Tbh, I love all the movies but there is always ups and downs because no movie can be perfect. In fact, when I first saw Iron Man 2, I was too young to understand anything so I still loved it but each time I watch it, I prefer it less!
@@obsessedsolid7763 same for me, I think the reason why I can appreciate it the way I do is because I have the memories of going to see the first 2 iron man films as a kid
I was only 13 when this came out and I absolutly loved it. Over time I've started noticing the problems more but overall I still like it. The reason I think it's supposedly decreased in quality is simply because we've been spoiled with absolutly incredible super hero movies that break into other genres and show us something new. I also like Don Cheadle over Terrence Howard and I absolutly loved Sam Rockwell, he's brilliant in everything he's in. Also some great action scenes- Tony v Whiplash in Monaco and Blackwidow against the guards. It's probably one of my least favourites but still an enjoyable movie
Just rewatched it, much better than I remember. It could have used more whiplash and a little more action but overall an enjoyable movie. I think the first time I saw it, I was also missing Terrance Howard but I’m much more accepting of Rhodes this time. I liked the final battle here more than iron man 1 too even if it was pretty short.
I enjoy both villains, the party scene is embarrassing but a rich, drink, self destructive superhero would do that. I always thought it was a more extreme version of the party in Batman Begins. I find it very fun and underrated.Better than IM3 8/10
What a blast. An extremely underrated movie that I believe to be the most over hated of the MCU. Many call it terrible, many call it a commercial, I call it good. Just because it has elements that tie into other movies or reference them or helps set them up, does not mean that it is just a commercial. The story has a clear start and end and wraps up all that needs to be wrapped up, while leaving it open to continuation. It's not just a set up. It's a bag of fun, it's funny, it has great characters, and great action sequences. The strength of this movie is most definitely in the characters, Tony is brilliant as ever, Pepper is relatable, Hammer is hilarious and fun to hate, Black Widow is good (I think) as the double triple agent, and Happy is endearing. The only character I think is bad, is Ivan. Purely because of his lack of depth, the potential was there, just not used, the first bad marvel villain thus far. But Hammer is fantastic. An underrated movie that doesn't deserve the hate. 7.5/10
This is, in my opinion, the most underrated MCU movie and I put it around the middle of the pack. It's the only MCU movie that doesn't feel restrained by the Marvel formula. Yeah it's kind of all over the place, but I think that's part of its charm. Also, Justin Hammer and Whiplash's scenes together is amazing. They're always arguing about the suits, the bird, and their different personalities bouncing off each other is perfect. I would actually like ot see Hammer back in the future...maybe he can get in good with General Ross and try to get his revenge on Stark?
About the Mark V Suitcase Suit you mentioned at 4:17, the suit isn't built like the others. If you watch the suit-up scene, basic wiring and smaller, lighter plates make up the Mark V as opposed to the heavier, larger plates and more complex technology in the other suits. At the end of the fight, you can see how it was severely damaged. One of the repulsors was damaged after two whip strikes and several plates were broken off. You can see Stark's racing suit through the damage. As for the movie, I like Iron Man 2. Just like The Incredible Hulk, I think it's underrated. It is one of the weaker MCU movies, but it's not bad. It suffers from too many subplots and Avengers setup. Ivan Vanko is one of the weaker MCU villains (again, that "evil version of the hero" thing). I like the action scenes and I like Black Widow's introduction.
You've got Tony stark, the chemisty of him & pepper. The action scenes are great. But the villains are boring & there's not enough action and because of that it can be quite slow. I like how we see young Peter Parker
am appreciating this movie more on a rewatch. i agree the plot lines are very convoluted, that's why i didn't feel great about it the first time. but now i got more from the story and i was able to appreciate it more. i think it ages well from this perspective.
Think you should review end of the f***ing world. It’s a really good Mini series on Netflix, it’s a dark comedy with brings you on a roller coaster of emotions and I think you should watch it as well as everyone
Sam Rockwell might be over cookin it but it works for me, easily the best part of the movie imo and I wish he would return in a future MCU film or maybe on Marvel Netflix
Tony should have just stopped drinking, the real cause of his blood toxicity ehehe. 10 years later and Tony's still one of my favorite characters though, that's a legacy right there.
