In Japanese media Yasuke is always refered to as a Samurai. So the question is, are the Japanese too stupid to understand what a Samurai is in their own culture? They portray him as a samurai, that's for sure.

Hell there's a 1968 children's Japanese book about the Samurai Yasuke that won the Japanese writers association children's book of the year the following year.

Ghost of Tsushima was made by a US Studio as a love letter to Feudal Japan. They got so much right, and had an incredible and complex Japanese protagonist and story. This AC game is a slap in the face, with almost no reverence to such an important historical time.

Amazing. Japan was THE setting AC fans wanted the most. Had they done this with respect, it would've printed money on it's own. Ghost of Tsushima did it respectfully and Japan was so happy they made the lead directors ambassadors to Tsushima island.

Shogun had a literal Japanese tea master consult for any scene that involved tea. That's the level of effort you need to make something accurate/respectful. Ubisoft could never. Their historical consultant is a Japanese gender studies PHD who wrote a book about Buddhist minks having relationships with young boys. Go figure.
Yasuke would have been a great NPC though, something like Leonardo in AC2 where he helped out Ezio throughout the story. Yasuke was Nobunaga's retainer so the dude would have played a role in the story instead of doing Assassin stuff.
Yasuke wasn't even Nobunaga retainer, actually Yasuke met Nobunaga in late 1581 and Nobunaga died 7 month after that. He was more like his curiosity pet. Nobunaga wrote some line about Yasuke, and no single line mention him fighting, the bushi thing can be accurate but being a Samurai and taking part in Nobunaga campaign is pure bullshit.
You know what? We should all ignore this. I've seen so many comments, oh, don't like it, don't buy it. Okay. Buy Ghosts of Tsushima. Buy Yakyza. But the Onimusha remaster. Hell, make that last one chart just to make a point. But don't even give Assassin's Creed the time of day.
Add nioh to that. It's supernatural, yes but still a good game. Based on a real person who did end up in Japan, and actually earned the title.
I still hope they remaster the other Onimusha games. I heard they teeter off a bit, but I'm curious.

now i know the history of my country, yasuke was a slave by portuguese and then he was saved by nabunaga and then Yasuke was a servant of Nobunaga and Nobunaga give to him food and hot bath everythink he needs and because of that yasuke was loyal to Nobunaga as a servent and nobunaga made a promise to Yasuke before nobunaga died and the promise was “i will carry yasuke as a friend and friend how got invited in my country should not be part of the battle of my country and that’s not your business” and then nobunaga give it to him a boat before everything is turning to the ash to get back in his country and for what we know about yasuke he lived three years only in Japan. So it’s impossible to be a samurai for three years and the most important thing we need to know about what ubisoft did It is to literally insult the promise that Nobunaga had made with Yasuke and because of that, that's the most disrespectful i ever heard in my entire life as a japanese person and a promise made by a samurai and promise made for a man to man and a promise made by emperor of japan for honore

It is a historical fact that Yasuke existed, but no historical record of him fighting on the battlefield has been found.
If he had been an official samurai in the first place, he would have been given a surname.

As I recall Ghosts was panned by critics, but if memory serves critics in Japan felt the game was well done and showed tremendous respect to the culture of the samurai and Japan.
Finally we get an Assassin creed game set in futal Japan about ninja's and samurai's, and this is what we get. Unbelievable. All my excitement is gone for shadows.
This game's greatest accomplishment is uniting every ethnicity against agenda pushing.

If Ubisoft really wanted to do something about diversity (representation), it could have made a game set in Africa. Our African culture is also rich, and I'm not ashamed of it. Ubisoft now stop using my race as an excuse for diversity.
Aside from the Yasuke debacle I thought Ubisoft were moving away from big tanky melee characters. It should have been all about the fast, nimble Ninja who you can play as a female or male like in Odyssey and Valhalla. Assassins Creed Shadows never needed 2 protagonists but we all know why they did it. Pathetic F U Ubi

Assassin's Creed in the past: a franchise all about secrecy, stealth and being a shadow.
Assassin's Creed now: Make a blak man an assassin in feudal Japan sticking out like a sore thumb.
They should just have character creation and let people make their char look however they wish or have them wear hood constantly like in AC1. What i find is the real issue rather than player character appearance is ubisoft not hiring actual japanese people as consultants. There is no excuse in the internet age to not hire people from other parts of the world for any creative process.
