- So, lets address some stuff that you may ask.
1. I know you can flavor a familiar to not be a slave, obviously. You should flavor it however you please.
2. Normally I would not take proficiency in investigation AND dump intelligence. But I want to have a bit in con and dex for a bit more survivability for new player. More experienced players can be more discerning.
3. I do mean volo kobold. Pact tactics is worth it. You can still this with other small races like a gnome or goblin.
4. You can use any subclass for this too. The magic lamp isn't that important for this.
5. I recommend taking the invocation Investment of the Chain Master.

I love quasits dude. They are great.
Sadly, RAW you can't actually use flock of familiars to summon more quasits, only "normal" familiars. But you still can have A quasit.
The character sheet at the start of the video was the starter melee fighter from LMoP.

To my credit, the quasits are from the plane chaotic evil, and the video is full of them haha

I got the fastest bones in the west
If you multiclass with 3 levels into Sorcerer, you could cast dragon’s breath. It is a touch spell that gives the target a breath weapon. Because familiars can deliver touch spells, you now have an attack drone with a flame thrower on the fly, (or any other element it could provide). Twin it and give yourself a breath weapon as well because why not.
Or if you are lucky, your teammate could have that spell.

@@theuncalledfor Unfortunately, the spell requires concentration. But if your sorcerer has at least four sorcery points, then go wild with you flame thrower attack drones.

If your friend is also a Sorcerer, then it's 4 flame drones instead of 3.
Your Sorc dip with Twinned Spell hits 2 familiars, and your friend the Sorc hits another 2, to make 4 flame drones!
Or whatever other element you choose.

Even if you only took packt of the chain master and use an single quasite as your familiar it is still an pain for the dm.
The ffers are resistant to nonmagical damage, immune to fire and some other stuff, on top of that they are perpatually invisible.
Ya i was not kidding about making the dm mad in that last bit.

I make the long videos for long subjects. But for short stuff like this, nothing more than 2 minutes. I can't understand why people would make a build video that is 30 min long.
Glad to see some undead activity coming from the bone zone once again. Can’t wait for the next Buff video (also totally going to use this build if I play warlock but might use Imp instead of quasit for flight)

Graviturgy wizard is arguably even more potent. As familiars can deliver touch spells, you can first cast immovable object on the enemies shirt, jacket, or armor (up to 10 pounds, so light armor for example). As the enemy is thereby completely immobalized, you just fry him with shocking grasp (touch cantrip) untill crispy.
immovable object has no saving throw, so there is basically nothing the enemy can do about it.
Also your familiar can use the dash action so to not trigger opportunity attacks. Alternatively just pick the owl (flyby property). Have it stay out of reach, then take dash, swoop in, deliver your shocking grasp as a bonus action and then GTFO of range. The only defense would be if the enemy anticipates this and holds his attack action untill the familiar is in range to kill it as a reaction (ready action). In that case, just dont attack with it and the enemy thereby wasted his action and reaction as this is a fixed decision you can not revise.

I'm tempted to say that build videos tend to be so long because they go into deep dives for every level and exactly how and when they start to work, and show how they work from the very beginning.
Like, the common Hexadin comes to mind . There's a thousand ways to play them, but they tend to focus on the End Goal of what you want from each class, whether that's just a single level of warlock for Hex Warrior and Curse on an otherwise straight paladin build, all the way to the opposite side of 2 levels in paladin for divine smite, and everything in between (though usually the suggestion is *at minimum* 6 levels in paladin because Aura of Protection is that busted)
And also that it's not necessarily that hexadin DOESN'T function until Total Level 7, since even at 3rd level any of these builds can function, you just don't necessarily have THE things that make it shine.
Though, Dronelock is neat because I can totally see where we go from there, grab as many Summoning spells as you can get your grubby little claws on to get bigger, badder, and more Combat focused drones (Since let's face it, familiar combat scaling kinda sucks). Your Familiar serves as a scout, while your summoned Fey, Lesser Demons, Shadowspawn, or Undead serve as your drones with Third level spells (Though you lose out on your swarm of familiars when using it, but for combat it scales well while swarm of familiars serves more for utility)
- Then with Level 4 spells you upgrade to Abberations, Greater Demons, and Spirit of Death at your beck and call.
- And then at 5th level spells you can access Planar Binding, Danse Macabre, Infernal Calling, and/or Negative Energy Flood if you want some damage ANY some undead minions in 1 spell.
- And finally you have your Mystic Arcanum spells, which eventually hands you your choice of conjuring Fey Undead or Fiends, a 7th level spell of your choice (sadly the only "summon" spell in that option is Finger of Death which is more the negative energy flood make undead when people die thing)... And though it's not a summon, you can eventually get True Polymorph to allow your humble kobold to achieve the greatest dream of every kobold, to become a True Dragon.

I literally made this build but took vicious mockery and insulted the bastards before I sent them in to die. I actually just swapped to pact of the talisman because my dm was getting mad that my pack of imps could just carry my vessel everywhere while invisible and give my whole team permanent advantage while I lounged in the corner and insulted everyone before poofing away back into my vessel. Love the content, you are my favorite dnd youtuber.

Does this work if your not a small race? Building a summoner type warlock so having this as an option to give advantage (through help action not pack tactics cause I’m a genasi) or simply for when we need to spy, taking ten min to have the short rest and regain both slots while doing it sounds amazing
i prefer going in with sprites, and get the metamagic feat to twin the spell. So you can send in liek 10 sprites firing arrows that cuas sleep on a dc 16 sleep that if you fail the save by 5 you pass out and if you fail regularl y you get poisoned. deal with 10 of those savves a round mr. DM. i've take down dragons with this one spell.

4. How many levels in Barbarian are you acquiring from WotC's balancing method of "release better options"?
1. The new edition isnt for awhile, so ill keeping making videos until then. And when it does come out, idk. We shall see.
2. Races? Well im making a plasmoid short cuz they are a bit lacking. But to WotC's credit, they did do a decent job of fixing the other races with their new book. So no.

Sadly, Flock of Familiars can't summon more quasits, it can only summon Normal Familiars. Though using 1 quasit is still practical.
"Each familiar uses the same rules and options for a familiar conjured by the Find familiar spell." Pact of the chain gives more options for the find familiar spell.
And even what i just wrote is wrong, I dont think there is any DM that would't allow it to work with pact of the chain, because not allowing it is super lame.
@@bonewizard That's a fair point, I just know I brought it up in a server and I was immediately told that's not quite how that works, and thought to note that myself. Though a fair point that it might not quite be RAW but it's interesting.
