Yamaha does not use phillips head screws they use J.I.S. screws (JAPANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD. Lots of people have not heard of them. If you look at the head of the screw and it has a round dot stamped beside the cross on the head, that is what it means. It makes a world of difference having the proper screwdriver for these because you will no longer strip screws out. Yamaha, honda, kawasaki and even traxxas rc cars use these screws.
I was literally about to say this ! All japanese brands that have any screws are usually J.I.S. same with water craft and atvs! Especially on the older models with carbs! If you don't have jis set . Then use a impact hammer screw driver that's the 2nd best option never fails but you maybe replacing the screw lol
Thanks! I just put some in my sons PW too. The bike is still apart but I’m curious to hear your review!!! Also I have 2 sets of the cannon race craft springs if you hear of anyone interested. I have a 35lb set and a 45lb set. We needed up having custom rear shocks made.
@@4thdimensiontravels855 Not on Japanese phillips heads, you should use JIS screwdrivers. How freakin tough is this to comprehend? Then you complain about stripped heads...
Bc people only know about Phillips heads bc when they go to Ace, Home Depot or Lowes they see metric sockets n wrenches but don’t see “metric” screwdrivers. I too have been in in the field for a long time and until I went to a mechanical trade school I didn’t realize the difference neither. But after a long time doing mechanics I know that quality screwdrivers like snap on n mac work a lot better than a cheap screwdriver. But a lot of people who are wrenching on these little pws are dads trying to get their kids bike running and they are watching RUclips videos to figure out how too. But simmer down, and don’t be a dick. Just reply and say a good quality screwdriver or getting a jis style screwdriver will work better and is worth to have if your doing a lot of mechanical work. It’s that simple.
I allways feel Happy about the PW / PV discussion 😂

An impact driver is a very useful tool for those big screws.tightens and loostens fastenings
Yes! A must-have for working on Japanese bikes
Great tips on the PW! What rear shocks are you running? There are a ton of options out there just curious to see what works on the track?
Nice video, getting ready to redo a pw for my little guy this winter. Breaking it all down to nothing and rebuilding the whole thing.
0:58 thats probably more air than i ever got on my honda crf125f, granted i have never really jumped before
I’m 200lbs and I still ride around on my son’s pw50.
It’ll do it. Stiffer springs are more or less to let the engine rev a little higher before it engages
THank you for making the video...very helpful!
I like what you did here. Is this an alternative for the qt50 gear set? Seams much cheaper. Are these aftermarket springs
where did you buy the springs?
In the description they are from peeweecycle
A
Me too??? How did they work out?
Good! Better for racing as it puts the engine into the powerband before the clutch engages

We needed up having custom rear shocks made.
I wanted to see bike rip after you put springs on
Sorry, it was really old footage and I didn’t have the follow up ripping filmed
If the rear wheel spins quickly at idle on the stand would that be from faulty clutch springs?
I wouldn’t say faulty, no. Centrifugal clutches will do this in nature
Ok which spring was the new one you didn’t identify?
Both springs were new
Where to find the stronger springs please
I have the link in the description to the springs
If you work on Japanese bikes you need JIS screwdrivers, standard Phillips tend to strip out the screw head
It’s on my Amazon list
Is that AMA legal?
Probably not, but we never did ama sanctioned races, just local fun runs
Nice 👍 job
Need to get yourself a set of JIS Screwdrivers.
De fuerza que tal es
Use a #3 philips or better yet, a japanese #3 philips. No impact driver neefed
You casually skipping the part where you moved your engine bolt mount caused me hours of frustration! 😑
You complain about the "phillips head" when its jis driver....mechanic fail on your part...
Always someone who has to crap on a person
Also using a#2 screwdriver. A #3 works damn fine

@@racerx2084 No... its called wrenching on Japanese engines for 30 years...
