Good vid man, perfect intro to tune up basics on a small engine. This will make a good future how to video for the young aspiring kids who are lucky enough to have these kinds of bikes. I also liked your tried and true tip about shutting off the fuel valve and letting the gas run out of the float bowl to prevent future corrosion in the carb especially with ethanol based fuel.
It's funny so see how similar small engine work. As a hobby I repair lawnmower and sell them, preferably Honda's. And this just looks so similar! Fun fact, as an owner of a 125cc bike, it's weird knowing that the lawnmower that I usually work on have more cc's 😂 Liked the video a lot, thanks! Btw, if you are going to work on more types of engines, i'd really recommend getting a ultrasonic cleaner, best purchase I have made this year.
That's awesome Kyle. If you're looking for ones like I have on mine they're just BMX bike handlebars, and Honda bar clamps from an old dirtbike (XR70 or something I think).
Congrats Jason on 40K! I gotta say I'm feeling inspired now.. I've got an '85 Honda ATC 70 three wheeler sitting at my parent's house from when I was kid and now I wanna rebuild it! 😄 Great vid, good to see you buddy!
Where did you pitches that handle bar from because I have the same bike it has been in the family since it come out and it is still running like new but def need that handle bar
Great video! I have a '93 in great condition that exactly as you said, my Dad purchased for me when I was 8, that I'm looking to sell. Where would you suggest I list it? I called a local dealer (actually, the place it was purchased nearly 30 years ago) and they said they'd buy it but I'd do better online. Thanks for your time!
Great question... it all depends on where you live. I'm seeing them go for $2500 or more in the PNW. Rougher ones are still listed for $1000-1500. I'd list it on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. I recently sold a CT90 that I didn't have time to restore. I listed it on CL and shared it on several Facebook groups. I immediately had 4 people trying to buy it. But honestly, if you keep it it'll just keep going up in value.
Hey dude! I've been subscribed to you for a while now, but I just noticed today I'm not seeing your videos unless I actively go look at your channel? Is this a RUclips algorithm issue? Im only subscribed to a small number of channels (like 20), but haven't seen much from you lately!
Mechanically, yeah likely the same. Start with a carburetor rebuild most likely, then valve adjustment, oil change, and check the spark plug! Good luck. These Honda bikes can last forever.
It's funny thinking I rode a 71 Honda mini trail at the age of five because it weighs about as much as my Hayabusa does now it feels like I swear in comparison

CONGRATULATIONS on 40K Subscribers!👍
Thanks Sir!

I ordered an ultrasonic cleaner today!
Oh holy crap! A new Jason explains things video, what a surprise!
😂🤣
Most informative video I’ve ever watched. I feel like I’ve actually learned something.
This gave me the knowledge to get my childhood dirt bike going. Thank you
Keep at this. Your videos are well put together. Good editing! You're going to take off on your subscriber numbers at some point!
Thanks for specifications that's what I was looking for
Dude you’re the best! Also digital tire gauges are the best!
Thanks! I’m not the best, but I’m having fun.
Great video. Gives me the confidence to fix my childhood bike. Now i just have to find those handlebars for mine.

Great vid, good to see you buddy!
Awesome! I’ll be doing some more Honda videos in the coming months... both bikes are 90cc from the 60’s.
@@JasonExplainsThings Sounds awesome can't wait!
Can you post your exaust specs if possible? New sub thanks for the video!
Good luck friend
Same happened to me except he bent the right lower fork pipe and sadly the left lower pipe is the only one available
That is a creative pronunciation of molybdenum!
How wrong was I?! 😂
@@JasonExplainsThings Pretty not that close, I'd say!
I have a question when I crank mine it doesn’t start after adjusting the carb if you know can I can some feedback? Thanks😊😊

What should I do if I unscrewed the 14 mil bolt next to the 17mil oil plug
Rad. Who was that handsome brown guy riding your bike? 😉
I don't know... but I'm super jealous!

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed that on my end. Best thing you can do is turn notifications on (bell icon). It’s really frustrating.
great video, where did you get your handlebars from?
I honestly don’t remember... probably Amazon
They are sweet. Have a few of them nice video
I sub coz of this video...since I love this small bike
Awesome. I have another classic Honda video coming pretty soon. Probably in 2-3 weeks.
Thanks for this video!
Where can I find these handle bars? Do you need longer throttle and brake cable?
I don’t remember but I think they’re from Amazon. I did need to get longer cables. It’s a great mod for us tall guys.
Is this the same for a 1984 z50? Mine has been sitting for 20 years
Mechanically, yeah likely the same. Start with a carburetor rebuild most likely, then valve adjustment, oil change, and check the spark plug! Good luck. These Honda bikes can last forever.
@@JasonExplainsThings thanks. I’m going to replace most of those.

🤣 I don’t doubt it!
What is the black piece on the carburetor
Air filter.
Where did u get that exhaust
Came with the bike.
Capacity is .8 liters or 27 oz not 22 oz.
Use motorcycle oil. The oil is not just for the engine but also for the clutch. Automotive oil is not a good idea.
That is motorcycle oil.
The nut for your front brake cable is on backwards. Great video, otherwise.
Would this work for a 1979 mini trail?
Most likely yes. Valve lash might be different so you might want to check that.
@JasonExplainsThings alright how do I do that?
