#MrCarrington #CharityShop #Thrifting
I get what you're saying about it being for charity, but that doesn't mean they should be putting ridiculous prices on stuff. Remember, they're getting this stuff for nothing. A lot of us used charity/secondhand shops due to low income, poverty etc etc. Now though some of them are literally taking the michael. And not all the money goes to some of these charities, just a percentage. That first shop was ridiculously priced 😲
@Pumpkin Pi Just saw your comment and I’m really surprised about all those managers etc , I have a friend that works in a children’s charity shop but all the staff are volunteers , I did know all the good quality goods are sold on eBay but what I’ve just read in your comments is a disgrace … I’m really shocked ….
Yes I agree a lot of pricing is too high, I was just meaning not to feel cheated parting with a little more money for quality items just because they are second hand
@@MrCarrington I was definitely not taking a dig at you there Mr C, please don't think I was. I just get annoyed at some the shops now and their extortionate prices 😊
@Pumpkin Pi it's disgusting isn't it 🤨
@Pam GM exactly!
I think that the long Le Creuset dish would be for a terrine. Like a meatloaf but sliced cold.
I truly enjoy your program. It is a dream of mine to visit London some day--although I need to get with it since I am almost 80. Thank you for your wonderful pleasantness, great smiles, with a view of your homeland. Wishing you joy and blessings. Barbara W in Alabama, USA
how pretty were those autumn flowers/leaves from that florist! love! 😍 I would totally share that weekday shirt with tom!
I’m tempted to go back for it 😂 thanks for another fun collab 🙌❤️
Wow that 1st shop is taking the Mickey with the prices 😳
Wow how did you not get tempted. I mentally spent sooo much. Love it when you take us on a thrift haul. I loved that table and I think it would have had to come home with me lol.
I think some have no idea on pricing .I saw primark things for the same or more in my charity shop.
I find certain ones are dearer.
I've followed Freya for almost 2 years now I think. Yours and Freyas videos are the first ones I watch on a Sunday. Charity shops have gone really expensive now. Loved the Coach bags and the jug with the ivy on it xx
I have volunteered in 2 different charity shops. The first one had a list of prices. If something was from Marks it would be priced higher than Primark for example. The other was a local one that supported our foodbank. We ad libbed the prices but nothing was that expensive and it was all going to that great cause. No one took a salary xx
Sometimes it’s nice to browse and it doesn’t matter that you came back empty handed. Lovely video 😀
A lovely look around the he shops👌😊.
I love that you didn't buy anything.. It shows that you are very careful to only buy what you need and not buy something for the sake of buying something 👏🤗
Wow the prices! I spotted a box of Ikea glasses for £5. They are about £3 new in Ikea.
Well, hello from Canada. I came across your channel randomly today. I watched your video where you went to a village flea/antiques market with a friend and a black lab puppy. I loved your comments & advice. You have the most wonderful voice and music tracks. I think that your comments regarding charity thrift shops are spot on. The person who winged about some ridiculous prices seemed of track. He doesn't have to go there nor does he have to buy anything with a price he doesn't want to pay. Keep up the great content.
I went charity shopping yesterday and came out with quite a few bits, including a bright green coat for £8 and a couple of candle sticks.
The round table was absolutely fabulous! I don't usually like glass tops but it just made it... wow!
Loved it 🥰
Love a charity shop video. I agree with lots of the comments - the charity shops have got so expensive now (particularly in London) - it's such a shame. I still love going in them though and trying to get a bargain.
Hi Mr carrington ,im from Freya's channel so popped across to check you out, loved your charity shopping loved that table fabulous .
Well you just popped up on my you tube and fascinated as love charity shops and table top sales !
Glad I found you !
Hello Mr Carrington. , I enjoyed this Vlog this morning . You should cone to my ones in Ruslip High street we have 7 here. What area were yours in ?
I find quiet a lot of times the Charity Shops OVERPRICE things considering they were GIVEN it for free .
If things are overpriced people aren’t going to pay it so, which will loose to a lost sale .I always say, ‘ keep the cost low and more pounds will appear for the shop’ . I find The Harlington Hospice shops have the cheapest prices and best things in . Have a nice Sunday.
I often go ro ruislip charity shops love them great prices
Fish dish I think lol the orange long dish.
I loved the music
Yes, I love your hauls but these people have these things given from kind hearted people and then charge a fortune. You need to remember that some of the c.e.o people for these companies are being paid very large amounts. As always not all the money goes where it is needed. If you doubt my word then pls read up on it. However, thank you for the video. I loved these type.
I’d love to look round London charity shops for a change. I have mix and match glasses and plates. I prefer variety over everything matching.