Grade: B Score: 7.5/10 Pros: Great acting once again Introduction to Black Widow Justin Hammer Whiplash (for the first 45 minutes) Introduction to War Machine Wonderful final battle great action sequences Liked the whole plot of Tony getting poisoned from arc reactor Very enjoyable Cons: The party scene Tony getting drunk - it felt out of place, weird, cringe and too realistic Not a clear conflict Whiplash was underused Spent way too much time on Tony and his arc reactor Felt quite rushed at times Pepper’s character More action sequences needed
To me Iron Man 2 is a fairly decent movie. I think it gets way too much hate and is one of the most underrated movies in the MCU. It's got great action (although not a lot of it), the villains aren't bad (Vanko is ok and Hammer is good), Robert Downey Junior's acting is fantastic, as are the rest of the casts, it gives Tony more development especially with his father and the final battle is fun to rewatch. I'd give it a solid 6/10.

Great video and love your channel, however I think this movie has aged better than I realised. At the time of first watching I was confused by the set up this film did, i didnt understand who black widow or nick fury was and the plot seemed confusing. Looking back and knowing where these characters end up I think this film is elevated to another level. Furthermore the film focuses on how the government would respond to someone creating an iron man suit, at the time I didnt appreciate this story but with films like civil war and BvS looking at the consequences of heroes actions, i think this film was ahead of its time. Overall on paper i think this film is better than it was executed and probably needed the extra year Favreau wanted.
While I agree with you for the most part, there are a few things on which we differ. The main through line of the movie is that being Iron Man is killing Tony. That is where our stakes are coming from. Every movie doesn't have to be about the world ending. If you will recall, the stakes for the first Iron Man were very personal as well. While overall the movie was busy, all of the plot lines dovetailed into a single, cohesive story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was an amazing story, but it was cohesive. As a matter of fact, I rank Iron Man 2 at 14 out of the 17 MCU movies we currently have. I definitely agree it hasn't aged well. I enjoyed it far more when it came out and likely for many of the same reasons I feel like it failed now; excessive world-building. I loved seeing all of the world-building when I first saw the movie at the theater because other than the post-credit scenes in the first two movies, we really didn't have any concrete movement toward building the MCU yet. Looking back, it was too much that they tried to cram into an already busy movie and I feel like that is where Iron Man 2 failed the most.
I think the other big problem besides all the plot lines is that Tony's character arc (if you could even call it that) is extremely uninteresting. it's just essentially he's sick and he has to build a machine to cure it. all the conflict is physical, there's no internal conflict, making the story feel extremely hollow.
"Iron Man 2" took a while to grow on me, but I wound up liking it more after multiple viewings. Whiplash is actually a compelling villain, and Rourke did a good job with what he was given...but I do feel they misused him. I disagree about the lack of tension, though; action is not the only way to build that. The plotline of Tony dying, and his desperation to find a cure, is probably my favorite aspect of the whole film. My only real disappointment is they never named the element he rediscovered; I thought Tony would egotistically call it "Starkanium" or something.
The blood toxicity plot doesn't really make sense, because in the first movie it's established that his arc reactor is powerful enough to support his heart for several life times. So why don't he just use a less powerful but more safe source for his heart and not have the arc reactor connected to his body? I mean, wasn't Tony supposed to be a genius? Also I thought the sudden "by the way your father was a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D" was stupid. Yeah, I guess it's possible, but why would you tell him about it now and not back when you came to talk with him about avengers initiative? The action scene in the end was pretty damn good though
I agree Iron Man 2 was decent, I seen it four times. Iron Man 2 was a weird experience because I felt like seeing it twice in the cinema. I grabbed the DVD but I got rid of it after awhile. Those connections were weird since Iron Man barely had any.
I enjoy this movie. RDJ's charisma and more ac dc make this a fun entry. Its at the lower end of the mcu for me, but it is much better than things like iron man 3 and thor the dark world.
