    Man I went up to the Gator Nationals last Sunday...Holy $hit it was 34 degrees when we got there! It was freezing all day. That board is perfect for your boat. It's got some texture so you won't slip and bust your ass.

    Great job, nothing beats a morning of fishing. I just picked up 2 evinrude fisherman a 68 and a 72 yeah and they both have gear shift imagine that. They sure don't show their age. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞

    Wow, nice fish. I should try a rattle trap on some of the lakes up here that have large mouth bass

    I have the same motor on my 17ft lund, probably does about 40mph by myself with live well empty, pulls out the hole just fine for me, im adding a 9.9hp Johnson i bought a few weeks ago to do my great lakes trolling to keep the hours off my 60hp, and probably save sum money on gas.. mine are both tiller motors I lock in the straight position then steer with my minn kota terrova 24v, with spot lock.. awesome setup for a boat from the 90s

    I been using a trolling plate on my 60hp johnson to get them real slow speeds in find and currents, it actually puts alot of drag on my top speed... saginaw bay is going to be awesome this year

    Only had one rattle trap lure and I lost it before I caught anything with it. The minnows starved to death. Sun 😎 screen lubes whatever you put it on.

    The stainless is more efficient than the aluminum. If your stainless was a 17 pitch prop you would need to go with a 19 pitch aluminum to run the same speed as the stainless. I used to run a 19 pitch aluminum on my 18' Starcraft and I was able to drop to a 17 pitch stainless to get a better hole shot and maintain my top speed of 31mph and the stainless runs about 300rpm higher.

      Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes the problem is, the Stainless prop I have was 13 3/8 diameter x 17 and found out now its only 12 in. diameter from being ground down over the years, same as the original aluminum prop that spun out, it was 13 x 19 but has also been ground down to 12 1/2 diameter but it was the fastest prop @ 39 mph. The stainless and the original aluminum prop are both running around 6000 rpm's with an empty boat, the stainless is @ 36-37 mph. Was hoping the new aluminum would come close but its not gonna happen at only 5400 rpm's. Maybe I should grind it down too! Hahaha Thanks again & Stay tuned !

    You haven’t missed the crappie. They spawn when water temp is 60 to 70 degrees so keep a check on the temps. They bite all year round and better at night. Water temp is just right here in south Alabama for them to spawn, I’m getting ready to go crappie fishing 👍🙏

    What this video proved is that it's more fun and productive to go fishing than chase top end speed. Nice few fish you caught there. What happened to the 6hp?

    Put some grease on those prop blades
    Ha! Not sure really. But I have 2 props for my 25hp: a 2-blade and a 3-blade. I get a higher top speed on the 2-blade, but it sucks for rivers. I have to use the 3-blade when I'm in a current. My theory is that more blade surface against water means more drag on the motor, but also more torque. Kind of like gear ratios in an automotive differential.

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  2 года назад

      Hey. Yes more blade more water to move. That's why sailboat props are wide and lower pitch to push a big load. Thanks again for tuning in!

    Aluminum props are made of soft flexible metal in contrast to stainless that remains rigid at high velocity. Two props identical diameter and pitch one aluminum and one stainless... The aluminum prop can lose up to 20% of it's thrust capacity compared to stainless due to the blades flattening out at speed.

    • @jimcatanzaro7808
      @jimcatanzaro7808 2 года назад +2

      Ya aluminum is 100 better if you hit a rock the blade will brake not the whole lower shaft

    • @nicetooth
      @nicetooth 2 года назад

      @@jimcatanzaro7808 You got that right! A buddy of mine took out the entire Mercury duo-prop out drive on a high performance Formula boat by hitting a bunch of rocks just like you said. That was a very expensive day!

    Wish I lived on the water so field testing was easier, my problem is my 60hp johnson was over charging my starting battery after I left my boat in winter storage and the guy I stored it at "charged" it for me.. I just replaced the rectifier hopefully that fixed my issue... any suggestions? Motor was charging my starting battery at almost 18v, im thinking he burt the rectifier and hopefully not my stator

    Stainless steel propps are going to be faster, they dont flex like the aluminum ones, also the deck adds weight so your going to lose some speed.

  • @tankdog03ify
    @tankdog03ify 2 года назад

    Hole shot or speed... can't get both from a new prop, u want a faster boat youll need a bigger motor, u can definitely get on plain quicker with a different prop, but top speed will be the sacrifice

    34mph in landlocked lake, be fine. I know people with 17-18' CC with 90hp that barely bump 40mph.
    That was a skinny crappie but it had decent length-still make a good samwich..

    What happened to the 6Hp?????? Did I miss something??? Poor minnows starved to death should of thrown some white bread in there every couple days! Maybe hit patch of not enough oxygen also that close to shore line. Restricted oxygen level maybe & in that tiny area lot of fish in small container. Anyway I dont think they will go to waste Im sure, LOLLL!
