Thanks so much! Worked on the first try after following your steps. Hopefully, the problem won’t return. In my case, CarPlay performance had been deteriorating over the past week or so. The problem started as a failure of the Next Track button on the steering wheel and the head unit. Then, I was intermittently getting tunes coming through the phone instead of the car speakers. Yesterday, this became a 100% failure rate, and it was difficult to figure out a consistent workaround. So frustrating! After watching your video, I think it’s possible that Vocal Shortcuts was my issue, because I created a shortcut for the flashlight coincidentally about the time of the iOS 18.0.1 update. Deleted and turned off!
Hi! I had this same exact problem with CarPlay after 18.0 iOS update…my music was coming thru the phone instead of my car speakers…it was unbelievably frustrating and had been happening for almost two weeks now. I had created a random vocal shortcut just to try it out, and then completely forgotten about it and never used it again. So I just deleted the vocal shortcut and turned that function off…now my CarPlay connects properly again! What a relief. 🎉🎉🎉
You just had everyone reset every access point that they had access to and now they have to remember every single one of their passwords again… Freaking idiot

Very first thing you should mention is that IF you have a VPN, disable it. This immediately worked for me

I can connect with blue tooth but not apple car play now smh
I fixed mine by deleting car from carplay list in Settings/General/Carplay, then reapplying it to list
