Great mods that keep the engine stock. Another one that I have is a catch can for the head breathers. This keeps the cylinder from hemorrhaging carbon and gives you a better throttle response.

Worked for Harley for 22 years and seen this time and again. Keeping up with their buddies.
My first big twin was 40 Knuck chopper. I've since moved on to my new 2022 Street Bob. Love the bike. Other than a basic stage 1 to undo what EPA made Harley Davidson do, I'm done. I'll go anywhere on the bike the bagger guys will, and I don't use a windshield. 114 M8 is a winner.

Agree 100%. And I’d add the Love Jugs Mighty Mite fans as well. They’ve dropped my cylinder head temps by 50 to 65 degrees, and the bike runs strong because the ECU never has to retard the ignition timing when the motor gets too hot (because it doesn’t).

I have a’22 rg with stage 1 and 2, and I rented a 22 sg with nothing, just stock, and I have ridden a friend’s rg, a ‘21, with a 131. I can’t speak to the 114 with stage 1+2, but stock I feel certain that my bike gets up and goes better than the stock 114, but not by a great deal. I feel like either way a guy can be very happy. My friend has the 131, and from the initial grab on, it has more torque and acceleration, and can absolutely run faster than either of the two other motors I’ve tried. Having 24 more ci than mine absolutely creates more and it does it right away. However, it is extremely expensive to buy the crate motor and have it installed and you have to really want the extra, which you can’t use all the time. Most of the time he rides just like a normal person and it goes unused. Frankly, I didn’t notice the heat in any negative way, it just felt like a Harley on a 88 degree day. There’s nothing wrong with that and there is yes, more power that you can feel. But it’s really a lot of money. And more down the road in service visits, just like you bought a new bike. I just ordered the vented dipstick and oil filter, thanks for sharing that information!

All you need to wake up a 114 is a cam because EPA has the motor choked, but other than that you are right. I have the same bike as you and I was on ciro3d cover for Myrtle Beach bike week in 2021. Love my lights..

The bike sounds amazing and runs so good. Lots of power, fast but smooth at the same time and easy to drive at normal speeds. 2019 Street Glide 114 w upgraded oil pump too.

Personally i dont drive in traffic, i dont use my Harley's as a daily commuter, when i ride i head out of the city and head for the hwy so heat really isn't an issue.
I agree with you on the big stage for build or even crate engines, i dont see the point
I have a 2021 Street Glide with the 107 & stage 2 and its got plenty of power, but what i like most is the sound.
For me its not a stage 1 if you don't change the air cleaner and you still have stock headers and if you are worried about heat, get rid of the stock header.
I went with the Cobra True Duals header with Cobra Neighbor Haters and an SE Ventilator air cleaner and a tune, that really woke the bike up and now added the stage 2 and there is a ton of power but what i like the most if the sound.
while they were in changing the Cam i did have them change the Cam Plate to the SE along with the oil pump, changed to SE tappets and the S&S tappet cuffs, didnt like the plastic harley ones, also changed to SE push rods but that was a requirement as they cut the stock ones.

Super informative video; thanks for the great content! Question: I've got a '21 Street Bob and am curious if I need the oil filter and vented dipstick. I bought the bike brand new 11 months ago and have put just under 12,000 miles on it without any issues (just changed the stock tires at 11,500). To your point about living in a hot climate, I'm in SC, so I feel your pain lol...that's why I ask about the vented dipstick and oil filter.
I love ALL of your lighting, btw. I've done a couple of mods from Ciro and am incredibly impressed; yours is killer because it's purposeful and tasteful. Too many guys go over the top, but yours is friggin' Goldilocks!

I’ve got a stage 1 on ‘23 Fat Bob. S&S slip ons. Love the torque I’m getting now. No need for more power on highway, which I don’t ride much anyway on this model Harley. If I go to stage 2 and out on neighbor-hater exhausts I don’t want to feel sheepish every time I roll in and out because of the noise. I’ve done that with past bikes and I’m over it

Hello there i love your content, i was wondering what bars are on your bike? I have a back injury and my discs are messed up so riding comfortably is a major concern for me. I just bought a 2023 road glide special and its my first harley what is your recommendation for bars?? Any help would be much appreciated thank you

    • @HarleyGeezer1954
      @HarleyGeezer1954  Год назад

Thank you very much I appreciate it. Bars are of course very individual to the person. I have Stage 4 arthritis and it took a lot of trial and error to find the right height and angle. I sat on a lot of my friends bikes. Mine are the Fat Bagger 12" X 1 1/4". They have 13s and I wish I knew at the time they might have been a bit better. I like the angle of my hands so I went with them. My mechanic charged me a lot less because they are way easier to install that any other bars. They are 2 pieces. They weren't cheap but I have seen others more expensive that didn't fit me. Also aways think of your seat and where you will sit. If you plan on changing your seat do that first. Your hand position will probably change. I hope that helps. Everything I have on my bike is listed in the description of my videos with links.

Reliability is more important to me than anything else. Due to the fact that in my research, I have found many many testimonials to the flaws that are part and parcel to mass production, and the garbage that is in screamin eagle products, reliability is NOT built into Harley Davidson. I love their fit and finish, but not in love with their production motors or their transmissions. I did what most won't and invested in having a bottom up blueprinted motor (124ci) mated to a Baker 7 speed transmission so that IF I want to romp on it, I know it is going to take what I put it thru. Also without the cat in the exhaust and a tune, the bike runs much cooler than stock. A 100,000 mile motor is what I wanted and what I spent my money on.... Well I did put a great stereo by a reputable installer too since the sound system on my '21 Ultra limited was pretty much worse than garbage.
One thing you will always find when going bigger and with more power, is that it never is enough when you get used to it.
