Your new couch looks lovely! Cats scratch by their nature (I’m sure you know that!) If you get her a scratching post so she has an outlet that will help her stay off the couch.!

I LOVE the new couch. I really like where it ended up and how it defines the living area from the kitchen. I wouldn’t want my back to the lovely view you have from your windows. A piece of art on the white wall, that is easy to take down when you want to watch a movie, would complete the new look. Maybe something that has the colours of the chair incorporated to tie that together.
A round tray would be perfect for your project bits and pieces.
The Friends reference made me smile!

I would definitely put the couch against the wall and buy a retractable screen for the projector and put it on the ceiling on the window wall. This way you could place the chair next to the island and the passage to the deck would be free, you would be able to see the landscape from the window without any problems and the dining and passage area would be wider. With the sofa against the wall, you can also place the table for knitting.

I cried when I first got my new sofa! It just didn't look how I imagined it would, it felt far too big for the space, and like you - I'd been saving up for it for AGES. But two years on, and I absoutely love it now. I think sometimes it just takes me a little while to get used to change. (I'm only 5-6mins into your vid as I type - looking forward to seeing where you put it!) xx

If you don’t mind dealing with ugly for a few weeks, take some aluminum foil and tape it to your sofa where Luna is scratching. Cats dislike the sensation and stop scratching. You could cover the foil up with the throw blanket so it wouldn’t be visible. This also works if you find a car peeing/spraying in a spot; cover that area with aluminum foil and let them experience the unpleasantness of it. They stop shortly after. I actually got this tip from a cat “therapist” many years ago when we caught our cat peeing all over the place and didn’t know how to deal with it.
Also, what about putting the little table next to your chair, or behind your chair in the corner where your two large windows meet? That way it’s not in the way and a bit out of sight and not taking away from the visual openness?

The tin foil idea works a treat to stop cats doing their business in odd places. My uncle's cat used to poo behind his sofa and a roll of tin foil put a stop to that!

Perfect solution and it looks like 2 separate rooms with room to spare! Great job Bayley. Do you have Feliway products for Cats in New Zealand? They have calming products for cats that help them to stop scratching.

love the couch Bailey, you can get arm rest tables which is what I use to put my coffee on, and for the couch you can also buy cat scratch guards which are supposed to deter your cat from scratching. (I have never tried these so I don't know if they work or not.) Enjoy your new couch, love the colour.

I've been watching your channel since your old home so I always find it interesting to see the changes that you make and the development of your "home". We are still waiting for our apartment to be finished so bought a new lounge that can be rearranged into many different configurations. I like the arrangement and if it's comfy for you to watch TV than that's great.

❤ your new couch and yes, this spot looks great! You can buy clear sticky cat protectors online and also use lemon oil in water to spritz that area. Another way of hiding vegetables is to mix frozen broccoli rice in with the beef mince😊.

Happy new sofa day Bayley… cats will sleep anywhere & scratch wherever they please to mark territory… I’m pretty sure in time Luna will break this habit once the novelty as worn off & she realises it displeases you as she seems pretty tame in nature. Just a firm no & a distraction. I had the exact same problem with my cats and use throws to drape over the arms. My 3 cats don’t bother now as I have a scratching post nearby as well. Wish I could send photo to show you. Don’t worry it’s just a stage she has to adapt as well as it’s a new experience to her too x

Pivot, pivot, pivot!! I also had to think of that when you were moving the couch around! What a work out that was!
It looks wonderful there, separating the kitchen from the living area. I agree with the others that you might want to try the round table with the chair?
Do you still have the knitting basket your recovered from the thrift store? That might still fit next to the couch to put your project bags in?
We also ordered a new couch! Still have to wait a few weeks, but I’m so excited. We’ve had our couch for 12 years and there are now literally holes in it. 😂 The kids are 8 and 5 now, so I feel safe enough to buy a new one. Will have to make my youngest stop jumping around on it though, he still loves doing that.

I realise it's too late now, but for next time you upgrade furniture you can get the Sallies Army and some other charities to - pick up your old sofa for free. 100% agree with where you ended up putting it, I would want to appreciate the view and the deck. I used to have a very similar sofa with the same kind of setup with the lamp and it was my favourite spot to knt with my legs out straight.

  • @countrymousesfarmhouse497
    @countrymousesfarmhouse497 5 месяцев назад

It looks great . I like it in the last position too. I would try the little round table just behind the couch near the wall with the frame. Your project bag and other bits look nice on it and you could maybe reach back and grab your knitting while sitting on that part. Our current couch is too big really for our room but we needed to fit everyone on it . Great job and that was definitely a full workout moving that around. It's funny but as an aussie we call it a lounge mostly and some call it a couch or sofa. We can't decide on just one. Haha . Thank you for sharing lovely
