Io ero presente quel giorno allo Stadio Olimpico di Roma. Era la rivincita di Italia-Germania 4-3 ai mondiali di Messico 70. X me all'inizio fu una delusione perché non giocava il mio eroe del calcio Gigi Riva. Poi la partita fu bella, intensa e combattuta x la presenza di tanti fuori classe da Mazzola a Rivera da Beckenbauer a Netzer. È uno dei ricordi più straordinari della mia vita. Giovanni Cherubino

Competition between these two Teams is always at high level.
I love to watch football of mid 60s to mid 70s.
Look at the world class midfield generals in this game: Overath, Netzer and Rivera.
Not to mention other great giants: Zoff, Beckenbauer, and Gerd Muller.
It simply is a joy to watch them playing the beautiful game.
I wish this clip was longer.
There is another great friendly between Italy and Brazil in 1973 which Italy won 2-0 (to the best of my memory).
I only watched a short clip with not so good quality; hope in the feature you can provide that and similar games.

Is the ball heavier that time, tempo is slower than today's soccer, but the game is more beautiful to watch . Amazing players skill and technique.
Balls did become progressively lighter, so you are right, the ball is a heavier one.

Grosser WM Favorit 1974 Italien ?? Kläglich in der ersten Runde ausgeschieden 1:2 gegen Polen, vorher mit Mühe und Not gegen Haiti sich zum Sieg gerettet. Una gara cazzata in quest' anno
Sie galten dennoch als Favorit da sie einen Kader hatten der vollbesetzt mit Weltklassespielern war. Aufgrund von Unstimmigkeiten innerhalb der Mannschaft (hauptsächlich um den Stürmer Chinaglia) hat das Team nicht das ganze Potential abrufen. Mit Argentinien und Polen sind sie dazu noch in einer extrem schweren Gruppe gekommen die sie aufgrund der Tordifferenz trotz Punktgleichheit nicht überstanden haben...danach kam der Neuaufbau durch Enzo Bearzot und Italien wurde 4. bei der folgenden WM und spielte einen fantastischen Fußball (gewann in der Gruppe gegen Gastgeber und späteren Weltmeister Argentinien) und bei darauffolgenden WM in Spanien wurde man Weltmeister und schlug alle Favoriten hintereinander...Argentinien, Brasilien (Polen) und im Spaziergang im Finale Deutschland. Bis heute der beeindruckendste WM-Sieg einer Nationalmannschaft
ich war damals im Stadion in Stuttgart, als I gegen Polen verloren hat. Das Stadion war voll von Azuri, die gebrüllt haben. Nach der Pause hat man fast nur noch der kleine Haufen von vielleicht hundert Polen gehört.

Die WM-Historie ist voll von Top-Favoriten, die letztendlich die Vorrunde nicht überstehen sollten.
@@EVOZORE So ist es. 3 Klasseteams und eines davon musste dem Reglement nach auf der Strecke bleiben. 20 Jahre später überstand Italien die Vorrunde lediglich als einer der 4 besten Gruppendritten - und stieß danach bis ins Finale vor.
Wie es 1974 weitergegangen WÄRE - Italien anstatt Polen in der Wasserschlacht von Frankfurt gegen die BRD? - bleibt freilich reine Spekulation.
Damals wurden die Spiele exakt nach 90 Minuten abgepfiffen! Da gab es keine 90+8!

4-5 months before the world cup, Netzer and Heynckes are in the team. With a fit Netzer, Germany would have certainly better played better games.

The Coach took Netzer out of the Team after the first round during the World cup 1974. Overath Was better in national team and Both together did Not fit. We needed also someone to work and run on the pitch. That Was wimmer, he also played for gladbach as netzer.

Dont watch any ''modern'' football any more. Absolute sh**. Give me these 70's 80's matches all day long. Atmospheres are something else. Sound klaxons/horns, ear splitting crowd noise....and european teams that actually had 11 indigenous europeans in them.
