Another reason I love that you cover the common animals is 1) Some of us have never seen them! I live in, hypothetically, solid bullfrog territory. Never seen one. And 2) You do have your overseas watchers. ;) If I watched an Australian and they ignored all the "boring" reptiles, I'd be so mad! XD
I almost stepped on a copperhead a couple years ago.. It hissed at me and I wasn't expecting it so I screamed. It could've bit me, I was wearing flip-flops :>

I am so happy you told the length also in centimetres, because I really have no idea how big an inch is because we don't use this measurement here in Germany. But 15 cm for a frog is huge! But Google told me a minute ago that the biggest frog in Germany (Seefrosch/Seafrog, also called marsh frog or laughing frog) can also reach up to 14 cm, so learned something new today :D
I'm originally from Dallas! I spent most of my childhood herping (though I didn't know it was called that) in the creek behind our house and was constantly bringing home tadpoles and those teensy toads, to my mom's dismay. Never did see any copperheads or cottonmouths, either.
When Emily said they were looking for cottonmouths and copperheads, I was like “Uh what are you going to do when you find them? SURELY NOT PICK IT UP?”
We used to have Northern Cricket Frogs at my daycare around the drain on the playground in Dallas. Catching one gave you the highest feeling of power for as long as you had it.
I actually caught a Northern Cricket frog recently! It was so small and cute, but surprisingly easy to catch. I'm always so surprised by the things catch while Herping!

Plot twist: the tiny frogs are actually mutant aliens from Saturn who are planning to take over the world by possessing Emily and making videos about how frogs are better than snakes, then they are going to make their way across the world under the pretext of herping when they are actually going to sneak into all the different peoples brains, eventually they will take over the world and we will all be doomed to the kingdom of toads.
Im part of the Snake Discovery FB group and someone got to meet Ed and Emily while they were looking for the copperheads, so I couldnt wait to see what they found on their herping adventure lol
I'm hand digging a well and everyday before I dig, I have to rescue my spring peepers from the hole. They are the cutest little frogs. They love the deep hole for some reason.

there is a bullfrog who every summer for the last three years we find him nearly daily in our pool. I keep expecting him to die of chlorine exposure, but I’m pretty sure its the same one because he is HUGE, about as big as the one you found. Everytime we fish him out and put him back in the vernal pool in our woods but he just keeps hopping back to our pool.
When I was little, the kids at my school started this thing were we started digging this "hole to China" every kid would surround the hole and just spend recess digging further and further, it was a pretty deep hole too. One day everyone was digging like normal went the dirt in the hole went thump, like something was under it and jumping. We paused and then continued digging when a HUGE toad just popped out of the hole and scared everyone, every kid was running and screaming away from the hole. I did too it freaked me out cause I didn't know what it was at first, then once I realized it was a toad we went back and took it out of the playground out of the fence and just continued digging. I think once it got too deep the teachers made us stop and they filled in the hole, but digging that hole was so fun as a kid. And man that toad memory is one of my favorites, I still don't really understand how he got so deep though...
You should have gone to the lake and checked at the Marina. Sometimes you can find snakes there. Or next time you come down Tx hit up a few places south of Dallas. There is a great park about 30 min south of there that has hiking trails. Also the Nature Center in Cedar Hill! So many places to go!
Come to Delaware!! There are lots of toads, TONS OF box’s turtles and aquatic turtles, and I see a different water moccasin in back yard creek everyday!!

We had American Bullfrogs where I used to live, I only ever caught one in the fall, getting close to winter. I walked into the chicken pen to go let them out of the coop, but before I got to the door I saw something crawling in the mud, kneel down and it's a chilly HUGE bullfrog. Picked him up, plopped him in a bucket so I could prove to my parents I got one, let him go again near the pond out back.
When most people go into the woods they try to avoid snakes especially cotton mouths. Emily and Ed go into the woods looking for snakes and cotton mouths.
I used to go frogging near where my grandparents live when I was little. I would catch bullfrogs put them in a bucket to show my mom(which she hated because she is afraid of them) and then if let them go so I could catch them again the next time I visited my grandparents. I caught some really massive ones too and one time I caught a bullfrog that had like blue ish tint to it.
