I hope people understand this is not a cover. This is the actual Hillsong young & free drummer playing the song who knows the exact way it was created to be played on drums. And this drumming is absolutely amazing. Only until you have years in drumming or good skill will you understand how good he played this song, the crazy dynamics and fills.
First of all I disagree that in that you dont need years of drumming experience to pick up on all the great things hes doing as long as you're a smart player and have an ear and are actively listening. I've been playing for 13 years but I know a good handful of drummers with maybe 6 months or so of playing under thier belt who can pickup on very small things just because they're gifted with a good ear and or they're a smart musician. But anyways, I personally am more of a fan of how dan (drummer of hillsong worship) approaches the song both on the live hillsong church recording and in the studio. This isnt bad but I just absolutely love how dan plays it with how open yet huge and powerful it is. Brendan is an awesome drummer tho. I love what hes played on a lot of the young and free records. I'm not saying hes a bad drummer I'm just not a fan of how he plays this.
Cole Sisler I am not wrong I said only until you have years in drumming or GOOD SKILL. Pay attention to every word one says please before dedicating a whole paragraph to something misread. I say this politely. Dan McMurray is a good drummer in my opinion but Brendan is above him in my opinion and above Brendan, Harrison Wood.
Cole Sisler why do I think Brendan is above dan and Harrison above Brendan in case your wondering? Because I have seen their sessions before when they all gather up to play and Brendan can just play better fills than Dan and Harrison can play better than both as he has good foot control and an amazing ability for fills, and can outplay all of them to any beat while staying consistent with the metronome.
Abe They are all different styles! Brenden definitely has chops, Dan has great flow with songs and can take super complicated beats and make them sit well with the mix. Don’t know much about Harrison.
Hunter McGonigle I never said they didn’t have different styles. I know they do have diff styles but what I’m saying is I’ve heard them had a drum sesh together plenty of times, and in my opinion with 10 years of drumming have seen who is better at speed, dynamics, chops and grooves which is Harrison. But that’s just my opinion. You don’t have to agree.
Brendan is good. Dan is good. They are both using their gifts well in different ways. This video in particular sounds like it was recorded with a phone...so not really fair to make any judgment from it I think. Bless!
I personally like the way Dan approaches this song both on the live church recording and studio record a little bit more. He has a much more big open sound. Brendan isnt a bad drummer at all tho I love some of the stuff hes done with young and free.
The way dan plays it both in the studio and in the live church recording are both much more open and powerful. Not even with how hard he hits, just the way he plays is much bigger and more open sounding. I agree

Snare sampled? It is a mesh head? Or a normal head?
A normal head with the snare wires turned off on the first verse and first chorus
SnareSaMPled?ltisaMeShhead?Ora
Normalhead?
Dan McMurrays version is way more solid.
Lol

He’s all over the place.. he needs to go back to the basics🤦🏻♂️
Adreancali what lol?Im sure you could done a lot better.......
Fills fit and feel nice in the groove of the song idk what ur saying
I thought he held it down pretty well personally
Crowd perspective and camera pov are definitely different! More than likely sounds perfectly fitting with the mix outside the stage.
I'm sure you would have done much better Adrean
sorry u r a good drummer but bad audio and in my opinion you overplayed it but good job
Timothy Glidden drums
it’s called worship feels. 😆🙌🏻
unless you play for worship, you’d know what it feels like.
plus, this is youth. 🤙🏻
@@benjaminnebenjamin6033 I donplay for worship at my church
This is the worst cover of this song lol
Uuuhhhh...you do know you’re watching Hillsong right?
Not much have changed from the original drum parts lol still a simple effective groove
Heart before the beat man. Always know that. He didnt do this for the attention, He did this for the King.
most likely saying this cause of audio
Well too bad, He didn't do it for you to hear, He did it for God to hear.
