I am buying nothing in 2024. In fact I'm going to be getting rid of some stamps and dies. I've been doing this for a long time, in fact my craft room is my former master bedroom. Yes, that's how much stuff I have. So NO MORE. Good luck to everyone this coming year on their crafting jouryney, and thanks for sharing your ideas.

Stamps and dies?! I’ll take them! I just getting ready to start this exciting journey because I finally retired hoping to do what I wanted to do all my life! 😊😊😊

I totally understand. I have been doing this for over 30 years and I really need to use what I have. The only thing I really ever need is envelopes, some colors of card stock, and adhesive. I also am going to work at not falling for the “free if you spend this much”.

I can understand having too much "stuff". I just emptied out three truck loads of donations!! All was good stuff I just had way too much. I'm just now getting into card making with my nine year old granddaughter and we just started acquiring our crafting "stuff". Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

The “FIRST” question I ask myself before making a purchase is “How many cards will you really make?” Such a really really great video. So helpful in my not wanting to “SPEND!” Many thanks, I think this is a wake-up video for most of us crafters. My must is “NOT TO WATCH HAUL VIDEOS” they trigger me into buying. It helps not watching! 🙋🏻‍♀️❤️🤗

Actually, I have learned a valuable lesson from Jennifer McGuire and that is I now look at things before I purchase them and think of five ways that I can use that stamp and die and if I can’t then I don’t buy it. This is made a huge difference and how I see things now and I’m like you no more paper Start using the things I already have. For me now that I’m 65 I have to look at things differently. Good luck and I think doing your top 25 things from year to year is good. I think it’s a great way to have a checklist and hopefully it keeps you on task. Tfs and Happy New Year:)

I have to get rid of text messages from companies because it fuels my impulse buying because I have a bad case of FOMO and my craft room is never organized. If I don't have a place to put it its not going to come into my craft room. Great video, thank you. I also am starting to inventory everything in my craft room and I'm going to be donating to teachers.

Great list! I can relate to almost all of these! I have already been doing the trick of waiting a day or two to checkout when buying online; 80-90% of the time, I decide I don’t need what is in my cart. Thank you for sharing your list with us!

I just moved to a new home and I’m still setting up my craft room in a spare bedroom. My husband is helping me do a detailed inventory of everything in my craft room BEFORE I put anything away. This way, I can check my inventory before I hit the purchase button.

I have decided to do many of the things you mentioned-I have way too much stuff that I really want to play around with to get to crafting again. I lost my father in 2023 and lost my creativity & desire to craft until the very end of the year. I’m going to follow a lot of your tips. TFS - really helpful and appreciated.❤

I am not purchasing anything until the end of April/May. That's when my favorite designer puts out her next collection. As a former store owner, I went several years of not buying anything after I sold my business. Then the last three years I have bought so much new stuff. I definitely have FOMO when it comes to pretty collections. But I have noticed a trend of higher prices on everything and the product (ephemera, stickers, etc) are not as nice of quality, so I am going to be very mindful of what I purchase in 2024. Last year I did the following and it helped a lot as far as not purchasing as much. 1. I quit watching haul videos, for the most part. 2. If I did watch one and thought I wanted something, I'd add it to an online cart and let it sit there for a few days. Most times I'd empty the cart or forget I had anything in a cart. I'm also in the process of purging items and going to take them to the next retreat I'm going to, where they will have a FREE table. Let's be honest, you rarely get much at a garage sale so I'd rather give it away to those I know who would use it.

Great list!! I can identify with so many of the ‘pitfalls’ you mentioned🙄😆… including buying the Fuse ( because I understood initially it was different/ better than the Minc I already had)…. oh well, now I can foil twice as much in the same time!!🙄🤣🤣. Love the idea of technique vs new product videos! We do forget techniques. Would love to see more ideas for creative ways to use pastes, gelli plate, embossing folders…. not much into pattern paper tho. Thanks so much for sharing all that you do. And so sorry for the losses your family has been through this past year, from experience, healing takes time! 🧑🏼‍🎨😀💗

My goal is to use the wood block stamps I have (some are at least 30 years old and I haven’t used some for over 20 years). When I use them if they still stamp well, I’ll remove them from the wood block to make more space. If they either don’t stamp well or I just don’t think I’ll use them, I’ll get rid of them.

