You can kinda fix the problems with the bunny-spider farm by just have more bunnies and making it farther away from your base. On my megabase world, I put my farm around 1.5 screens away to prevent spiders from attacking fences. With ten bunnies you are basically guaranteed to have no problems with spider queens.
tbh if you count Abigail as a spider killer method I would incloud Wormwood's bramble husk with any health regen... as it is super effective method. but please do not combine bramble husk with bunny or Abi, it will lead to war for example: if you play in two ppl team, Wortox/Wigfrid + Wormwood, that team can kill all spiders, like... server stability is the limit
Okay here is a little known absolutely OP spider farm but it does require 2 people for it to operate namely Webber and Wendy. It basically takes advantage of the fact that every time Webber upgrades or shaves down a nest it will replenish the spiders in it meaning Webber can just spam build up and shave down between a tier 1 and 2 nest for infinite spiders limited only by the time in a day and amount of razors in your inventory. I would definitely only stick to swopping between the level 1 and 2 nests bevause if you go all the way up to 3 and back down again they can spawn too many spider warriors for Abigail to handle without a decent amount of potions.

in one of your videos when you were playing as webber, you had this thing that allowed you to park your spiders. can you go into more detail about that?

What if, instead of Bunnymen, what about Merms? Specifically, Merm guards? They will be very friendly with a king, are much stronger, and are out all day.
Problem with that , you will need to have an active Wurt on the server. All of his farms can be activated by any character . Sole exeption is Wendy but Abigails entire thing is mob slaying - if you have to swich to a specific charachter to use the farm , might as well be her.
If you are a wurt main spider farming is extremely easy as wurt to the point you can put like 5 tier 3 nests by your base if you have enough merm guards

I made my own spider farm by just putting the egg on the edge of a boat. That means it can’t grow to tier 2. Then I just rowed the boat over to where my 2 walled bunny men houses were. Let me just say I get quite a few stacks of meat.
I think I'll change up my bunnymen/spider farm to be more like yours, with about 10 bunny huts. And I'll add some catapults to kill the bunnymen around the twinkies. Win win.
5:20 u can make second enterence from the back and place chest outside, assign W.O.B.B.O.T to monster meet and let it collect it when u are outside the farm.
Only problem I ever had with spider farms is the why. Even megabasing I don’t need more than maybe 80 silk, most of that is for sewing kits and bug nets. I rarely use glands because food is so much better for healing. It’s not hard to farm that with Dabigail in a forest in a few days. Even accounting for a character swap, it’s still quicker and more efficient to just use Dabigail than to set up a whole farm in my experiences.
Good for keeping noob friends alive. they love the silk for tophats, 4 monster meat is meatballs, and they constantly need healing and reviving. I love my friends but they suck at DST and the spider farm helps a lot
@@trots4940 noob friends dont know how to make good food. They spend half the food experimenting in the crock pot making lasagna and wet goop. The other half is me making meatballs for them so they dont die
@@trots4940 they know how to make meatballs, but i always encourage them to experiment. More fun that way and they get to find their own favorite crock pot dishes. A friend of mine found out how to make surf and turf all on his own and now he always makes a staple to base near wobster mounds :)
Great video! Unfortunately, I play dst on console so anything more than the bunnyman farm would cause the game to lag horribly. Gives me a reason to use bunnyman though, I don't use them enough.
Question.. unrelated to spiders: How does the tree growth mechanic work? If I was to cut down all the tree on the surface, would there be o more trees? Or do they just randomly spawn from forest areas? Or... do they need a tree to spawn from, like beefalo spawn a single calf every so often?
Trees are part of the world's natural regrowth which you can turn off and speed up in world settings, trees themselves rotate between being dead, small, medium & large. Otherwise a natural forest will always spawn trees over time unless it's already too dense or there's structures/turf that block the trees from spawning :)
