enchanter was actually a blooper. His character was supposed to have a more elaborate name, but Cleese forgot it. So he improvised “Tim.”

I lived in the woods for a year of my life in the rocky mountains. Had to cut wood and empty a chamberpot among other things. Still went to school. Freshman year... hard times, long story. We watched alot of Dr. Quinn and Little House on the Prairie. My mom recognized and pointed out Mr. Rogers to me. I'm a pastry chef now for some reason.
He reminds of the relationship between Paul and Timothy in the bible.

One of my favorite factoids about Fred Rogers is that he was friends with George Romero. One of Romero's first directing projects was the special where Mr. Rogers had his tonsils taken out. Rogers even saw Night of the Living Dead and told Romero he thought it was "a lot of fun". It seems doubtful that Rogers was a horror fan, but he was clearly supportive of his friends.

The name "Timothy" is related to the word "timid". The character's name might have been a reference to the biblical Timothy, a young preacher who St. Paul mentored - which would then put Mr. Rogers, relatively speaking, in the role of the man who penned half the New Testament.
I feel like Brandon overdid the part about 'Tim'. It seemed like such a mean thing to do.
I'm a 23 y/o woman and I fucking love Dr. Quinn Medicine woman. Just two days ago I was telling my friend Rachel about how awesome the show was. I mean my mom introduced it to me and she's like 65. Sully's a babe, though, any age can appeciate that 😍

That was a cute ending and also kind of crazy because I’ve have that song stuck in my head for almost a week, even though I haven’t watched a Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood episode in ages. I even snapped my fingers with you, haha! I really like this mini-show. I look forward to the next episode eagerly!

Mr Rodgers was the soul of kindness but he was not weak. He had an air of strength and authority. But some men called him a wimp because of his gentle manner, nothing could be further from the truth!

Aw this made my heart happy! I was in the age group that was the last to grow up with his show on air regularly before he passed (I was in kindergarten or first grade when he died), and I’m so thankful for the reruns of his program that aired as I grew up afterward. It’s a really special part of my childhood, especially for the years when I was an only child, I really took to heart the idea of the Neighborhood of Make Believe and I had my own imaginary friend and a whole pretend world I created in my head.
I grew up watching Mr. Rogers and loved him. I was born in 1975.
True story, a friend was out with her parents for a walk, and who's coming down the sidewalk but Mr. Rogers. So of course being little she runs up to him because Mr. Rogers. As he was wont to do, he pulled her aside for a minute to give her time to speak freely, because kids don't always feel like they can talk with their adults around. So she says to him "Everyone says I'm a boy, but I'm really a girl."
"I believe you," he says back to her. 😭🥰 He really was that amazing.
When Mr. Rogers spoke to you even if it was just on tv, you got the sense that he was talking directly to you and even though you were just of all the millions of children in the world who watched him, you felt that you were the only one he was speaking to!
Just the way he looked into the camera and addressed everyone was what made him so special!
We need him now more than ever!

Dr. Quinn! I used to watch that with my mom when I was a young bab! It used to air right after “Walker, Texas Ranger”, but I never saw this particular episode. I would have flipped, seeing Mr. Rogers in that show...

Same here (31 and female though), but I had to laugh cause I actually also watched it at my grandparents house, haha... Idk if it was really that great a show or if I just liked it so much better than pat Roberson and the other boring stuff they'd watch, but I definately did enjoy it!
We didn't get the channel at our house (at least, if we did, I didn't know it... We didn't get much control over the TV at home, either, lol) so idk how it woulda stacked up against anything else we had avalible to watch, in a "not grandparents" context, but regardless, it really seemed to be a good quality show, and Mr rogers being on an episode certainly supports that idea!

I'm a middle-aged woman, that likes your channel, and absolutely adores Doctor Quinn (I've a copy of the series as well). I hope you've tried watching it since you posted this video. It's very heartwarming.
I've recently been watching/listening to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood when I come home from work. Especially when I feel like shit. It's really relaxing to just listen to him talk. I didn't really appreciate him when I was a kid but damn he was a really unique and kind person. Thanks for this video and giving us even more insight on one of our favorite neighbors.