Your list sounds a lot like mine that runs through my head! I bought Christmas dies and stamps because I love what the creators did. Then for Christmas, I got out every stamp die and papers that I ALREADY had, I could (and still can) make a two new Christmas cards every week, and never repeat anything! Time to use what I have! Also guilty of the duplicates! So, I thought I’d take a day of ‘cooling’ time when the Fuse came out, I had $600 worth in my cart. 😳😳 Told myself, this is ridiculous, take a beat and come back later. Of course they ran out of Fuse’s! I don’t have a minc, so I really could use the Fuse, I don’t want to hot foil, another investment I don’t think I’d use enough, and storage is a problem. I’m looking forward to seeing your posts using patterned paper, I have a TON of paper and card stocks, that need to be used. Thanks for posting this, because every one of these goals are similar to mine. I haven’t caved on the Brother Scan N Cut yet, but I know I’m getting close!😂😂😂 I just don’t want to buy dies and store dies for all the stamps, and I hate ‘cussy’ cutting! 😂

If I may make a suggestion - or at least observation - your goal of focusing more on techniques than products in your upcoming videos puts me in mind of Nichol Spohr. I don't know if you're familiar with her work or her YT channel, but that seems to be a major point with her. Even during events like Simon Says Stamp's Stamptember, for which she does almost daily videos featuring the collaboration product(s) out that day, she usually emphasizes & explains how you can get a similar result with something you might already have. So if you are not in the market, or miss out on that day's limited-edition collaboration product(s), you can still achieve a similar look (if that's what you want). I'm not saying you should "become" Nichol, of course, but more giving you an example or idea. :) Another tip for avoiding ordering an item twice, is to do a final once-over look at your cart before going ahead & placing the order. I've ordered duplicates once or twice, just by accidentally hitting the wrong quantity or something. So I've gotten into the habit of always checking to make sure - if I want ONE of something - that I actually have a quantity of 1 on the cart page. Hope that makes sense! It works for me, anyway. :) I look forward to seeing what all you come up with in the next year. I always love your videos. Hopefully 2024 will go better for you than this year did. Take care, have an awesome day, & Happy New Year! :)

I think every year you should do this video, but probably not keep the number the same as the year because that will get overwhelming. I think as crafters we all love these sorts of videos and can relate. Just make the number 20 instead. God Bless you and your family in this new year! I also love the mid year update video as well.

I loved your list for 2024 and I’m going to establish a list using some of yours. Looking forward to viewing your past videos and the future ones. Thank you Christina. This video is a must watch for all crafters. I think you are spot on with being influenced into purchasing items that don't fit into your own creativity style. I love to watch other card makers and love their card or technique, but it's not something that I find I go to so I don't use it. There it (and my money) sits unused. Good luck this year on your resolutions!

I have vowed to keep the numbers of my crafty stuff at what I have. So, for every item I buy from now on, I will get rid of something I already have. This has made me stop and rethink what I buy, because I really like what I already own, so if I can’t think of anything I’m willing to get rid of, I don’t buy the new thing!

I absolutely loved your list - I put items in a wish list and leave it there for a week and then take a look if I absolutely still want it desperately then I still consider it. Also, the best purchase I made 2 years ago was the Brother Scan N Cut - I use it constantly, it has saved me so much money, I haven't purchased a matching die set for any stamp set since. Not to say I haven't purchased a die but I don't have to have any dies for any stamp sets any more, and it is amazing all the other things that I have learned that it can do for me... But I did love your list.

So glad you did this video again this year. I need to do my own list and I have to get my crafty spending under control. I've started using Evernote to log my craft supplies and I find this helps when I look at new products to know what I already have and it's like searching my own online store! Nichol Spohr has a great video on cutting out patterned paper/stamped images with the Brother Scan n Cut. That's another one on my to do list. Sending crafty hugs your way and all the best wishes for 2024.

Hurray for you! #20 - teach techniques not so much related to selling a product. Good girl!! That, and for that reason alone, I began watching videos. I AM an artist and very creative. When starting card making I just wanted to learn techniques. IF I want a product that I see in a video, I will research for myself. I don't need it SOLD to me. Thank you for your list. Your openness. But most of all for #20 - you GO girl!! Thanks

I feel better - I thought it was just me! Honestly, your 2024 list is basically what mine is. I’ve definitely got to bring some focus to my craft room and get in there and spend more time actually creating, instead of watching videos and buying things that were recommended. I always say I could craft until I die and never need to buy another single thing, except maybe some adhesives at some point. Happy New Year, and all the best to you in 2024!

Great video! Great things on your list I recommend typing them out onto something attractive and then having them posted somewhere in your craft space is kind of a daily reminder to keep you motivated to keep those commitments. Five years ago I stopped buying paper and card stock- pattern paper, solid paper, specialty paper etc. and using what I have I am still nowhere near running out of paper! In the first decade after discovering paper crafting, my eyes were WAY bigger than my stomach so to speak! Really admire your goal setting!

an idea for your ipad... i leave my phone outside the craft room door on a side table.
perhaps you could put your ipad in a drawer or on a shelf or somewhere out of sight until you need it. that way you are not distracted by it.
i'll be curious as to how you do with that part of your list!
most of the things you listed made me laugh out loud because they sounded so familiar! lol a couple are buying multiples of things... i can't even count how many times i have done that. and the other is buying the current trend when i don't need it, usually it is not what i hoped and likely i already have something that does the same or similar job.
i'm going to share this video with my crafty friends because they will recognize all your points as well!
good luck with your list. i know you can do it! stay strong against temptation!
    happy crafting!

