Hiking the Suicide Rock Trail gives you the big mountain feel without climbing the big mountains. You’ll have to hike uphill on the Deer Springs Trail, through the oaks that give way to pines as you get higher. The payoff is a massive slab of granite with views of the mountains surrounding you. Although you are in San Bernardino National Forest, it feels like you could be at Yosemite.

Awesome! You were nearby us today! We live in Hemet and have hiked that trail. It was a doozy, mainly because I was out of shape! It took us a little over three hours to get to that giant boulder and once there, it was soooo worth it because of the cool breeze and the spectacular views! Another great upload! I'm a happy subscriber!

Ah thank you, and happy to hear that you live so close to this area. 👍 There are so many great trails around Idyllwild - hoping to document more this summer. And yea, if you're not in mountain climbing shape, the slopes on this guy can be tough right from the gun.

Just got home from this one. Beautiful hike. Thanks for the gear tips, absolutely made my life easier. Most important gear in my bag was a simple bug net. Lots of little flying nasties out there today

I did this today and maybe it’s because I haven’t hiked since April but Jesus I was breathing hard during the first half. Had to take maybe 6-8 rest stops to catch my breath. Great hike and the views in the last 1/2 mile are great.
