Man Jack I’m so glad you did a reaction to them! They are Gospel royalty and a lot of R&B singers got their style from them. A LOT! I can’t wait to see you do more of them. 🩷🩷🩷 And yes they are all sisters. There’s Karen who went first, then Twinkie who’s after her. Twinkie is the one who wrote mostly all of their songs and she can also play piano. Dorinda was after Twinkie, and Jacky is the one at the end. She’s the oldest. They also have another sister who no longer sings with them named Denise (Niecy). So it’s 5 of them total. Their mother was also a great singer Mattie Moss Clark but she’s no longer alive. I think you should watch the Clark sisters movie. It will probably explain everything a lot more.😂And Karen’s daughter plays her in the movie. Her name is Kierra Sheard and she’s also a well known gospel singer 🫶🏾 It’s a really good movie I think it’s currently on Hulu. It’s a lifetime movie.
The first singer is Karen Clark She is the baby of the sisters Many R&B singers credit her as an influence And her sisters call her the Michael Jackson of the group The second singer is Twinkie Clark she is responsible for the sound of The Clark Sisters and is The Queen of The B3 Hammond organ and has written over 300 songs The third singer is Dorinda Clark She is called The Rose of Gospel She is known for her scatting and jazzy style and high energy The one who didn't have a solo is Jacky Clark She's the oldest of the sisters She is known for her smooth style she does a lot of the dirty in the group and stays in the background in terms of harmony She is considered the matriarch of the family There is another sister named Denise who left the group to pursue her own interests Twinkie and Karen share the same birthday.
Yes, they are actual sisters. There are five of them but one of them (Denise Clark Bradford) Left the group in the 80's. They are the highest selling female gospel group.
The Clark Sisters are musical legends in gospel music industry and inspired a lot of non gospel music artists of today. They changed gospel and were known for taking a Stevie wonder beat and using it to get a different sound and it blew up so big. They have a movie on Lifetime about their life.
Thank you so much Jack for reacting to this song. The Clark Sistets are the cream of the crop of Gospel. Thank you Joiful0629 for requesting this. I'm so happy, sing Karen. These women can blow.
Karen has THE voice, but Twinkie will forever be that gworl to me. Her voice hits harder for me and there wouldn't even be a Clark Sisters if it wasn't for her sheer creativity and songwriting.
Jack, thanks for reacting to the phenomenal Clark Sisters -Karen Clark Sheard and her anointed sisters. Each sister has a special gift and it doesn't get any better. There were a couple of points where your eyes got wide and I thought you were about to throw your hands up and run around the room dancin'! Thank you Joiful0629!
Ive been associated and was a member of in Karen choir. At greater Emmanuel Detroit j moos was around was there also lol. Yeah these are sisters and very deap legacy of our community. Thank you sir ...
Nice! You’ve gotta check out “Balm in Gilead” by Karen Clark Sheard. She’s the sister who did the interview in this performance. More upbeat but equally incredible vocals
@@gagyrle1994 they sure did! And it was good but I wish they did the entire song! But I loved all 3 versions even the version they did live with denise and their mother!
I am so excited you reacted to the Clark sisters Jack. I always look so forward to you reactions. They are so real and down to earth. You probably already know this but they are sisters and have so many more amazing songs. You are amazing!!!
first jack i want to say i love your reactions! this song is my favorite gospel song and tears me up every single time. i want to see your reactions to their other songs now! & your reaction when the Dunkin’ ad came on had me screaming😂😂
Jack tysm for reacting to faith based music. I love Jesus and i love worship music. It is so inspirational and the clark sisters do an amazing job. So uplifting and spiritual. Its a breathe of fresh air to hear.
They are actual sisters and Karen Clark Sheard who sang first has a daughter who is also a famous gospel singer check her out Kierra KiKi Sheard I choose you. She's a beast like her momma!!!!
Oh man Jack! I have so many Clark Sisters videos for you! They've been AMAZING since the 70s. Their sister Twinkie (the second solo singer) is a musical GENIUS. Their mother Dr. Mattie Moss Clark is considered a pioneer in modern gospel music. They are Gospel music royalty
Ok ok ok, so I mentioned this song as well as a live version of Thank You Lord from Yolanda Adams a year or so back. I can not tell you my excitement to watch Jack's reaction to this untouchable masterpiece! Like I literally had to write a comment BEFORE watching it because I'm so excited lol
Aww; so beautiful seeing you react to these amazing Queens of Gospel music.. So anointed and vocally gifted🎶 Grew up to their music in our home and life👏👏💕💕💕
You have to watch her (Karen Clark Sheard) sing Balm in Gilead. From that same show. And her daughter Kierra Sheard Kelly is a gospel powerhouse as well.