One of the perks of living in a big city is the large number of resale/charity shops. I loved shopping along with you. Those Winnie the Pooh plates were adorable!
That Le creuset is used for making paté&terrines I think, but you could also use it to make meatloaf
I've come over from Freya's channel, looking forward to watching your videos
Beef Wellington, extra long loaf cakes and homemade breads. Anything wrapped in pastry that you slice etc for the Les Cruset £40 pot
You’re absolutely right Mr. Carrington, the money is going to charity so I don’t mind spending a little more either. Great vlog as always! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
All our charity shops have really uped the prices im gessing its due to covid but they gone from bargin prices to more than in main shops like used primark items are marked at around same price they would have been new or more that new cost
That le creuset dish is a terrine mould and they are specialty moulds ideal for creating pates terrines, Foie gras, Pate en Croute and many more gourmet dishes. Pates can be baked in a crust as a pie or without the crust.
I actually thought it was a bit overpriced?
@@katbar6066 me too. I buy a lot of le creuset at car boots to re-sell, and never pay more than £10 a piece.
@@twinsgran I wish we had car boot sales here in Australia but I do look in Charity shops from time to time to see if there is any Le Creuset for sale. Sad to say too many people must have good taste and hang on to it as I have seen only 1 piece. I bought it too for a good price.
Hello Mr C, always wanted to have a good rummage in London charity shops but the prices WOW!
I think the charity shops will be left with lots of stock because of the pricing is too high,if the sell low then people won't mind buying and resonating later change is good for everyone, thanks mister Carrington loved the trip around with you..mags in Ireland 😊🍁🍂🍃
Love the charity shops video, many thanks. The long red dish, I would say is for 'meatloaf' 🥰
Autumn flowers are beautiful!!!
Love watching your videos Mr Carrington and Freya’s. I never seem to find anything in my charity shops. Wish I stayed in a city as think that makes a difference. I thought the first shop you were in was very expensive. I loved the Winnie the Pooh plates. Your charity shops have lots of lovely things in them. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week 🥰
I love charity shops! Everything from my furniture to my throws on my beds are second hand. The amount of amazing vintage stuff you can pick up is surprising! Always check out curtains, towels and jewellery as I’ve got some real bargains. Great video thanks 😊
Hi Mr c I loved all them Wallace and gromit plates.!
Happy sunday mr c , ooooh that table 👍, first shop over priced ano its for charity but some people do shop in charity shops on a budget £5 for 1 glass 😬, great video ty 💙
I have a friend that goes into the shoppes and picks up canvasses for pennies and uses them to paint his own art over the already bad art. stretched prepared canvas in an art store is very expensive. in the thrift stores/junque shoppes/charity shops the art is priced at less than $10, that's money in your pocket as a painter.
Fab idea
I find some charity shops charge more for Primark donations than Primark does in store! Sadly one of my local shoe/clothes bank is so full up you can't open the door. The community centre it's on the site with have phoned to get it collected but never do. Sad.
Thanks for taking us around the charity shops Mr. C - always interesting to see what people donate!

Just found tour channel . loved your show. I loved the music you had playing I never heard it before. Thanks for sharing I subscribed so I can see where you take us next .
The long orange dish with lid is for pate.
I saw so many things on this shopping trip that I liked and own. LOVED that orange and dark blue shacket. I also saw 2 pieces of uranium glass that I would have bought. THANKS!!! Have a GREAT DAY!!!!
Morning, chilling with a cuppa and a slice of toast and your video came up… perfect timing😀. Such lovely items and very organised charity shops, the round table was gorgeous as were the oak leaves, have a great week 😀
I appreciate these are charity shops... but I have seen prices on their items more than brand new retail!
Some of the prices are too high!
Wow, what an array of amazing charity shops. Ours are very small and just full of rubbish. If I lived where you lived I’d be in these shops all the time.
I think the long le creuset dish is for making pate. X
Ahh yes!
Loved the shacket in the second shop nice Autumn colours and would have suited you so well , have another think about that one before it goes . I saw that lovely black Labrador in the first shop beat you and was just coming out of the next one when you got there. Expensive , but to be expected in London. Charity shops in South Wales are a lot cheaper and you get get some great bargains.
The le,cruset dish is for pate Mr c ...I love charity shops but some do charge more than you can get them for new I know it's a good cause but when I look I'm looking for a bargain and yes all of them charge differently

18 months ago I had a big sort out of lots of different things, I donated a lot to a local charity shop that supports families in need ( as they give things to families in need for free) I gave a lot of my costume jewellery to our local " Hospice at home shop " so they can sell to raise money for the hospice, as they rely on donations for the hospice to keep it open, we have a local adult and children hospice.