I saw this episode when it came on. I waited and waited and waited for him to show up and he didn't come on until the very last few minutes of the show. I was kind of disappointed. Not in his performance, but the fact that I had to wait for so long for him to show up. I wish they had made him do more than just that.

I used to LOVE this show. My dad would watch it with me. We used to also watch touched by an Angel. Mr. Rogers was one of THE best people ever to be on earth.

I, a 31 year old male, used to watch this show every week. But to be fair, it really was the best show in its time slot, in Ukraine, among the 3 or 4 other working TV channels that we actually had back in the mid-90s.
Drunk history just did a segment on Mr Rogers and I went back to watch the committee appearance. Then saw this. Weird world.

I remember that episode and that's funny because in France we have absolutely no idea who is Mr Rogers, so I assumed it was just a random actor. Thanks to the internet I now know who is Mr Rogers (kinda), but almost nobody, in the 90's and nowadays, knows who he is in france. Sorry for my potato english and keep up the good work :)

I watched Dr Q MW quite a bit with my folks growing up, but forgot he had been on this show. We need another one like him. Thise kind of feel good shows really do need great writers to keep them believable yet sweet.

Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman was my favorite TV show during that period of time. I also worked on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood twice--once as a kid, and once as a teenager. Yet, somehow, I managed to miss him on Dr. Quinn! So, this was an interesting find for me.

I'm from the UK and Mr. Rogers' Neighbourhood never aired over here so I didn't grow up with him but I have seen the movies Won't you be my Neighbour and A Beautiful day in the Neighbourhood and because of those I really admire Fred Rogers. I want to check out this episode just because Fred Rogers is in it.

I'm a guy and I loved the show. Saw it as a teenager on Saturday nights in the 90s and watched it again in my 30s with my dad as we watched together for nostalgia before he died. He was dealing with It PG, like COPD. Anyways, a lot of us guys can identify with this shown and the different characters. This actually was my favorite episode. Great analysis.

Yes, I saw it. And then I was "Oh, it's Dr. Quinn, time to change the channel." With apologies to the people behind that show, but I had *zero* interest in it. If it makes you feel better, I also used Jay Leno's Tonight Show as nothing more than a timer to know when Conan was on.

I remember watching Dr. Quinn on a regular basis with my family when it aired. Saturday nights right after Star Trek: The Next Generation, we would gather in the living room or sometimes my parents bedroom and watch it. The stories really spoke to us on a personal level. Especially since my father is a doctor. We even visited the set during a vacation to California one year.
As for this particular episode, I am sure that I must have seen it. Not surprised that Hank tried to scam Reverend Timothy, he was frequently up to no good. Fun fact, the actor who played Hank (William Shockley) made acting debut in Robocop (1987). He played the would be rapist that Robocop shoots in the groin.
I remember Dr Quinn and I'm from Portugal, so I'm sure a lot of other folks will remember.

Mr Roger's was an actual Presbyterian minister and was ordained in 1963.
People put off by parts of this episode: People older than the host. People who watched and enjoyed Dr. Quinn. People who are not men. People named Timothy. People easily distracted by kinked earbuds. People unsettled by men's underwear. Lizard people pretending to be Presbyterians. :P
The polaroids are one of my favourite touches of his personality. It's mentioned in Tom Junod's article, that Mr. Rogers would send these pictures to his wife to show her all of the new friends he had made. He somehow maintained a sense of wonder and innocence throughout his entire life.

How could I be so stupid? When I was very little, I thought that Mister Rogers was the creepiest person on Earth. And after he died, I began hating everything that he loved. Then years later, I got mad at him for dying of stupid stomach cancer. But now, I don't think that he's creepy and I'm not mad at him anymore.