Yep they’re all sisters. They can all sang especially Twinkie. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of them considering a lot of secular artists you’ve listened to (Mariah Carey for example) have named them as an influence.
I didn’t start listening to gospel until a few years ago and this is my favorite song❤️Great choice!! Faith Evans is compared to Karen (the first one who sings).
Karen Clark Sheard is the greatest singer of all time ‼️🙌🏾👑 also side note: he got an ad in the middle of the video and as soon as his ad ended I got in ad in the middle of his video 😂
Yes they are actual sisters. They are apart of gospel music history with their mother Dr Mattie Moss Clark. She was the minister of music at the C.O.G.I.C church in Detroit. She trained her daughters to sing in harmonies and blend where it sounds like one voice. Twinkie was the songwriter, and producer of the group. She can sing but she is also amazing organ player and pianist. This is from the live edition from Finally Karen album. I'm happy you enjoyed this and reacted to them.
Yes they are really sisters and they were trained by their mother, Dr Mattie Moss Clark. They have a lifetime movie about their life which was executive produced by Mary J Blige. Faith Evans credits Karen Clark as being a major influence on her.
J Moss is their cousin...when he sings auto tune comes to mind but there is no auto tune. Praise on the inside, We must praise, Good and Bad and he sang with the Clark Sisters, and Kierra Sheard ( daighter of Karen) I wanna Thank you by Maze and Frankie Beverly
Every single singer that does runs and riffs in their songs got it from the Clark Sister. They were the 1st to do what they do and stars from Yeba to Whitney to Christina Aguilera all were inspired by them
I love that you checked out the Clark’s. Yes they are all sisters. This was on Karen Clark Shears album. And I ran that one from start to finish forever. Her daughter sounds to me like a blend of all of ‘em, but heavily influenced by her momma Kierra Shears Kelly.
YES!!! The Clark Sisters are the mountaintop in Gospel and Karen Clark Sheard is THE GOAT soprano! She has influenced so many singers in the gospel and secular world its ridiculous... Mary J, Faith Evans and Mariah have expressly credited her to name a few. I recommend a Praying Spirit or Holy thou art Holy from THIS same concert.
Yes they really are sisters. The background color is Donald Lawrence Singers.(The guy in the Green suit at the end) I'm pretty sure he composed a lot of the music to this song(along with Twinkie Clark)You should check out some of his songs. He's a beast in his own right.
Yes, they are blood sisters...They are GOSPEL ROYALTY!!!!..Many R&B singers have confessed that the clark sisters were their private mentors and they are HUGE fans!!!
They are indeed sisters. They started in church put together by their Mother Maddie Moss Clark who was the minor music at their church. Her choir sang like angels and was second to none in the Black church community. Their first song of theirs that I heard on the radio was you brought the sunshine. My Mom had their record on 8 track and I always wanted to listen to them. They received a lot of backlash and criticism from the Black church for producing this style of gospel music. Yet their voices and talent could not be denied. I remember as a child growing up in Compton California listening to them and thinking if Jesus could make these women so talented and blessed he could probably do that for me too. And HE indeed has done that in my life. I am blessed immensely by their musical gifts but mostly by JESUS! Thanks for playing this song. It’s one of my favorites by them. They have a nephew who sings gospel too his name is Jay Moss and Karen’s daughter Kierra is a wonderful singer in the gospel genre as well. Check them out if you can Peaceful

So fun fact they originally recorded this song in 1986.
Karen did 3 of their songs for her solo album.
They recorded it for again a 3rd time a couple years ago. Sounds just as good as the other 2 versions.
@@gagyrle1994 they sure did! And it was good but I wish they did the entire song! But I loved all 3 versions even the version they did live with denise and their mother!

I second Balm in Gilead! I got a chance to see Karen at an outdoor concert and she tore that song up!
Yep they’re all sisters. They can all sang especially Twinkie. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of them considering a lot of secular artists you’ve listened to (Mariah Carey for example) have named them as an influence.