Big stores like M&S donate stock that they can't sell, even after having sales.
Love browsing the charity shops myself, but find the prices are a bit hit and miss. Got a New with tags M&S shirt for £2 but in the same shop a used Primark one was £5
Things like that big wine/gin glass for £5 would be £2 in Asda. As someone that utilised charity shops for the low cost I've essentially been priced out and have started buying things new and "fast" again.
Hi Mr c thanks 4 bringing us around the charity shops there were some nice bits in them, love going around the charity shops 4 a mooch u never know what treasures that u would find, take care enjoy the rest of ur weekend 😀♥️
Very nice designer bags in your charity shops. The kitchenware is also very nice quality items. I also thought that the wood round table is very nice
Yep, often come over and visit these Charity Shops also and have found some bargains over the years, Mind is good, and agree, it is pot luck with St. Christophers. I love decanters and have so many!!!
My parents have got that long orange le cruseut dish they make braised leeks in it mainly at Xmas!
You would make and store pate in the long orange container with lid. Rebecca x
You are right, their prices are all over the map. Congratulations for coming home empty handed, it's hard to do sometimes. Looking forward to seeing how the loft conversion is coming along.
I think that long La Cuisanart tin is for cooking fish so it stays whole
That was fun, thanks for sharing.
Everything looks great. Those window/balconies are amazing! Have a great weekend.
That tin you were talking about for 40. is for baking hard crust artisan bread. New that particular one runs about 130. Not a bad deal since it was in perfect condition.
Oh wow
It was so nice to see some awesome goodies in the Charity shops. Yes, some items have been over priced. I always on the lookout for your Vlog and Utube updates. Great 👍 job mrcarrington. Have a safe week.
The charity shops are just killing it these days, or at least in my neck of the woods. I’ve been picking up some really nice pieces either in clothing or bric-a-bric. I don’t know about anyone else but if I see an item which is 👌whether I need it or not I pick up, Am I a hoarder or do I have the bug! Lol
Oooh I spy the "Christian Louboutin" bowl when you went to St Christopher's 👀😍
Good morning Iwan. It was fun going on this trip with you. Loved that round glass topped table and would have purchased it for sure. I went thrift shopping this last week, found a water color painting that some one did of a restaurant scene in Paris for $3.49 but the artist didn’t sign it. Now it’s on the wall in my dining room. A few other nice bits too. Have a great week my friend. 🙏❤️✨☮️😘🏠💐☀️🇺🇸
Thanks for keeping me entertained at 4am while having snuggles with my teething toddler x
Great vlog Mr C ….. Thanks for taking us around your local charity stores always interesting to see what’s in store 👏🏻♥️xxx x
I loved walking around with you to the charity shops, I must see if I can brave mine in my local area soon, I have missed them. Thanks for this weeks trip! Have a good week ahead.
Hi I always love a charity shop ,we have some amazing ones in Leeds. But I've been on holiday in the UK and found the charity shops were so expensive .One shop though was really good for new items and we're selling a large amount of Zara clothes new with tags on that were this season too. They had men's ,woman's and kids stuff. They were in the heart foundation and said they were getting them every week .A lot cheaper than Zara and some really nice items too. They said Various shops were chosen so I'm hoping one of my local ones are doing this too.Maybe your is , definitely worth a look. Some charity shops need to watch their prices as people won't pay it especially if there is other ones around that are more reasonable . Looking forward to seeing whatever you decide to do next.
Gosh, some of those prices were steep! I live in Wales and thought our charity shops were expensive, but they’re cheap compared to yours x
I love a lot of the things you found .... but I think the winnie the pooh plates were my favourite!!
Loved going round the charity shop's with you, it's something I do often, but I couldn't see the prices very well to compare the prices to were I live. Prices have gone up so much in the last few year's, ever since they noticed we were buying to up-cycle to sell, is what I do, but to be honest with you, no ones buy's anything newer day's, I find it a wast of time, so instead I buy for me and my home now. Xx
I volunteer in a Samaritans charity shop and you would not believe the amount of people who come in asking for discount on things that are already affordable! Great video as always 😊
That must be so annoying! Thank you
@@MrCarrington very annoying and quite disheartening really
@@ragdolly22 we get that fairly frequently too, although just say exchange only now.
Omd, personally I would never dream of doing such a thing...but different folks different strokes.
I love a good mooch around a charity shop. I have loads to offload into shops too - and I know which of my local shops want the things I wish to donate. I must ring the Heart Foundation because I have some bulkier items to donate.
Hi, any idea when ur next blog on ur loft conversion will be? It’s been a while, since ur last update.
I’m aiming to film it next week 👍
Always excited to see your charity shop videos.
