- This Panther Ausf.G. with turret number 111 originally came from Pz.Regt I./24 and was with Pz.Regt I./16 when it was knocked out. According to statements by veterans of the 116th PD and residents the tank fell over due to detonation pressure by dropped bombs into the Ourthe river and landed on the turret. Other sources say there never was any bombing on the day when the tank was driving over the bridge and it dropped into the river because of bridge failure, the damaged to the bottom of the tank was done by American soldiers looking for souvenirs. The crew of the Panther either way died because of the impact or drowned. This Panther was recovered out of the river Ourthe by French engineers on 20th September 1947. the remains of the crew killed in the attack were discovered when the Panther was pulled from the river. The Panther saved by the major of Wibrin that wanted several tanks to be placed as tourist spots for the future. Over time wheels and other bits were sold to tourist and the tank was left to the elements. It was taken to the Bastogne Barracks Museum in 2017 for restoration, it was then shipped to the The Krings Collection in Germany to restore the suspension system, tracks and wheels. And was shipped back in 2023 to Houffalize and was placed under a newly built roof adjacent to a small museum free to visit.

Just brilliant! The rubble pile to the excellent restoration and the stance of the tank is just fantastic.
Indeed it is!
Just a stunning restoration and display of the past. Whomever designed the display and built it, did wonderful job.
the Panther , now looks a lot better than it has in a long time
This is what a monument can look like.
A beautiful monument to the brave young men who fought and died, and to the innocent citizens of the town who were trapped in the middle.
Wow what a fabulous memorial welldone from UK.
Thank you. Much nicer display of the armor now. Thank you for showing us.
You're welcome.
Beautifully done restoration on the Panther. A Comfort to the Crew who remains with their Armored Charger. Time has passed and the drumbeats of War have faded. The sounds of everyday Life going on around the Silent Reminder are a fitting Tribute. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Amazing display great restoration thank you for the video
You're welcome.
Looks so fresh and ready to go , glad to see that it has been care for
I have seen this tank the first time in 1974. I was 11 jaer at that time.
That really is a stunning display and a fine tribute to the brave young men that perished inside that beautiful tank.
What a sick teenage fetishisation of the nazi war machine you must have. I hope you grow out of it.

By far the best war monument I have ever seen. Beautiful restoration and place.
At 6:06 the plaque says Sherman, I'm guessing an error?
It sure is and the history plate tells about the Wibrin Sherman and that the major saved the Sherman and this Panther tank for the future.
Gelungener Film über ein gut restauriertes Kettenfahrzeug.
I would to see this tank 👍👍! I'm glad that they gave some shelter to protect for the elements in some ways. I feel sorry for the crew that have not survived....
Yes they really went all the way for this tank, but I think upkeep seems to be really non at all in this region, because the front deck plates were already extremly dirty for something that's under a roof.
@@WalkingwithPanzers thanks for replying but think that they could have made a far better job. It's sad.....
@@Тикуля-р6бcrew drowned but story is vauge
They also never really cleaned the old spot and monument so I'm not suprised about it.
OutStanding job all around .
Nice display, it is fine to see ❤, if i was 2016 there the Panther was in a bad shape !
Very nice!!!
Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome.
Nice tank, thanks
That is a monument and protected from elements top and bottom
Is there anywhere on the web that talks about this stunning restoration?
There some on FB, but I think i'm the only one that did a video on the restoration.
Shame the centre cap on the left drive sprocket seems to be missing.
I have pictures of me in the hatch from a visit in 82
Wow
Is the placement of balkenkreuz-es correct? Was it a field modification?
I don't know I can't find any pictures that show them like this, but If they did it this way it was probably what it looked like in 45. It would have been a crew applied cross because the factory would place them at the front of the hull side panels.
Very cool. A reminder to all what happened over 80 years ago, and what a supposedly advanced culture can do to innocent people that get in the way of their plans for world domination.
When was that Panther repainted?
Restoration started in 2017, so it took a pretty longtime.
@@WalkingwithPanzers actually repainting the tank is the easy part and is the last thing to be done.
Houffalize.
What is the noice???
I am supriced you still have that tank as of lately all i hear and read from your president Putin is we western europeans are all nazis
The Panther ausf G is the last Panther variant build by Nazi Germany this version of the panther didn’t break down on hills as much which this variant was ment to rectify those issues with the engine but the transmission still was an issue
poor restoration, where are the mudguards?
It did not have them in 1945 and they tank is made to look like the vehicle in 45.