For me it's one of my least favourite in the MCU, yet I still like it. The movie lacks in good villains and delivers 1 good plot in Rhodys probl3ms with Tony being Tony. Don Cheadle, ScarJo and RDJ are fantastic Actors and are playing their roles really lively. I don't like the scenes where Tony is partying and I think that Pepper is as bad of a character here as MJ in Spider-Man 2&3. 5/10 D+
I feel that Ironman 2 built up nearly every character except Tony Stark. But they did build up his Ironman persona a bit in terms of armour and motives.
I found Iron Man 2 one of the most confusing movies in the MCU but that doesn't mean I didn't find it really entertaining. It was really refreshing if you want to learn more about why Tony is so cocky and mean to Captain America, it is because his dad was so interested in Steve Rogers and talked about him so much and that's mostly why he treats Cap so badly. Overall, not too bad, probably a 7.5/10.
What I didn’t like about this is that his heart dying all that and that we barely even get to see the villain love the vids btw I’m late on this series I can’t wait to see infinity war
Iron Man 2. Its an entertaining movie, fun to watch and the idea its going for is a good one. The problem, execution. The movie feels rushed at times, and it has too many things going on at times. Its a whole hell of a lot better than The Incredible Hulk though. I like this movie. Its a good one. Re-watching didn't change my list at all.
I’m so glad I’m not the only that thinks IronMan 2 hasn’t aged well. I bought IronMan 2 to have in my MCU collection, but haven’t watched the DVD since 2012 when Avengers came out. I was excited to re-watch the movie the other night. I commented on my Instagram review (peterpans toybox) that my head kind of hurt after watching IronMan 2. Now with Sean’ s comment about 12 plot points I see why. They tried to put too much storytelling/MCU moving building in the movie. They introduced 2 new villains, 2 new co-heroes. Try to fill out more of Tony & Pepper relationship. Tony’s father issues and link Stark family to SHIELD. Try to fit Nick Fury in and the Tony is sick & has issues with alcohol I felt that Agent Coulson’s 2 scenes were force/unnecessary. I also found the whole drunk party fight scene off putting/stupid. The only saving grace is the great finally battle with 4 version of military drones. Also the setup of Senator Stern played by Garry Shandling for the later movies. The Senate hearing scene was classic as was the little award ceremony at the end. Oh well, not all movies can age well. And at least IronMan 2 continued the momentum into Thor & Captain America:First Avenger which lead to great Avengers movie. ( it will be interesting if I enjoy Thor better now cause I found the movie rather boring in 2011)
It's been a long time since I've watched it, but i remember not likeing it. I can't make specific comments because i havent bothered watching it since it was in theaters. I have both cinimatic universe sets. Just always skipped iron man 2...maybe I ought to give it another chance
I'm sorry, but this criticism falls apart in several places You say there's not enough action in Iron Man 2, but Iron Man 1 only had roughly 21 minutes of action. You say the stakes were too low in Iron Man 2. But again, in Iron Man 1, the villain was simply peddling weapons to foreigners. The only possible on-screen innocent deaths were in the single digits during the "Collateral Damage" fight. And it is possible to care about Tony even when he's at his lowest. We know he's a jerk, but his morals are in the right place. This never changes, no matter how low he gets. Just as a bonus, while the MCU is about many heroes, I personally believe Tony Stark is the star of them all. He (and his father, technically) started it all, and Tony was the only one left at the end of Infinity War. Despite his flaws, he tried the best he could to keep the team together, but by the end, he had lost everyone - either by death or parting ways. He was alone. I won't elaborate further. Avengers: Endgame is out now, and I'm sure he'll redeem himself, but I haven't seen that movie yet, and I kinda don't want to give spoilers, even if the embargo is lifted now. In my opinion, online conversations about the MCU should be spoiler free unless the viewer specifically seeks out spoilers. It's quite a cinematic achievement. That's why I kept my synopsis in this comment as vague as I could. Watch the movies for yourselves. I highly recommend it.
@@Zuon94 we have all had these moments, and again,my comment. Just review the movie, makes you look like the type of kid that wanted a hamburger with no onions, mustard and ketchup, and no tomatoes. With your drink filled up to a certain amount, and more than just large extra fries
I’m a bit ahead (I’ve already seen Thor) and while it might be a slightly better movie I find Iron Man to be a much more interesting character, so I therefore have to give the edge to Iron Man 2 over Thor as that movie had a hard time keeping my attention and so far have Thor being the worst out of the four I’ve seen followed by Iron Man 2 next Hulk and the best as of now Iron Man 1
The second worst for me. I just found it so unbelievably slow and I was choked by all the setting up for the later films. I adored the racing action sequence, but the rest was very forgettable to me. However, just not as bad as Thor: Dark world because of Robert Downey Jr.
