This album and the drum solo in swim to the moon made Blake Richardson one of my favorite drummers. And to this day this album is a reference for an awesome drum sound. I LOVE the Snare-Sound.
Man, this review brought such a smile to my face. Such a pleasure seeing METALBRO hear "Swim to the Moon" for the first time. Took me back to being 15, opening up the special edition CD, and letting the music take me to a different planet. When I first started listening to BTBAM, Tommy's harsh vocals took some getting used to, but I came to love how distinctive they are from anything else in metal. As an aside, the Colors anniversary tour was one of the best shows of my life! Cheers fellas.
I love how genuinely excited you get showing your friends and gf music Metalbirb. Reminds me of myself it's almost cringey just because I know i do the same exact thing lmao. Not a diss on you or anything been watching y'alls videos for quite awhile now. Keep fuckin rockin' bro
It’s funny how reading the comments and watching the video, how exhausting people find these longer songs to be. When I listen to this or white walls or silent flight parliament or human is hell the songs just breeze by for me. Never a dull moment. I’ve seen them live many times and have heard white walls live many times and it’s always a good time. I’ve been lucky enough to see all of their 15 minute plus songs live human is hell is next on the chopping block. I will hold out hope that they do a colors 1&2 tour some day.
Damn metalbirb....you started him with their longest song! Ambitious! Glad you did! This song is incredible. I love metalbro so much more now that he Loves my favs in btbam. You should have shown him the new remaster/remix of this song!!!! Metalbro would absolutely love the new production. I wish btbam was on this channel so much more!
BTBAM got me into Metal. I couldn’t stand screaming before then. Even at first when I listened to these guys, the musicianship was so good, I would just block out the screaming. Now I prefer it! The problem is, they are so good. I can’t find anything else I super like. I compare everyone to these guys. It’s hard to get super into another metal group. This has been for years now. Anyone have good recommendations? I’d greatly appreciate the help! A few others I’ve been able to get into a little is. Periphery: but, I saw them live and they were awful. NeObliviscaris, The Human Abstract and Persefone: All very good, not enough material though. Devin Townsend is incredible! Not enough good songs though Btw Dream Theaters vocals is awful. BTBAM is like Dream Theater, but on steroids.
Was the same for me. I listened to the intro of Alaska over and over again until i got sick of restarting the song every 30 seconds and eventually would listen to the whole song and it eventually grew on me.
I agree with everything you said dude. I heard the intro to Alaska and was fucking hooked. Developed the taste for growls later. And yes, literally nobody compares to theee dudes, and it's pretty fucking frustrating lol.
AngryBob4213 I saw them in the same venue I saw BTBAM in Boston. I was worried about the sound when I saw BTBAM after them ( not the same concert ). BTBAM was still incredible. Also just look at their live stuff. They released that live video of Reptile. I couldn’t even watch. It sounds NOTHING like the album. It could be their sound guys? It was the worst concert I been to. Chon was way better...
Check out Prologue by The World is Quiet Here! They don’t sound exactly like BTBAM but you can tell that they are massive fans. It’s a little more djenty but still a really cool band!
Man growing up with you guys since kindergarten, listening to a lot of the same music, and now watching these reactions videos to bands we love is so awesome! Congrats on the success! I have so many videos to go through lol.
It's 10 years since I first listened to btbam, and they still manage to blow me away with songs i know. Love 'em! Try Gorod - The Mystic Triad of Artistry. Imagine Gojira, Necrophagist and Obscura combined. Prog death greatness.
