I'm 16, why couldn't I have been 16 in the early nineties and grown up with quality music like smashing pumpkins... Don't get me wrong there's great new music out, but for kids, It's all about swag now. I used to ride bikes with my friends, knocking on their doors asking if their parents if they could come out and cruise to the candy store to get a slushy. Those were great memories. I'm also one of the few that actually call my friends and parents, but I feel that it's not the same..

I know we're just like old friends
    We just can't pretend
    That lovers make amends
    We are reasons so unreal
We can't help but feel that something has been lost
But please you know you're just like me
Next time I promise we'll be
    Perfect
    Perfect
    Perfect strangers down the line
    Lovers out of time
    Memories unwind
So far I still know who you are
But now I wonder who I was...
Angel, you know it's not the end
    We'll always be good friends
The letters have been sent on
So please, you always were so free
    You'll see, I promise we'll be
    Perfect
    Perfect strangers when we meet
    Strangers on the street
    Lovers while we sleep
    Perfect
You know this has to be
    We always we're so free
    We promised that we'd be
    Perfect

@1980NewWave i totally agree that every generation has it's good & bad artists, but today there's way more crap than there is art, but like you said we've got many from the 90's, like radiohead, the offspring, 311, and goldfinger, and the ones who disbanded but got back together: blink 182, eve 6, third eye blind, and rage against the machine, and those are just the mainstream bands that were most litened to, others were great but forgotten fairly quick

  • @3Hits4Felix

@johnjohnmajortom Sorry man i just now realized you're from canada so i don't expect you to know where i'm comming from, so i can forgive the absence of intelligence for our situation here in america. But still man think about the voting aspect why should you vote if you dont agree with either candidate, you're just pissing in the wind man, and idk about your country but voting obviously doesnt make a difference in mine when its two greedy puppets jonesing for a power trip/personal interest

  • @3Hits4Felix
    @3Hits4Felix 13 лет назад

@Mrgoosebags well i do agree with you partially on the fact that it's the peoples fault, but you also have to take into consideration that todays industry is filled with yuppy idiot suits, who manufacture safe bubble gum pop rock and new wave emo and screamo bullshit. and that's a huge problem when real artists arent getting the airplay they deserve, like Ben Harper and the Relentless 7, so yes i have searched for good bands and they are the only one i like with an exception of a few others.

I haven't really analyzed anything, but I think the video is different from the song. and I believe song is just about two people who had a bad relationship, as well as a bad break up with a lot of angst involved, but these two people meet later on in life, and they're hoping to start completely over, just like perfect strangers.

And here he was, withdrawn from his friends and family but still at the height of his fame, meaning his fans and his management demanded a new album, which he had to do on his own. To be honest you'd have to be a pretty talented person to suffer all that and only make a half-decent album, while Adore is a great one. Then during Machina, D'arcy then began doing drugs, then left for an acting career, James was still in his pissy self and they still suffered bad sales. I think Billy knew the....

I am only 16, 17 in March but I hate the world we live in. People these days, just rely on everything they have. I know that I have only been used to this but the stories my parents have told me sounds like it was a much better world in the 80's etc... In this world we live in now, you will get a text from someone saying they are outside but they will not knock. Why? People need to stop relying on everything they have and the world needs to change! That's what I think anyway.

I wish you all the best and for the safe return of your husband. Rob

Although I miss the 90s like crazy, there's no sense mythologizing it as a decade of wall-to-wall great music. We had to deal with Hanson, for fuck sake!
Point is, there was good AND bad stuff then, just like there's good AND bad stuff now.
Don't any of you listen to Arcade Fire? or Interpol? or Kasabian? to name just 3 great current bands.
And hey, many of the 90s bands are still around, making new albums and touring.

I was 18 when this came out. I was pretty depressed teenager (no, not a sob story...life's great now at 31....fuck I'm old :)) and for completely unknown reasons, this song captivated me. It had that mixture of a great overall message, nostalgia for the way things were, and sadness for the way things could never be. Particularly poignant that the two-timing girl loses BOTH guys - one presumably dies in the car accident, the other one arrested and likely tossed in jail.
    SP always.
