How about Peter's vision before Cornelius, where God says "do not call anything unclean that I have declared clean? Are we then to abstain from fish without scales, no pork, etc? Appreciate your take on it. Thank you.
Peter received the vision in Acts 3 times because 3 men, apparently Gentiles came to see him. Gentiles were considered disgusting, or unclean by the Jews from what I can see. Peter even says this in Acts 10:28.
Peter doesn't understand his vision. He ponders it. At Cornelius' home he finally understands. It has nothing to do with eating unclean. God was using unclean animals as an analogy so he could fully understand. Jews considered Gentiles unclean and would not associate with them. How could they remain set apart (holy) and go witness to them? After Peter's visit he tells us the meaning. Acts 10:28 & 11:18. Also 10:14 He's never eaten anything unclean 5-7 years after the cross. Why not?
Dear Paul van Cleve, This is so true thank for your ministry of RUclips
The Lord was showing Peter that these 3 men were indeed sent by Him, and were not to be considered disgusting. He was not telling us to eat ham.
Godbless u