I nearly did a spit take when I saw this holy shit man! prog that you both don't know, Uneven Structure - 8, a 24 min 'track', it is technically an EP but it flows as one song, and yes, it's pretty much the same length as Octavarium
This album had so much to live up to because Colors was SO sick. At the time I enjoyed it came out I loved it, but it wasn't quite on the same level as Colors... But honestly it's aged a little better than Colors for me. Maybe it's because I rarely find the time to listen to Colors in its entirety anymore though.... Either way this song is a classic in my book. Blake is such a beast.
I felt the same way. I was lucky enough to see them last year when they played this album in its entirety and now it’s one of my favorites if not my favorite from them. Colors 2 is getting up there as well now
Between the Buried and Me is quite possibly my favorite band of all time, and even -I- have trouble with Tommy's vocals sometimes. I miss when he used to at least change up the levels of harshness more than medium / medium well.
Did anyone else notice the similarities in the riff in this song and the riff in Dream Theater - In The Presence of Enemies (Part 1) or was it just me?!
For me getting into BTBAM was a natural transition from DT. It wasn't hard at all. Only the extreme dissonant parts are less digestible if you are more interested into the musical aspect and not the headbanging.
Man, I really like Tommy! Fair enough that someone doesn't but his vocals are just getting better! Have you listened to their twitch colors show? That guy is insane! And the whole band of course
You both must be tone dead af then. This is some much like DT it's not even funny. They're just a heavier and more dissonant version of them. To see the ignorant comment from someone saying BTBAM shits on them has to be because you've actually not have listened to DT much at all.
The riff at the beginning and the end of Swim to the Moon is musically and rythmically very similar to the riff at the start of DT's 'In the Presence of Enemies Part 1'.
First. You need a Gojira and a Between the Buried and Me Marathon or do full album reactions both of you I want to be the person to suggest the Gojira album and I want you to do the link alive. Full album reaction on Colors by Between the Buried and Me
BTBAM is my favorite band ever. You dont understand the excitement i had from watching this. Yall should do more BTBAM. Show him Voice Of Trespass or Extremophile Elite next! Also you just gained a subscriber 🤘🏼
Need to check out more A7x confirmed. Thought you heard City of Evil, although it's probably been a while. Sidewinder is one of the better songs on the album imo. Dive back into City of Evil and check out more of The Stage.
Long video.....but i feel like im litsening with u guys and im able to litsen through the whole song......by the way what does prog mean.....and i was at the time when u guys said most of the people would have ended before in 27. something....any ways ....im telling it again and again....plz try to litsen to tethra the hourglass........the full album if u are intrested.....or atleast one song......and the guitarist of that band i.e cj masciantonio has also worked with babymetal i think.......i saw ur baby metal videos yesterday......i liked one song over all others......Road of resistance........any ways kep rockin!!!!
Prog stands for progressive. This can mean many things, but is often associated with pushing known musical boundaries and incorporating multiple genres.
Dude on the left looks like if Brendan Schaub had a brother who wasn't redacted. (Sorry I know that sounds rude, but I couldn't help myself, but at least he has a nice trugg)
Lol dream theater wishes they sounded like this
Yes, this. Exactly this.
metal fans are the only fans of a particular genre of music that dick measure more than hip-hop fans. it’s childish and gross tbh.
This album and the drum solo in swim to the moon made Blake Richardson one of my favorite drummers. And to this day this album is a reference for an awesome drum sound. I LOVE the Snare-Sound.

