Rhaenyra would have been a wonderful queen of the seven kingdoms. I think Aegon was killed by his "helpers" who realized
that Aegon II was not worthy to be king. So, yeah, he was poisoned.

Honestly though, if a king does not think about the commoners he doesn't deserve to be king like the two brothers. They seemed detached and only want to sit on the throne for self interest. They wouldn't mind sacrificing the common folks so long as they are sitting in the Irone Throne. Rhy may have made sacrifices but it was for the good of all and what she thougt was right at the moment while the two brothers were like Marie Antonette "Feed them fish" even Allicent didn't care about the people so long as she can keep her kids in power.

Doesn’t “deserve” to be king? I think the concept of deserving anything in the ASOIAF world is non-existent.

And that is what Jaehaerys the conciliator was so successful as a King, he and his wife Alyssane cared about the small folk as well as the noble and highborn families, the united the Kingdom after the tragic monarchy of their father Aenys.

Royalty thinks about rule before people throughout history. Peace was not result of a happy kingdom. Disputes with other kingdoms controls treatment of people

@@lizbrown6943 in the case of Westeros it was absolutely necessary, all we have to look at the fall of Aegon II Targaryen? Before Queen Rhaenyra marched on Kings landing there were a number of self proclaimed fringe fraction rulers which the most notable was Aegon III Targaryen’s cupbearer Gaemon Palehair who led a group of followers from a makeshift throne atop of Visenya’s hill, the seven kingdoms was in chaos after the dance of the dragons simply because there was no king or queen to unify the realm and lead it to prosperity and preserve peace and stability , Jaehaerys achieved this over the span of 50 years.
The kingdoms of Westeros was constantly crying out for divine rule over chaos and instability and knew full well it was the only way peace and prosperity could achieved.
The only Targaryen Kings who notably enforced this will was Aegon the Conquerer, Jaehaerys the conciliator, Viserys the Peaceful and I suppose to a degree Aegon III Targaryen

The confusing part is the constant hypocrisy of enemies. Stark was on his way to King's Landing to do battle with and possibly kill King Aegon II, but someone poisoned the king first, saving bloodshed. So what does Stark do thereafter? He proceeds to round up the kingslayers and punish them for treason? I don't understand it. How can there be treason against someone who wasn't deemed to be the rightful king in the first place? And wasn't Stark's opposition to Aegon II deemed as treasonous as the poisoners? What's the difference? And why wasn't Stark glad for the help?
The same thing happened in the HBO finale of Game of Thrones. Why was Jon Snow punished for treasonous murder of Daenerys and no one else was for their murders? It's a game of thrones, isn't murdering the monarch fair game?
The same in the beginning of the HBO series. Everyone hated The Mad King, but hated Jamie Lannister even more for doing away with him. Why?
This recurring theme makes absolutely no sense. The people whose lives are being saved, accuses the lifesaver of murder, treason, and regicide. It's so stupid and counter-intuitive.

Can you imagine? A perfect example is with the mad King. He has to carry the name Kingslayer the rest of his life because he saved the realm. But I think it's human nature being portrayed in the show. No matter what you do, there are people that will have a thing to say about it.

My whole thing about it is Dany actually succeeds in burning all of Kings Landing and so Jon kill’s her saving thousands of more lives and really the only thing saving him from an actual execution is that his cousins are both now each kind and queen of their kingdom, while Jaimie killed a king before he could burn kings landing saving half a million people and he died…..like two days before that and he wasn’t even executed he died 😅n the arms of his lover

I get what you mean, I suppose it depends who’s in power and who does the punishing. Cregan is a man known for his honor, so yeah even though he opposed Aegon II as a combatant, he is still disgusted by the treacherous deeds of his murderers.
Robert Baratheon when he seized power , disaproved of the Lannisters but, did nothing about Jaime murdering the king, Tywin sacking the city, and the mountain raping and killing Elia Martell and her and Rhaegars children.
Like I said differences in Honor.