I agree a lot with what you said about the film. I think Iron Man 2 has a confusing plot and mediocre villains, and I don't really like it. I would give it a 6/10, and it's my least favorite MCU film.
It’s a never watch it again movie. I think this is Downey’s weakest performance in the MCU, as there’s no development to the Tony Stark or Iron Man characters individually. It’s just more tech and more gadgets. Whiplash was a good villain with not enough screen time. And they shouldn’t have given him such a quick out in their first fight because that led to the biggest mistake of the film: the giant suit he used at the ending of the movie. The positives are so hidden, but I can say there’s just no good thing really. Maybe Justin Hammer’s charisma helps the movie give a bit of a push to the viewer to finish it. No extra credentials.
I actually like this one more than most, it's a really fun movie! Hilarious, I think it being a commercial is way overblown. Mediocre villain and a few poor jokes aside- (C)
I'm watching them all each week but probably gonna skip IM3, I haven't seen it since it came out but I think it's only Mcu movie to not have any ties/ Easter eggs/ or connections with other Mcu movie. It brings nothing new. Characters, plot , consequences, etc. so u should talk about that when u review IM3.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout wow i wasnt expecting a response but what i meant was i just watch movies for the story like iron man 2 developed the story so much for his charactor and thats why i love this movie and i know the movie obviously wasnt the best but you said you expect action from a superhero movie and thats why the movie isnt great but i just disagree thats all
We route for war machine to stop tony from acting like shit......rhody nvr wanted to give the technology to the gvt to make more suits..... There is an introduction to all the plots then hero deals with his shit(RDJ is awsm as tony, nick fury cameo and storyline with his dad which develops tonys character)coz he thinks villain is in prison where as he is getting ready with a fool who is hell bent to defy tony.....he solves his personal problems and then it all comes together at the end I think its constructed well enough....its just that the movie did not age well coz the stakes were not as high as MCU movies that came afterwards and the final battle was not choreographed well enough

Now this thumbnail is legendary!
I actually created a different one with me in the Iron Man suit butnit didn’t look good enough for me. So I dropped it.
This is one of the few positive things on a Monday!
MARVEL MONDAYS!!!!!!
I agree Iron Man 2 was decent, I seen it four times. Iron Man 2 was a weird experience because I felt like seeing it twice in the cinema. I grabbed the DVD but I got rid of it after awhile. Those connections were weird since Iron Man barely had any.
Yeah it’s an odd one
i liked the tony personal problems the most in this movie i think this movie is super underrated
YESSSSS couldn't wait fir this! Love this series man!
Thanks so much for watching.
I enjoy this movie. RDJ's charisma and more ac dc make this a fun entry. Its at the lower end of the mcu for me, but it is much better than things like iron man 3 and thor the dark world.
Biggest issue to me was they ended it with another guy in a suit vs. Iron Man. Just bigger fight. Meh. They needed to try something new.
Did you catch the spiderman Easter egg
Depends on what you mean
Good review
Can you do a review on the greatest showmen
i like this movie
( it will be interesting if I enjoy Thor better now cause I found the movie rather boring in 2011)
Yeah it did give us more iron man but waaay too much for him to do. I like it less each viewing.
It’s a good film but a bit scattered but also all the story lines kind off connect together
Laser gun... *facepalm* it is a particle accelerator.
It's been a long time since I've watched it, but i remember not likeing it. I can't make specific comments because i havent bothered watching it since it was in theaters. I have both cinimatic universe sets. Just always skipped iron man 2...maybe I ought to give it another chance
I'm sorry, but this criticism falls apart in several places
You say there's not enough action in Iron Man 2, but Iron Man 1 only had roughly 21 minutes of action.
Were reviewing a movie, not the youtube video reviewing the movie we are
@@darksidegaming1851 What good is a review if the reviewer contradicts their own opinions several times?
