    Myself along with many others are gutted to hear you have gone into liquidation. This is a sad loss to the physical media collectors. You did some amazing retro tv series over the years and I’m glad I built up a good collection of your DVDs as the scalpers will now be ripping people off.

    I am devastated at this news. I only found out about it this morning after reading about it on the Film Score Monthly forums. Then I thought, it couldn't be true, surely? So went to my Network account only to find it has been suspended.
    Now what worries me, if another company does pick up the baton, will they have the same passion for British archive film and TV material that the Network team had? Will the little things that make a DVD/Blu-ray set complete, like the regional station idents, adcaps, and the shows complete and unedited, still be retained? This is what made Network a much loved company.
    It all just seems so sudden when you think of the massive Crossroads boxset came out just a few months ago, and the recent announcement of the Blu-ray edition of OUT starring Tom Bell.
    First Simply Home Media collapsed, they replaced DDHE (remember them?), they produced some great BBC TV archive material like Angels, Softly, Softly, Z cars and Dixon of Dock Green and now Network have gone. Looks like a Blu-ray edition of Minder, The Sweeney and Gerry Anderson's, Thunderbirds, is now a pipe dream. Sad times indeed for us physical media collectors.

    I managed to snag the holy grail. Sweeney series 1 blu ray. So happy. And not too expensive. I do wish you did the whole thing. Why didn’t you? 🙁🙁
    I’m glad you brought out obscure things. But at what cost? I hope someone takes over. I pray BFI would be the one.

      Yes but bfi wont bridge the gap, you know the kind of stuff they release. Granted they released some good rarities but they very lofty in what they think peep want to see , they always reminded me of bbc releasing stuff using some old stuffy professor stuck in his loft since the 50s. 😂 2entertain is our only bridge now...and acorn at a long stretch of a rubber dingy (dingey being the word😂) what will we do??!😮

    It came as no surprise to me that Network went bust, and not just because of the fading popularity of DVDs & Blu-rays. Everything about the company was erratic and unreliable, it was catering to a diminishing audience, and its practice of issuing some items in various stages of mastering was ridiculous. Having said that, along with many others, I will miss its output of older, mostly British films, TV series, etc., I own over 100 Network releases.

    I belonged to a tv forum where for years I voiced my frustration at Network & where they were headed. The customer service was poor with their core buyer base left in the dark re release dates, etc., half hearted attempts at streaming content & the release of frankly unworthy B movie material and niche tv series at the expense of classic tv like the aborted 'The Sweeney' blu rays.
    The fact that no spokesperson for Network has informed us, their loyal customer base, of what has happened to the company is I'm afraid par for the course.
    Of course it did not help that supposed 'fans' of archive tv copied Network releases & uploaded them to youtube, something I have reported to them in the past, but it has long been a trend that ought to have been policed by Network themselves.

    • @DVDandFilmBloke
      @DVDandFilmBloke Год назад +3

      I guess the only reason Network couldn't police it is because they don't technically own the rights to the content itself; they licensed it out from other companies. The job of policing it is in the hands of the copyright holders, so ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Sky etc.
      They did have a lot of great films in there library, the Alfred Hitchcock films they released, Defence of the Realm, This Sporting Life, Animal Farm etc. Although some of their TV show sets are a bit much for what they are.
      Yeah I've heard the horror stories about their customer service, a friend of mine ordered some titles from them and they were never dispatched so I was always weary of their site (I usually got them elsewhere). The fact they were still operating like nothing was wrong and the fact they never announced it officially is not on. In fact I had to use Companies House to confirm the worse (Plus the website was recently changed to say they have been liquidated).
