Until humans evolve beyond needing meat to supply our protein needs, we have to be able to rationally maintain our food supply. Yes there is the Vegan option for those who's conscience can override their genetics. But the vast majority of us, need to eat the food that our ancestors did. Anyone with a lick of common sense can grasp that those who farm, ranch and fish for the rest of us have an emotional balance to maintain between doing what is necessary while maintaining their compassion for our fellow beings. It's far too easy for some who moralize, from a position of being able to choose, where their food comes from because it arrives in packaged form at the local grocery. Modern civilization let's those who never get soil under their nails or manure on their boots eat very well. The very few who feed us all deserve our utmost respect.

Not a bad cow, an unprofitable cow. People who get sentimental forget that these animals are specifically bred and raised to provide their food. You can't expect to eat burgers and steak without someone further up the line making these hard choices.

I am glad to see the rain stopped and the grass growing for you. I am also happy to say that we had about 8 inches of rain at the ranch here in Texas. It seems that prayers have been answered, because our area of Texas was the ONLY area in the state to get that much rain. The cattle are safe, and now the tanks are all full. Now we are waiting for the grass to grow. Keep up the good work FTR.
Btw, I am not sure why anyone would say that we are only in it for the money. This is not a profitable business to be in. You MUST love the lifestyle and the animals to be in this business. There is no profit most of the time.

Good morning Tyler! As we all know sometimes being a rancher is not easy. When you have to make that difficult decision I know you do it with a heavy heart. But sometimes the right thing to do is not always the easiest thing to do.
Tyler I would like to ask a question! Even if this cow could have a calf in the future, wouldn’t it be more possible for her offspring to have genetic or pregnancy issues?
Also as far as others questioning you, they have no right. Until someone walks in your shoes they have no idea what really goes on or how you feel.
Keep doing what your doing, your amazing. Gif bless you!

Tyler from what I’ve seen over the years that you’ve being on this channel, you love your animals, you love farming, and yes, there are more lucrative things that you could be doing, but this is where your heart wants to be. This is a tough time of the years every year, because it’s when you see if all your work has paid off. And yes, this is your living, what supports yourself and your family. You have to be wise. You have to weed out who isn’t producing, or who isn’t healthy, and you have to weed them out and bring them to be slaughtered. I know every time it’s really tough on you when one doesn’t work out for whatever reason, but it’s simply apart of farming. I can’t imagine having to go through all this and than on top of that have to answer to people who just don’t understand farming. I’m sorry you have to go through that as well.
Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing. Looking forward to your next video. 🙂 Greetings to you and your family 🙂

He said that if someone did want to do that here’s how it worked for him. And he said that he receives support from doing RUclips videos, which most people who watch his video already know that he receives income from his videos. Last point, even if he said for someone to quit, which I do not believe he is saying, he cannot make someone do anything. People need to take responsibility for their own actions.

I’m sorry that you have to deal with people who just don’t understand farming and they don’t want to learn about it either. If people have legit questions, that’s one thing but to throw insults is another. I’m a huge animal lover but I still wrote down things that we could and could t tolerate out of animals. It’s difficult, but it’s what you have to do. Y’all love your animals, and that evident in everything you do! Your ranch is looking nice and green! I know your cows will love being back on those beautiful pastures soon! Love from Oklahoma! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Plus one other factor you didn’t mention (that I heard) was that even if she did successfully calve on another breeding attempt, you’d be genetically propagating her reproductive issues into your herd; that would lead to bigger and more wide-spread issues down the road for you and cost you even more time, money and productivity…..as others have said, we’re ranching, not raising a petting zoo. Keep up the great work on your ranch and in your videos!!

I am not in the agricultural industry, I am a retired designer in Florida. But even I can see this cow must go. She could cost you your ranch, if you keep her and the weather and feeding options continue in way they have the last few years. No business could make that kind of a choice.

Tyler, I understand, The vet comes Thursday afternoon when we run the herd through the head gate. I have a cow that should have had a calf in late February and she must have aborted it. I will be making the same decision Thursday evening.

I literally just said this on Twitter about a situation: Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not everyone's opinion matters!!!
For someone to accuse you of not caring about your animals, as well as you take care of them and treat them; Those are the EXACT people that do not matter in life!!! kEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Farming/ranching is not a perfect world like some people think they live in.
I gravitate toward all those farmers/ranchers that view tough decisions with prudence, but mostly heart.
Lots of gravity going on here!
Your intelligence, direction and "heartfelt thinking" should inspire us all!

I don't have a problem at all with cull cows or you Tyler. You aren't ranching to lose money. If someone considered just having a cow as a pet, they would be shocked at how much hay they eat! In my area $30-35 a 3 wire bale for grass hay. That wouldn't last a week. Sorry for your loss💙

Hello Tyler, Thanks for another informative and enjoyable RUclips video, of a day of your life on the farm. Having watched your videos for quite a while now, I recognize you as a very thoughtful person whom I would enjoy knowing as a friend.
It seems that you had “quite a ride” while trying to persuade that cow to head for the corral, and I was feeling concerned for your safety as you were needing to negotiate your way between trees, and to keep a safe distance away from fences, and to not fall from the top of the levee. Please take care. Best wishes from Australia.

Don’t listen to the negative comments. It’s your business and you know what you’re doing.
Ty for the educated explanation. Watching you get her into the trailer was cool. Not as simple as it would seem. Keep up the great work on your ranch & with this channel.