@@Zuon94 we have all had these moments, and again,my comment. Just review the movie, makes you look like the type of kid that wanted a hamburger with no onions, mustard and ketchup, and no tomatoes. With your drink filled up to a certain amount, and more than just large extra fries
I’m a bit ahead (I’ve already seen Thor) and while it might be a slightly better movie I find Iron Man to be a much more interesting character, so I therefore have to give the edge to Iron Man 2 over Thor as that movie had a hard time keeping my attention and so far have Thor being the worst out of the four I’ve seen followed by Iron Man 2 next Hulk and the best as of now Iron Man 1
The movie is not that special compared to some of the other MCU films, but it's still really fun to watch :)
Meh movie but it has one of my all time favorite scenes (Howard's video recording to Tony)
The second worst for me. I just found it so unbelievably slow and I was choked by all the setting up for the later films. I adored the racing action sequence, but the rest was very forgettable to me. However, just not as bad as Thor: Dark world because of Robert Downey Jr.
Great video
Thanks
Why haven't you take down the christmas stuff
I don’t have a replacement design yet.
Sean Chandler Talks About You should drive through my neighborhood at night. 90% of people still have their Christmas lights up
Without Iron Man 2 the movies after wouldn't have as much impact.
LOVE this movie.
I agree a lot with what you said about the film. I think Iron Man 2 has a confusing plot and mediocre villains, and I don't really like it. I would give it a 6/10, and it's my least favorite MCU film.
I don't wanna sound like a hater but it was just annoying for me I honestly hated it. please don't hate on me its just what I think of the film
You should do a video on how to fix iron man 2
I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. One of the weaker mcu movies. Nice video Sean! ;)
No extra credentials.
iron man - top class
iron man 2- crass
I honestly do disagree with you Sean, but its your opinion. Personally I love this movie.
I actually like this one more than most, it's a really fun movie! Hilarious, I think it being a commercial is way overblown. Mediocre villain and a few poor jokes aside-
(C)
C+ for me as well
The only thing that I didn't really like was drunk Tony
Great video I'd give it a C
I'm watching them all each week but probably gonna skip IM3, I haven't seen it since it came out but I think it's only Mcu movie to not have any ties/ Easter eggs/ or connections with other Mcu movie. It brings nothing new. Characters, plot , consequences, etc. so u should talk about that when u review IM3.
Well when I get to MCU connections that will come up
Personally like this more than Age of Ultron.
I think Mickey Rourke's character was kind of lame, but I sincerely like Justin Hammer
I’m hoping Hammer makes an MCU comeback
iron man 2 hour trailer for the avengers. :)
yep
Yeah pretty much.
69th view, I know, I am immature
I liked Iron man 2, I just didn't like the villain, and felt that the villain died too quickly.
some people watch for the story not the action man
I don't really know why you're telling me this.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout wow i wasnt expecting a response but what i meant was i just watch movies for the story like iron man 2 developed the story so much for his charactor and thats why i love this movie and i know the movie obviously wasnt the best but you said you expect action from a superhero movie and thats why the movie isnt great but i just disagree thats all
Sean you forgot about Avengers movie set up
Yeah I talk around it, but I don't think I specifically mentioned that
There is another action scene: Black Widow
this movie is a 10/10 because of the mark 5
I don’t dislike this movie but I’ve seen it so many times that it just bores me now 😔
Iron-Man 2 Is Good Film But Set Up The Avengers I Give IT 8.4/10 B-
You should rank the marvel movies!
I mean in Journey to infinity war.
my score c pluse entertamint level 7.0
I believe that it is not Christmas
Christmas lasts a long time in texas
Well said
We route for war machine to stop tony from acting like shit......rhody nvr wanted to give the technology to the gvt to make more suits.....
There is an introduction to all the plots then hero deals with his shit(RDJ is awsm as tony, nick fury cameo and storyline with his dad which develops tonys character)coz he thinks villain is in prison where as he is getting ready with a fool who is hell bent to defy tony.....he solves his personal problems and then it all comes together at the end
I think its constructed well enough....its just that the movie did not age well coz the stakes were not as high as MCU movies that came afterwards and the final battle was not choreographed well enough
