    lions been doing this all season though, i feel like people forgot that. ALL season when they took a HUGE lead in 1st half, they couldn't close in 2nd half.

  • @tnekeroom9897

    The Reynolds drop on fourth and two was by far the biggest play of the game. He catches that ball and I have no doubt the lions score and eat another 4 minutes off the clock and the lions are up 31-10 late in the 3rd quarter. I thought the slip by Gibbs at the end of the half was big too. He doesn’t fall and that’s a touchdown at the end of the half and I don’t think the niners comeback from that.

    • @tnekeroom9897
      @tnekeroom9897 4 месяца назад +3

      The fumble was huge too as well as the other drop by Reynolds. Williams, and Laporta both had big drops too. Oh, and the back to back dropped interceptions by the lions that led to the niners cutting the lead to 24-17. My goodness, a lot reallly did go wrong for Detroit

      @@tnekeroom9897at least the La Porta drop was a 49er helmet knocking the ball loose, can't really fault that one on him it was just an unfortunate bounce for Detroit, I think the fumble is the biggest play of the game. Even with the missed 4th and 2 and 51 yard fluke, the Lions still felt like momentum was kinda in their court. if they drive the field and score on that drive to go back up 2 scores they probably escape with a win. i said in the moment they lost the game on that fumble.

      One hitch is all it takes. JTO breaks down Purdy's INT really well, it was there, but got off his spot, extra hitch made it from on time to a pick. Throwing a ball off balance or not set is a skillset that Goff is ok at, but dude drops a hard but catchable ball. Purdy tossed shoe lace ball on the run to Aiyuk, and he made the play to pick up a first down.

  • @CJStew06

    Hate to say it but most of these are on Jared. Doesn't mean he didn't play pretty well overall and have a lot of nice throws, but these were clutch plays that were missed, and they only lost by 3 points. The game was there to be had.

      They better be trying to find a way to either make the coverage better or the pass rush better. Awful collapse.
      Might even need to look for another HC who can call clever plays or at least take points when you can. Detroit is not winning with Campbell, they need a brainiac to push them the rest of the way.

    I think the Niners’ defense wore down Tuesday Lions. It was torque versus horsepower.

      A little Lady Luck had to do with it too. Purdy was big on crucial long downs by scrambling for first downs. But it is what it is. Should be a good matchup on Super Bowl Sunday.

      Another relevant factor that Kurt mentioned was the Lions were "running the same plays." Those plays worked extremely well in the first half. So do you keep going to what's not broken? The answer was yes. It's like in baseball when hitters are up for the 3rd time. Don't care how great your starter has been two times through the lineup, pro hitters are likely to have figured things out by then. Sometimes coaches just don't react in the best way. It's a fine line. But it's hard to fault someone who leaned on what was working. In fairness, it still was working pretty well in the second half. I think Lions had three drops in second half.

    Meh....that's a lot of hindsight-based micro-criticism of the offense, imo. The drops by J-Rey & the fumble were the legit difference-making mistakes on offense, but the rest is just football. These so-called missed chances are in every game. Given the respective rankings of both defenses, SF were more lucky than good - the toss up to Jennings & the Immaculate Face-Doink to Aiyuk are the most INT-worthy big plays you'll ever see, imo - & nobody would have questioned the DET offense's key role if they had won.
