The only issue I have with my 6S Plus is that occasionally the battery drops down to where it won’t start up without being* plugged in. . . . and then it shows about 36%. Tracing this has been difficult, probably because I’m on my third battery, a “non-apple” version.
I picked up a 4000mah battery from Amazon it was easy enough to switch out. It’s anxiety inducing but it’s doable. After the battery swap the phone runs silky smooth and has pretty much double the capacity of my XR. I downgraded because I record music on my phone and need a Jack.
@@techbuildspcs it doesn’t matter where you buy. You will get this mismatch between the battery and the circuit board because apple’s circuitry is not expecting a third party battery. The phone measures charge by measuring the voltage of the battery, which is an extremely inaccurate measure. The voltage decreases quickly in the beginning and slowly towards the middle, then quickly towards the end of the discharge cycle. That’s why your phone dies on 30% - the third party battery will never interface with the phone correctly. Especially if the battery is higher capacity and the original.

I’m a heavy user, and I had to use my old 6s Plus for a few weeks when my XS Max was getting repaired just before I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max in September. The 6s Plus actually did everything I needed it to do and the battery was manageable (I have an aftermarket high capacity battery installed). Such a good phone to come from Apple.

Apple will kill it...they kill all their products.. that's why they are worth trillions.. just imagine if you had to replace your car using the same methodology..
@@dominicstocker5144 not quite sure how the android realm handles obsolescence of their devices. Several companies produce android devices hence they all probably have different shelf-lives..since Apple is on their own here, they can do whatever they want to any or all the devices they sell and will continue to kill off everything forcing replacements to be bought all over again. Basically your 5 year old car is in excellent condition, served its purpose, but the manufacturer decided to disable, permanently, the computer(ecm) of the vehicle rendering it scrap or parts. Now you need to replace it even though it's literally still useable, it has been crippled by design. Cars thankfully last as long as you want them to last; smartphones however, well, you do not get to decide that. sorry for the rant..be well😎
Thing is, my 6s, quiet a bit loaded (like 90/128gb) and used for 5 years (even with a new battery) runs not even close to that speed you showed here. I could not open the camera while listening to music on my AirPods for example (music would start stuttering wich would only resolve after force closing it), and the phone would generally overheat very quickly making anything horribly slow.
You are right. I have an old iPhone 7 as my spare phone. And my friend bought a new 6S, we wanted to try out iOS 15. That phone was 2x faster then generation new iPhone 7.

Ok, but the thing of it is, is that I have an iPhone 8 and I’ve been using it for about 3 years now. I’ve noticed that though it runs pretty well sometimes, it can get REALLY glitchy when a lot of things are happening at once or just in general. Not to mention that it gets really hot when playing games for too long or just opening the Minecraft app, for example. Sometimes it would get so hot that it would become unbearable to hold and I’d have to put it in the fridge. Literally. And that’s the Iphone 8. I don’t even want to imagine the iPhone 6s. I just feel that this video isn’t being the most realistic with overall performance in not putting the phones through different circumstances. Sure, maybe just opening apps will make it seem like the 6s is still worth buying because it still works pretty well, but when you really use it and really put it through many situations, you’ll see just how bad the older phones are compared to newer ones. It’s just my opinion though.
The 6s on its (assumed) last major software is a testament to how apple has progressed with optimising their software on older devices, remember the 4s? That was brutal on 9
I am still using a 6S+. I have the battery changed last year and I have absolutely no issues at all. The difference between these 2 phones and 5 generations is minuscule when you also compare the cost of ownership of the phones as well.
My favorite iPhone of all time is the 6S. I upgraded to an 11pro mainly due to the far better camera - especially in dark conditions. The 6S battery was never enough to get me through a full day but with battery cases so small and inexpensive I could easily get 12 hours of hard use with no trouble.
I have the iPhone 6s and except of my battery life I am extremely impressed and happy with its effort 👌🏽 so good it’s still on the newest version. Even text scanning works at pictures.
I am confused... Is it good that iphone 6s is still close to iphone 13 in day to day apps or is it bad that iphone 13 barely has difference after 6 generations in day to day performance ofc
I mean if you had a 6s like I did for many years you will see a total difference. After 2 years of using my 6s I had limited storage and poor battery life as well as glitches. I have the 12 now which is a big upgrade. He just happend to have bought a new 6s phone which is why it looks clean and up-to-date
The iPhone 6s keeping up and scrolling with no lag is the reason I still love apple devices.. Apple iPhones are not expensive.. They’re worth every penny because of how long they can stay future proof.. My X still performs awesomely and I’m just so impressed with such longevity.
Not expensive 😂😂😂🤣🤣 it's because you don't live in Brazil .. here the minimum wage is 1.110 and the iPhone 13 mini is 6.000, the 13 pro max 1tb is 15.500 ..
Notable here is that apart from the games, most tested apps were webapps that spend most of their time waiting for the actual content to be loaded from the internet, where CPU performance does not make much of a difference. (gmail, twitter, instagram, amazon, soundcloud, etc)
I had a Samsung Galaxy S7 with iphone 6s. The S7 unfortunately died few months ago after 4 years of using it, now you can already tell, I am using 6s as daily since then. Its amazing how this phone holds up to this day in terms of usability on social media and daily stuff.