This is my favorite all-time song. Cudos for joining the other two reactors on RUclips to feature it 🤣

My favorite long song from BTBAM is Silent Flight Parliament. You should definitely show him that when he has recovered from the prog fatigue lol
BTBAM got me into Metal. I couldn’t stand screaming before then. Even at first when I listened to these guys, the musicianship was so good, I would just block out the screaming. Now I prefer it! Where did you see Periphery that they were awful? They sounded amazing when I saw them! Maybe it was just the venue?
AngryBob4213 I saw them in the same venue I saw BTBAM in Boston. I was worried about the sound when I saw BTBAM after them ( not the same concert ). BTBAM was still incredible. Transcendence would be great as well.

Colors and the Great Misdirect are two of the best metal albums of all time easily
Thanks for the jouney down memory lane. I haven't heard this all the way through in a long time. Their whole discography is pure magic.
I think you should do the coma machine reaction to show him how they changed
One of my all time favorite bands also!
This album had so much to live up to because Colors was SO sick. At the time I enjoyed it came out I loved it, but it wasn't quite on the same level as Colors... This album is so amazing. Such a perfect ending to an epic album.
This is my all time favorite song and it's not even close. Is it perfect? No, sometimes it's a complete mess, but the highs are so high
YES DUDE, FINALLY! I asked for you to show BTBAM to your girl or a friend again, I hope you keep doing this :)
I just always had a feeling it sounded like DT but I couldn't place it! Good analysis man
And yes plese show Metalbirb dome dank ass Dreamtheater... I can't think of non cheesy breakdowns but maybe something from Train of Thought?
@@Laros82 everything DT does is cheesy. That’s part of their charm.
Riff at 15:16 is easily one of the best they've ever written
I thought the same thing about Tommy's vocals the first time I heard them. Then it REALLY REALLY grew on me.
For me getting into BTBAM was a natural transition from DT. It wasn't hard at all. Only the extreme dissonant parts are less digestible if you are more interested into the musical aspect and not the headbanging.
YES!! So glad you did this!!
I'm always here for some BTBAM
This one came out in 2009. I was blown away when I heard this album first time
Slide into the water
The more prog, the merrier
Great video guys we want more btbam lol
I agree MetalBro, Sidewinder is such a sick A7X song. You definitely need to show it to MetalBirb
You guys gotta get over the vocals! DT and Btbam are the 2 greatest bands ever!!!
DUUUUUUDE YES
Yes!!!!!!!
Man, I really like Tommy! Fair enough that someone doesn't but his vocals are just getting better! Have you listened to their twitch colors show? That guy is insane! And the whole band of course
Sidewinder is excellent
So funny how quick dudes face says yea Dream Theater can’t do that😭 just seen btbam in NC! So fuckin on point!🔥
ALPHA WOLF - BLEED 4 YOU
This is nothing like Dream Theater!!! This is Prog at it's best!!!!
Credit to DT for being pioneers, but yes, BTBAM shit on them.
You both must be tone dead af then. This is some much like DT it's not even funny. They're just a heavier and more dissonant version of them.

There are 4 choruses in this song? What a pop rock

Yo, metalbro's got a Monstercat necklace!
“This sounds like a Dream Theater song”… NO BUDDY. THIS IS WHAT DREAM THEATER WISHES THEY WERE
I got slight sikth vibes from this band I'll have to check some of their stuff
Check out "Revenant/Guise of Complacency" by A Sense of Gravity. Super heavy prog for ya!
check out The Dialectic - 'The World That Hell Built'
Alpha wolf- bleed 4 you !! U got to react to this
28 minute video?? Bro.
🤣
You're going to HATE this song lmao
METALBIRB I’m not smart enough for this music (Richard)
Second half of the song is much better than the first half, imo
I was jamming for about 10 minutes then the rest became punishment. I think the only long btbam song I love to death is sun of nothing.
Dreamhouse by Deafheaven!!!!
Sidewinder! RIP Rev. Excellent album. AX7 is not nearly as good without him.
Please please pleaseeeee react to Dir En Grey- Vinushka
Or Dir En Grey- THE IIID EMPIRE
Long video.....but i feel like im litsening with u guys and im able to litsen through the whole song......by the way what does prog mean.....and i was at the time when u guys said most of the people would have ended before in 27. something....any ways ....im telling it again and again....plz try to litsen to tethra the hourglass........the full album if u are intrested.....or atleast one song......and the guitarist of that band i.e cj masciantonio has also worked with babymetal i think.......i saw ur baby metal videos yesterday......i liked one song over all others......Road of resistance........any ways kep rockin!!!!

I would pay money if you guys
would react to “SEX ED ROCKS” by Smosh and ismfof!
Dude on the left looks like if Brendan Schaub had a brother who wasn't redacted.
(Sorry I know that sounds rude, but I couldn't help myself, but at least he has a nice trugg)
React to Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars
ALEX TERRIBLE - Slipknot - Disasterpiece VOCAL COVER
While I listen to a lot of BtBaM I just don't like the singing not the harsh vocals and not the singing
