      I feel the same way--just not enough hours in the day to get to it all! As if I could ever really get this good anyhow.

    Tommy's great. "Sunday morning coming down kind of thing" regarding Merle's playing style. Great one. I wonder how Tommy got those bear-claw scratches at the tail piece. Nasty.

      He used a screwdriver for that. He does that for his Drum solo on guitar

    The most mind blowing thing that I can't get my head round, and I would love the opportunity to sit down with them and and try and get my head round it is... The people who give these performances a thumbs down?? Why do they do it, is it envy, are they tone deaf, do they hate everything, do they just moan all day, is their glass always half empty?? WHY?

    I'm so sick of the hype surrounding the "usual" "best guitarists ever". It's tiresome, especially being a guitarist myself for so many years that has worked so hard to be good--then you get a guy like this that comes along and most of the common "geniuses" have no clue who he is. Just goes to show even being as ultra-talented as Tommy Emmanuel one can still be pushed aside for the typical fly-by-night players that are out there or past guitarists that have garnered dubious distinctions of "greatness". I saw Tommy in NYC about 3 years ago--best one-man show I've ever seen. Now THAT is virtuosity folks!

      Bob Dee totally agree
      Do you know what gauge strings he uses? And what would you suggest on an acoustic

    • @marcohabegger4291
      @marcohabegger4291 5 лет назад +1

      Hi @@m3bbas139, it depends on the guitar tuning. For normal tuning he uses Martin SP Flexible Core MXF740 Light (.012 - .054) and for the other tunings (D-Drop, whole guitar down to D) Martin SP Flexible Core MXF750 Medium (.013 - .056)

      Hi Marco Habegger I would like to take your opinion about what strings I should you on my acoustic the problem is that I play 9s on electric and I recently got an acoustic. The 2 are so different and too far apart do you think I should switch to thinner ones on my acoustic or do you think I should keep going with the 12s and develop the muscle.
      Really appreciate that you replied the first time

      Hi Seeko, I know it is really hard to switch from 009 to 012. To be clear on that, you could go for 011 first but you won‘t have the same sound. I first played 011 but then switched to 012. I would suggest to take the 012 or at least 011. make sure your guitar has a nice set up. The better your set up is, the better your playing and the comfort. The Martin SP Flex core is also a good choice. the flex core feels lighter than normal strings. Maybe you should try these ones.

    Beside all his greatness about hundreds of awesome songs and playing, his physical abilities are so noticeble, like he is a tall dude and he has bigger hands, especially fingers, and flexible finger joints, very strong hand grip. He uses heavy gauge strings on his guitar for bigger sound! I don't go over 12-53 ,for me it would be impossible to play I think, also not every guitar can stand heavy gauge, for example on my Larrive LO3R i use only 11-52 according to the factory setting.