Using a 6s and 6s plus on 15.1. Anyone notice battery chunks down anywhere from 4 to 10% drops at times. Batteries are apple installs with about 95% life and 200+ cycles so far. Love to hear what others have experienced
I have a 6s plus with 15.1, with screen brightness always set to 50%. I believe I replaced battery in 2018 but my battery has been shit. Won’t go a few hours or less without needing to be charged and I’m always on set on Low Power Mode to extend the battery. Went to the store the other day with the screen brightness on 100% to read the maps. In about 20 mins, battery dropped from 20% to 1%. Decided today would be a good day to upgrade. Battery life is at 88%.
Still have the original battery from 2015! I experience this too but magnified a lot! My phone sometimes lasts 2 hrs other times 30 mins. Sometimes it says 1% and I restart it says 36%. Then it shuts down but turns back on with 20%. Very weird phone…
I have a original 2007 MacBook and the battery life says it’s good even tho I never use it, it still holds a charge for like 2 weeks without being turned on
That is why i love iOS. Its a phone that just works the way I intend to make actions and I dont have to upgrade every 2 years. I averagely upgraded my iphones every 4 years but my old ones still work
Check your battery health. It may need to be replaced. Mine was at 75% and performed like yours but replaced mine for $40 and is a night and day difference
Transferring from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 13 definitely shows the speed difference, it’s such a good feeling too. I felt bad when rage tapping my phone when it would freeze up but it was very annoying. I haven’t had that issue with the iPhone 13 so far. No problems at all.
The real test the entire world is looking for! Edit: yep, no complaints regarding performance. Battery is the main issue. I also use a oneplus 3 as my main phone. That came out about 10 months after 6s , has a better processor and 6GB ram. It’s battery life is very similar to 6s, and performance too, running android 9, but the main reason it’s my daily driver and 6s is my secondary is because of its fast charging. I easily get 4-5 hours of usage on it, and just a 30 minute charge gets it upto 70% . I leave it when I go eat a meal and get back, 100% charge. It’s a beast because of its battery and apple really missed a HUGE opportunity by skipping fast charging on this one.
iOS brings nothing to the table in terms of upgrading screen size. I see no reason why people would choose to get any phone other than the 13 Mini. They should’ve just expanded the 6’s screen size equally. They hardcore focus on going taller for no reason at all and then put 65% of the actions in an unreachable place.

Latley we learned 13 for example doesn’t t have noise cancelling during calls while 6s has and 13 overall is to big for my hands, I drop it all the time. I should have bought 13 Mini or not at all. But on ios 14; 6s battery was almost unusable if you are always on move…
6s was my favorite iPhone ever. Wonderful design for the time!

