    Before the GDC changed its regulations on 8th March 2023, Overseas qualified Dentists were eligible to submit an application with General Dental Council (GDC) for an individual assessment to register as a Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist. If GDC accepted and the application was successful, the foreign-trained Dentists was eligible for registration. Upon registration, they could work in the UK.
    However, that has since changed. Now, to practise as a dental therapist, you must either enroll in university, or go through apprenticeship. In this video, I discuss both routes, and give my personal recommendation.

I’m looking into temporary registration or internship practice opportunities or any other root to help start building my own working experience for dentists in the UK reaching tge fullregistrationsome day . Could you guide me on suitable programs and how to apply? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Dear Ahmed,
      Given that you haven't graduated yet, you are not eligible for the Temporary registration as one of the requirements is that you must have at least 1600 hours of Clinical experience post graduation. There are other requirements you must meet. Please watch my video on TEMPORARY REGISTRATION in this channel for the full requirement list.

    Hello Dr Emmanuel, Hope you are doing good. Your videos are truly informative. Just a doubt, I recently came to know about clinics recruiting dentists as dental nurses with work visa, they also provide training for ore clinical exams with it, is it possible? Would like to know the credibility. Thanks!

    • @DrEmmanuelAmukun
      @DrEmmanuelAmukun  4 месяца назад

      Yes, that's true, but they have conditions. One is that you must have an approved ORE application with a candidate number ready to sit ORE. Second, that you must complete the nursing course regardless of whether you pass ORE before the nursing course ends. Third is that after passing ORE you have to stick with them even if you get a better offer or else, you refund all expenses incurred on your visa sponsorship.
      So yes, they are there. And if you are happy with that, why not? It's a good route to immigrate to UK legally, and professionally.

      Dear Rozel,
      The duration of the apprenticeship depends on the level, and how fast you can complete the modules, but the shortest is 6months, and the longest could be years. And yes, all dental apprenticeships are approved by the GDC, so you'll get a gdc registration upon completion.

      Hello Gloria,
      Nice to see you here.. Truly 😍😍
      About that, If you are already a Dental therapist at your home country, then the path is easy for you. You just apply for direct assessment of your documents, and if everything is in order, you are in!
      That's the path everyone was using initially, but now, Dentists cannot take the route, only Dental therapists and Dental hygienists can take that route. Hopefully that makes sense, but if you have any more questions, feel free to ask,I'll be glad to help. Blessings🙏
