This is one of my most played Battlefields, might seem weird considering the limited gameplay, but the simplicity and vibrant visuals are exactly what made the game great, good maps and 2 simple modes and 3 classes. So sad to see this go.
This was released when games were actually still good, everything now is just microtransactions to get better. This game was for me, the best battlefield on console for sure
Servers went down around 5:40 CT 😔 The sad thing is, during the game right before shutdown, people were getting kicked out until it was just me and a couple guys left on the other team, then poof, everything was gone forever. I'm glad I was able to get one final kill (using the bombers) just seconds before shutdown. RIP Battlefield 1943. What a lifespan this game had.
this sucks. i’d buying an xbox right now if you could play still. i played on ps3 back in the day and it hasn’t been live on there for years i think. good times. wonder if someone could make a pc port and host some open servers🤷♂️ i’d love to get a chance to play it again.
For real, this is the issue here, all we need was some bots... heck, considering this is working on the same engine version as BC2 they could have atleast added something bot related seeing how we had the Onslaught mode on BC2 (but in this case with an offline option).

Battlefield 1943 is a legendary game, and one of the very best online games ever made. Sincerely hope they re-release an updated 4K version of it. BF 1943 is way to good game to just throw away forever
I remember playing the demo of this back in 2009 when my brother was at school because he pre-installed it while gone. And it was a one time play only, but I sunk so much time into it and thought it was literally the most realistic thing out there. We ended up buying it later that night, and pretty much spent my whole entire summer break playing 1943, Halo 3, and GTA 4. Crazy fun times on xbox live back then.
Why this game was so balanced and enjoyable was because of the LACK of upgrades etc. You pick your class and off you go. It was a true meritocracy you want your stripes through learned experiences.

I just finished the Tour of Duty 2, 100 Games Achievement. I actually recognize a lot of the names of players in this video from my matches in this last week. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we got to play together. I do plan on playing a bit more in the last week before the Servers go down. I'd played the game around the time it came out, but never completed all the Achievements. After doing 100 games, I think it was a fine game. Bad Company 2 is one of my most favorite FPS ever, it has the same game engine as 1943, Frostbite 1.5. I think 1943 definitely has some issues but despite though, and especially for the price it was released at, it really was a great game. December 8th will truly be a dark day in gaming history, and my life. Like I said, Bad Company 2 is one of my most favorite FPS ever made, one of the best ever made. I've contacted EA so many times since March in an attempt to get them to revert this decision, or give us PC server hosting tools. They've never given a satisfactory response. To not give us the ability to host our own servers after taking the masterserver down is ridiculous and disgusting. It's truly a loss for gaming and game preservation. I've meant to play a lot more ever since the announcement and I'm going to play as much as I can in this last month. What a heartbreaking loss. Thank you so much for this and your other videos over the years. EA doesn't give a shit about the love we have for this game apparently, they bastardized it in 2042 and didn't do it justice. But it will always live through videos like yours, our memories, and 3rd party projects to allow server hosting like "Project Rome", and the various GitHub projects that allow us to create our own Servers. o7
It is very disappointing to see these games go away. Particularly Bad Company 1 for me since I guess I never bought it digitally which is tragic, thought I had. I do believe the online community will help keep what is available going to some degree. It's just really sad for that one since it's locked on console basically. Anyways, glad you enjoyed the videos, it was fun to dive into these again before they vanish forever. Such a shame.

This truly is a devastating loss for gaming and I'm honestly really struggling with it. I've been crying and I don't think I'll ever really be ok with losing access to the Multiplayer for these games. I know they're just games, but games are experiences. It feels like I'm forever losing a friend, as silly as that may sound. 💔

Everything about this game was so good. The destruction, the variety of vehicles, the fact that the whole map was usable, being able to get to the enemy spawn, simple yet fun classes, unique abilities for each class, way the objectives were laid out and how difficult they were or weren't to capture. Absolute masterpiece of a game that doesn't get the attention it deserves. It is definitely be a standard for FPS war games. Additionally, the physics were realistic but not at the same time. They were realistic where they needed to be, but the places that it fell short, were the exact same place that made it so fun.
Today is the last day the servers are up, played a couple of matches (1st game we dominated on Wake island, 2nd on Guadalcanal was literally down to the wire, still pulled it out somehow) This game was so simple but somehow ended up being very memorable. I think it's my most played multiplayer shooter ever. Going to miss it. 😔

I played that game online for years and I very likely would have continued to right up to the present day, had it not been for the fact that I got locked out of my account, and Sony (in case you didn't know) has a HORRIBLE support system and that happens all the time. Anyway, it was a nice shooter, and was easier to pick up and play because it didn't have too many extra things going on and players couldn't level up to the point of having huge advantages over newer players. It was a lot of fun and a lot more relaxing than the other shooters and I think it's a shame they are shutting it down, especially without giving us something else to take it's place.

I was about to re download this for the nostalgia... Such a shame... Playing this was one of the peakest times of Xbox live, I remember trying to get as many kills as I could to contribute to the community kills needed to unlock air superiority mode. It would feel too daunting to start it up and go into the tutorial with no where else to go. I think i'll keep it in my memory. I cancelled the download...
Although my time with it was short, I enjoyed every second, every minute every hour and day. It’s sad to see this happen. But hey it is unique, simple, and that is what made it fun. After 14 years of service I understand that it’s time for this game to retire, and for us to move on. Wish I knew it sooner. My most played games of 2023 was this one. So now that they took my main BF away I deciced to give another chance to BF5 which just became my new main BF game.
This was my first BF experience. Playing it w a group of 5/6other dudes on a mate's birthday (we were on 1st grade, maybe 14/15y.o) Sharing turns & a bucket of kfc wich was also a first. Best day of my 26y.o life still. Thanks for uploading & the memories :)
The (fluid) bolt-action rifle gameplay still amazes me how good it was for its time. I also played 'Heroes' the f2p cartoony version of this. Man those were the days!
I played Battlefield 1942 when it first came out. Let me tell you how amazing of an experience that was. I didn't have a console at this time sadly, but it's one I absolutely wanted to experience.
I remember when my mom gave me the money to buy this game on my 11th birthday and man i never put the control down this game will forever hold a spot in my heart truly does suck how games just arnt what they used to be the simplicity of it all is what made them so additcing and so fun i wasnt worried about a new 50 dollar skin or grinding to get a optic unlocked just played to have fun man i hope the gaming industry makes it backs to its roots till then farwell BF1943 💔❤