Love this list. I don't have a craft room I have a store. One thing I'm doing is to use every die and stamp I own. The idea is to see if I like them, and if not I will get rid of them. Along with this I will only buy replacements for things I've used up - that's it. I too bought a Scan&Cut. It took 6 months to unbox, and just a couple of hours to realize I won't be using matching dies. It's fabulous. Still keeping the Cricut and manual machine. The plan is to make this a creative year.

Hola Christina!

I love your what you won’t and will do lists. Please continue them next year. Also, I have a scan and cut too that I need help with. It has already saved me a lot of money by not always purchasing those dies that go with stamp sets. What I need help with and would love for you to do a video on is, how do you get it to cut around word sentiments? And how to get it to not cut around tiny things, for example I cut out some ornaments 8 had stamped. It did great in mist, but then went rogue and started cutting out the little flowers in the middle of the ornaments. Really weird and wonky. And I just got a cricut joy and would love some ideas with that. And I have an idea for you. Get the color my life app. It helps me so much to figure out if I already have something similar I can use that an influencer uses and helps to not buy the same product in duplicates. It takes awhile to get your inventory in, but it’s worth it,mi promise. I’m sorry about your mom. We lost my MIL this year and I know how difficult it is. Blessings to you for a happy new year.

These are wonderful goals. Many of them are in line with my plans. I do plan to buy several Copics this year though, but that's only because I'm going to Japan and I know they are much less expensive there. They are budgeted into my trip. 😆

My goal for 2023 was to not buy any paper crafting supplies. I did ok until this fall, then I ordered a lot of stuff on sale. Going to adjust my goal and use a budget amount.

Our craft store closed this year. I'm a person that likes to see what I'm buying. I have so many card making supplies I've purchased and then never got to it. So my goal is to not purchase anything and use what I have. I do cross stitching and would love to learn to either knit or crochet

Thank you Christine, just found you and subscribe, like you i am very impulsive and full collection syndrome, I will try in 2024 to follow your list, have so much i have not used, have like 7 die cut machines, have the scanncut for over 2 years now and used it like a couple of times. lets do this.

I think you are talking to me. 😂 I am so guilty of all the things you mentioned. Here’s to buying less and using what you have. ❤

I need to make more cards in general, not just buy supplies.. I also need to become more familiar with my alcohol markers and distress inks..

I do impulse buying too. That needs to stop in 2024. 😅 could you share which paper companies you use?

The impulse buying is the worst. My fave paper companies are paper trey ink, spellbinders and concord & 9th.

I hear you on the iPad. I find myself watching videos and not crafting or being influenced to “add to cart”. Speaking of add to cart, it has really helped me to wait before checking out. Nine times out of ten, I will forget that I added it or the wait time will show me I don’t need it. Now, I do shop but I don’t think I buy as much as I had been.

You have motivated me to make a list for myself. Each year I tell myself I am not going to shop for anything except on my birthday and when there is a special project I want to do that needs some specific products. Each year I do fine until early April when I begin to waver. By May, I am back to buying when the mood strikes. I like your idea of approaching this more thoughtfully and with specific do’ and don’ts. I have more than I could ever need or use and would feel tons better about my purchases if they were thoughtful and intentional. I am very glad you decided to make this list again for 2024. Selfishly, I hope there will be another list in 25.😉

I mastered that "Duplicate" issue 2023. I would get so ridiculously excited that I wouldn't go check before checking out. Listen to me!! It's not that easy to sell your duplicate items. I just find a place and donate.

I was bad with the duplicates as well. I end up just gifting them to friends when we go away for weekends. But I'd rather not have the duplicates. lol

Great list. I have not bought any pattern paper for 2 to 3 years and I am still overflowing. I recently bought 2 of one item in the same Order and I was so irritated at myself for such carelessness. Other than that time there has only been one other time that I purchased a duplicate product.

I did that last year. I got rid of about 1/3 of my stuff. And then I started buying new stuff😖 but not this year. I am going to do things differently..l now I just have to figure out how! I love the idea of waiting a few days before purchasing, and making sure you aren’t duplicating products. What a waste. Anyhow good luck to you! I found a very appreciative high school art teacher that was thrilled to take all my stuff!

I second that motion @kathybost1879. My husband and I are suppose to be getting ready to sale our family home and I should be downsizing my craft supplies. I find this process harder than getting ride of family stuff. 😅
