No, no. I hate stories like this. Being mistreated at home isn't an excuse to mistreat others who've done nothing to you at all. If you're being abused, tell someone. Your teachers, school counselors, really any school staff are all mandated reporters. But don't mistreat other people just because you got a raw deal in life.
Conversely, just because someone who's mistreated you is going through something doesn't mean you owe them anything. You don't need to "be the bigger person."

“You don’t need to be the bigger person“ OK then just let the cycle keep repeating itself. Go ahead and retaliate against your bullies and see where that gets you. Newsflash all it Begets is more violence and hate. If you really want to break the cycle choose love I know that is a phrase said several times, but love is the only answer to conquer hate. I mean, if you just fight fire with fire, all that’s going to happen as you make a bigger fire. Basically what I’m saying is your mindset is not a healthy one. You can choose to see it, or you can choose to ignore it in favor of your own views, which is entirely up to you. If you choose the ladder which I’m sure you’re going to, then good luck to you.

@Josh 95 I couldn't report her because her best friend was a cop. He told her that she could get away with anything. Ms. Erica set my math book on fire while yelling, "GIRLS SUCK AT MATH!" She then kicked the ashes right into my face. I put all those ashes in a plastic bag, each and every one of them. That math book was very special to me. It had everything a 7th-grader needs to know about math. On the blank notes page, Daddy handwrote the entire lyrics to You Are My Sunshine. Then he handwrote Psalm 23, my favorite Bible verse. And then he wrote a sweet birthday message, which said:
      "Dear Hannah,
Happy birthday, sweetheart. I love you. You are my sunshine. You are my heartbeat. You are the reason why I'm alive. From the moment you were a newborn, I knew in my heart that you would survive your premature birth. I have always loved you. As long as my heart is still beating, your heart is still beating, and the fish are still swimming, I will always be there for you. God loves you. Jesus loves you. We will be in heaven with God together, where we're safe out of harm's way. Be a good girl and drink your milk.
      Love,
      Daddy. 💜🩷"
I loved that math book so much. I took it everywhere, such as church, the store, the pizza store, the mall, the playground, to my cousins' house, to my aunt's house, to my uncle's house, to Grandpa's house, and I even slept with it like it was a stuffed animal. It was a special math book that Daddy made for me during his free time at work with the help of his friends. I still have that plastic bag with the ashes in it. It's inside my drawer. I kept it all these years. Right after Ms. Erica burnt my math book, she yelled at me for not having my math book. I told her that she set it on fire and she yelled, "I DIDN'T SET YOUR STUPID MATH BOOK ON FIRE, YOU STUPID ASIAN! YOU SEE, THIS IS WHY ALL GIRLS SUCK AT MATH! THIS IS WHY ALL WOMEN BELONG IN THE KITCHEN! I HATE ALL THESE STUPID CAREER WOMEN! THEY ARE ALL SO USELESS! NOW GO GET YOUR ASIAN *** IN THE KITCHEN AND GO MAKE ME A ******* SANDWICH, YOU LITTLE ASIAN *****!" I took the plastic bag with the ashes inside and went into the school kitchen and made her a sandwich. When I brought it to her, she said, "GIRLS AND WOMEN ARE STUPID AND USELESS! THEY ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING! ALL THEY EVER DO IS BLEED EVERY MONTH!' I developed depression and suicidal thoughts right after that. Ms. Erica was 25 years old when she was my teacher. Now she's 38 years old. She's now married to a man named Chris and has two children, a son named Luca and a daughter named Ava. Ms. Erica's sister is currently pregnant. Yeah. Ms. Erica called me a stupid Asian. Well, I was born here in America. I'm only half Asian, but that's on Mommy's side of the family. Daddy's side of the family is Scot-Irish-American. His little sister, my aunt Joanne, married a man from Laos, where Mommy also comes from. Ms. Erica also called me a mutated freak. Do I sound like a mutated freak to you?!

You never know what someone is going through it not always a good lesson or excuse and really has no bearing here. Just because Francine is being abused doesn't give her the right to abuse others. She has no right to seek sympathy from her victim and Cynthia is not obligated to show her bully and tormentor any. You don't need to, and I would argue, shouldn't always have to be the bigger person. I'm not saying Cynthia should have gone scorched Earth on her but she shouldn't have let her get away with what she did. Honestly she should have recorded what she show and then given it to the teacher, that would have been the best outcome for Francine without having to go befriend that vile girl... and yes Francine was vile.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”- Ephesians 4:29-32

My own mother taught me to be good to others because we never know what pain and anguish they may be going through. She was so right on target. It doesn't kill us to be good to others, but it actually could kill others if we were to mistreat others and they would give up all hope and it could kill us if one of those mistreated others others snapped and did uglies harm. Love heals. Ugliness harms. It's not that hard to be decent and it gets easier as one gets used to being kind and loving.