Funny, I own a 6s for 3 years and I just bought an iphone 13 last week. I actually miss the form factor of the 6s which is easier to grab. It is true that I didn’t see that much of performance difference for basic apps. The battery life seems 2x times better on the iphone 13.
Buy only original battery, it’s too simple and much much better
@@john7912h nahh the original sucks and is 6 years outdated. New larger capacity battery and the phone is a powerhouse
Because you are buying garbage ones. Buy parts from injured gadget's
The stickers show that you care about your audience, not all of us are Uber tech nerds that can differentiate between iPhone models, thanks for taking the time of writing those stickers it made it easy for me to identify the phones.
I had a 6S plus for years it was my favorite phone by far, I remember when I first got my iPhone 11 Pro Max (when it first came out), it was plugged up to the charger and I kept saying “hey Siri” but wasn’t getting a response. Then all of a sudden I hear my 6S in my jacket hanging up saying “I’m still here”, almost made me shed a tear lol .
Great video. When you think how slow the oldest supported devices were a few years ago ( iPhone 4 iOS7 or iPhone 4s iOS 8 or 9) it has improved wo much😀👍🏾
I'm using the Iphone 6s plus till today. The only things that bother me are the battery and the "small" screen size compared to the new devices. I love the touch-ID though.
I am on a 6. Looking at updating. How big a deal is the loss of Touch ID and what was the last phone with it?
You need to add a timer next to these tests. It would be good to see a quantitive measurement
I renewed the battery of my 6s, works like a champ. Renewed my 8plus battery. Both have touch id and i am happy.
I love how you have the post-its at the top with the numbers. I don't think i'd be able to keep the 2 apart otherwise!
Thanks for labelling the devices, I would have struggled to tell them apart
Upgraded from my 6S to the iPhone X at the beginning of 2019 and now to the 13 mini at the beginning of 2022. I’d probably have kept the 6S longer if the charging port didn’t die on me. It was a fantastic phone at the time.
Why upgrade from X im just curious
@@NikosApla It started to slow down on me after the iOS 15 update and I was running out of storage since the X was only 64gb. Not too big of a deal but the trade in offer on the iPhone 13 mini was too good to pass up.
My X was still in near perfect condition from being in a life proof case since the day I bought it. It was a good phone but the 13 mini was too good to pass up on. Love the size and being able to text one handed.
I’m bad about deleting old apps and backing up old photos to my MacBook but I did all of that after the 13 and now I have 100gb of space to work with out of the 128. Hopefully it lasts me a while. I had photos going all the way back to when I had an iPhone 5. That’s how long it had been since I backed up and removed photos from my phone.

The 6S used up 40% of it's battery over 2 hours doing this test...also, these speed increases may seem small, but added up over days/weeks/months, it does make a huge difference.
It is impressive how the 6s is still holding up, investing fifty bucks for a new battery after two or three years is worth it if you can keep it for this long.
I bought an iPhone 6s in 2015 and I’ve been using it for the past 6 years. I love everything about the 6s but I changed my phone now and I upgraded to iPhone 13Pro.

Apple will kill it...they kill all their products.. that's why they are worth trillions.. just imagine if you had to replace your car using the same methodology..
@@NightFoxx1 doesn’t the same go for android phones but worse?
Was just about to make this point; a newly formatted device isn't the same as a device that's being used as a daily for a while.

I really couldn't tell a difference between them. Thank god for the stickies
Minecraft can be a pretty intensive game, I remember playing on early iPod touches and iPhones (like 4-6) and it would get extremely hot like that.
The 6s on its (assumed) last major software is a testament to how apple has progressed with optimising their software on older devices, remember the 4s? That was brutal on 9
I think it's mostly the better hardware. The A9 chip was very overpowered at launch. The iPhone 6 is stuck on iOS 12 and it's just one year older.

My favorite iPhone of all time is the 6S. I upgraded to an 11pro mainly due to the far better camera - especially in dark conditions. The 6S battery was never enough to get me through a full day but with battery cases so small and inexpensive I could easily get 12 hours of hard use with no trouble.

I am confused... Is it good that iphone 6s is still close to iphone 13 in day to day apps or is it bad that iphone 13 barely has difference after 6 generations in day to day performance ofc
Of course it’s good because whoever buy the iPhone 13 now he will not face any problems in terms of performance in the next coming years.
I mean if you had a 6s like I did for many years you will see a total difference. After 2 years of using my 6s I had limited storage and poor battery life as well as glitches.
Very weird phone…

iPhone 6 is 7 years old and opens everything just a second or 2 behind the 13. That in and of itself is impressive.
I still have the 6s running 9.2 and 12 pro max running 14.7.1 and the 6s speed up faster in everything !!
Bought my 6s Plus in 2015 and still using it now. Only reason I’m upgrading this year is because of the sunset of 3G and the force upgrade.

The only reason I’m thinking about upgrading from iPhone X is storage, my Face ID is broken, and the battery is low health and apps keep crashing.
iOS brings nothing to the table in terms of upgrading screen size. I see no reason why people would choose to get any phone other than the 13 Mini. They should’ve just expanded the 6’s screen size equally. They hardcore focus on going taller for no reason at all and then put 65% of the actions in an unreachable place.