Thrift stores in America are quite high as well equal to the prices in England due to Covid and store closures in 2020. 14:21 ...1999 vintage pieces I would think 1950 to be vintage, but then again you are young enough to be my grandson.
Morning Mr C .. love spotting some fab bits in a chairty shop .. I donate too . It's also worth bearing in mind that some of the high street brands also donate , like m&s , Cath Kinston , Emma Bridgewater , Aldi , Primark . Especially around Christmas time . Yes some chairty shops do seam to be over priced on different things. It can be off putting yet works the other way round to ! What may seam affordable for one may not be for another ! Asking what's their best price on something you really like is ok it's how one asks 👍 .. happy Sunday have a lovely day XX ☕🍰
Last week I thrifted an electric pasta machine complete with everything for $7 usd., and a small crock pot for keeping dip hot. I really scored
Here in Los Angeles, our charity shop prices are sometimes higher than regular stores! I just donate money to favorite charities
That tin looked like a fish kettle, it should have a little tray inside. you might use it to make a meat loaf or pate. I have to agree with some of the comments I thought some of thoses things were a bit pricy.
Glad I found you thanks to the lovely Freya X
Thanks for coming over Julie 😀
I'm glad you looked at the le creuset. It is definitely meant for breads, quick breads like banana bread etc. That was actually a good price. I'm in the U.S and those go for well over $100 U.S dollars. I've noticed in general that London thrift store prices are more than U.S thrift stores. That being said your stores seems to have nicer things.
The le creuset not for making breads etc in it it's for making pate or stuffing in have good day am in UK
Ah ok, maybe we do things differently in the U.S. I've used them for the things I mentioned.
And they've worked out fine
Love looking round charity shops you can find some real bargains in there ,also love your videos amazing take care x
Luv the charity shop hauls. Your so lucky to live there- so there are fab. Ours not so much. Love your style too. Have a wonderful day. Take care 😘
Great video my lovely! I wonder if the glasses were priced for a set of 4 perhaps as that does seem a big variety of prices! Can’t beat a charity shop browse. I found some amazing high end pieces yesterday 👏🏼✨ xx
Wow expensive charity shops even though it’s a good cause. I’m going to Southport soon to see what bargains I can pick up there. You should collaborate with Katy Jayne she’s the charity shop queen of the north east, she gets fabulous bargains. I’ll watch to see what Freya gets, love her channel.
Hi Mr C!! Oooh this is my fave type of video that you put out (as well as your diy’s which I absolutely love!).
Those prices are way over what our local charity shops charge. Charities do employ paid staff as well as volunteers so not all monies go to the end cause people/animals if you know what I mean.
Hi mr c your videos were very nice going round the charity shops. But I noticed you saying you don’t mind paying as it’s for charity, but I’ve been going round charity shops for years.I learnt long ago the money doesn’t go to charity it’s only 1% go to charity read the small print it’s a Buisness. they are taking the good out of people that shop there obviously they don’t have the money to buy these things new, the prices are awful sometimes no need they get them free after all. Happy shopping 🥰
Hi Karen, appreciate not all of the profit goes to the charity but from my research the top 20 charity shops in the UK range from 16 - 42% going to the charity not 1%. So if an item is of quality I don’t mind paying a decent price for it knowing money goes to charity and there is also the environmental benefit too 😀
@@MrCarrington that’s very good I’m pleased about that years ago I was in Barnardos and read it at the counter it did say 1% but that was years ago but I’m pleased you have informed me it good percentage now love your videos ❤️
I think the long le creusuet tin is for fish poaching. Love the video
Charity begins at home and a lot if these shops should be mindful of that. Many families are struggling financially in these times so a little bit of thought would go a long way. In London it is expected I guess though. Could I ask if that was Ed Sheeran songs you were playing in your video @Mr Carrington Loved the music 😊
I’m a big fan of a charity shop. I live in Ipswich in Suffolk but when I go to my home town of Harrogate you can get some very different bargains! 👍🥰
I love looking at the charity shops in England, I live in the US now and the prices here are so much lower. Maybe it’s cause your near to London?
Gosh your prices are high for second hand new zealand much cheaper but you have way more fabulous stuff in UK love your channel thank you for all you show 💕💕💕
The Le crueset tin is for making Terrines
Very interesting video mr.C as an avid charity shop shopper to see the price difference from London to where I live (the midlands) is way different. I was in a shop yesterday and saw six cocktail glasses for a £1. The same shop is where I got my settee from and that cost me £20! My top tip would be bring an item home put an item in a charity bag.that way you don’t get too cluttered in the wardrobe and you are giving back too.
That sounds like a great charity shop! Love that tip
Congratulations with tv program love it
Great video mr Carrington 😎
