In 2016 the revelation there is no self was recognized. Before the revelation, there had been intense seeking and listening to many spiritual teachers that made it sound like they held a secret I could not grasp. At least, that was the interpretation here. When the revelation happened it was a shock along with deep relief and the falling apart of the 'me construct'. Tony Parsons was the first speaker with whom there was resonance in the way he described it, the de-contraction of energy in the body along with the revelation the separate me had never existed. Deep gratitude.

Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The idea of Liberation is a dropping away, it is a Loss of the illusion of separation, the dream of separation. So when liberation or enlightenment "happens" it happens not for an individual sense of separateness but it is a dropping away of the separate self sense or illusory "me". To the extent that the "me" drops away or dissolves is the extent of liberation. Liberation or enlightenment is not the gain of something it is the loss of the illusion of a sense of separation, illusory because it was never really there other than as an appearance or dream. One technique that these teachers will not promote but seems useful is to refer to "me" and "I" far less, get used to that non-position till it becomes second nature. For example has the bodymind that apparently is typing these words referred to it's self once as a conventional i or me other than to refer to "i" or "me" as an illusory separative self sense? There was no one given credit in the conventional sense/language here. So even though there still seems to be an "i" operating it is not being glorified by a constant practice/reinforcement of saying i and me. So as much as possible speak of the bodymind as the third person or as little as possible. Basically model the non-dual teachers language and perhaps it will turn from a mere exercise into an actual dissolving/discrediting of i or me. Once again though the you, i or me cannot be enlightened, yet enlightenment can "happen" as the you, i and me drops away.

      Excellent comment!!
Reminded me of Swami Savapriyananda with the Advaita Vedanta teachings. Look him up on yt sometime. I just found him a few months ago.
Two years ago, and on two separate occasions, I had an out of body experience - while simply walking in my home. The second experience was the more significant one - I was 'being aware of being aware' of the 'body' below....This is why this teaching has been so significant to me.
(Deepak Chopra and Swami Savapriyananda interview from 3 years ago - was amazing and excellent questions asked to Swamiji.)

This message is very old, but teachers in the past always resorted to teasing people along the path. It happened spontaneously to Ramana Maharshi but he resorted to Taylor Greene his words to meet the “level” of particular followers. Jim just puts it out there without any crutches or practices prescribed.

Jim is saying at 0:40 that there is something recognising that the person is not real...not from the brain...not from the body but it is recognised somehow by something. The most important question would be now: By what is it recognised??? My understanding is that it is recognised by "this" itself. Would love to ask Rupert Spira this question.

it would really help to understand something about language itself, and how it functions. It's the same reason that NDEers cannot "explain" what happened. Language itself is not designed for this. Therefore, It can't be communicated. It might help (maybe) if Jim said "no thing" rather than nothing. The nearest explanation I've come across is Advaita's Sat, or existence itself. Sat, Chit, Ananda. Existence (itself), Consciousness (itself) Bliss (itself, not being blissful, or a blissful experience).

According to Avatar Meher Baba , We are all God now and forevermore but the goal is to realize this eternal Truth. Intellectual conviction is the beginning and Jim states it most eloquently. But ultimately the Mind must vanish. Furthermore, It's a game of hide and seek that God is playing with Himself. The following are 2 brief passages that explains it so eloquently, so Masterfully:
    The Lover and The Beloved
“God is love. And love must love.
And to love there must be a Beloved.
But since God is Existence infinite and eternal
there is no one for Him to love but Himself.
And in order to love Himself, He must imagine Himself
as the Beloved whom He as the lover imagines He loves.
    Beloved and lover implies separation.
    And separation creates longing;
    and longing causes search.
And the wider and more intense the search,
    the greater the separation
and the more terrible the longing.
When longing is at its most intense point,
    separation is complete,
    and the purpose of separation,
which was that love might experience itself
as lover and Beloved, is fulfilled; and union follows.
And when union is attained, the lover knows that
he himself was all along the Beloved, whom he loved
    and desired union with;
and that all the impossible situations that he overcame
were obstacles which he himself had placed in the path
    to himself.
To attain union is so impossibly difficult
because it is impossible to become
    what you already are!
Union is nothing other than knowledge
of oneself as the Only One”
    ~
“Mind wants to know that which is beyond mind. To know that
which is beyond mind, mind must go-vanish, leaving no vestige
of itself behind. The humour of it is, the mind, which is finite,
wants to retain itself and yet know Truth, which is infinite. This is
the position of those who seek Truth through intellect. Few grasp
this fact, and so most grope and grapple in vain.
    -Meher Baba
    -

It seems like it makes more sense to perceive that there 'is' a relative self but no absolute self... The relative self is a function and emergence of relating which is inherent in all life and just what is but it is ultimately empty. But if you maintain no one is here it throws relating into a chaos hence the 'inter-view' has no motive and since theres no one there why even do it at all? Relating and difference, story and tension is what makes life creative...its doubtful a non dual civilization would even get off the ground...We may be happier but entirely unmotivated?

@@simmisharma5169 So that is your personal feeling. You don't resonate with what is being said or let's say with the speaker. Projecting ulterior motives is beyond the purview of what you could know. And to be clear: there is no claim of being "spiritually awakend" or being personally enlightened. The message (Radical Non-Duality) actually makes clear, there is no personal enlightenment because there is no person. When Jim speaks of "the separate sense of self" as the only totally unreal part of 'The Appearance', that separate sense of self is the ego, right? I-sense? I-thought?

Some people are not mentally equipped to embrace mind bending experiences. The reality of life submits itself to the principle of duality. And the nature of the human being allows itself to be immersed into meaning and non-meaning making activities.

interacting with a non-dual teacher "seems" to apparently help with the dissolving, though the message here is that there is no real causation for anything

Jim DIED....that's the whole and entire point of nonduality.... not two...just one....once Jim dies or is dead there is only one thing/essence/being left to live happy and free WITHOUT a 'separate me' to spoil life. I "died" this morning while out walking and suddenly, there was/is total freedom and happiness - for no one. This may not last but it's a beginning of the end of an unwanted 'me'!

If Reality is unknowable by the finite mind then Jim can’t really assert anything not even ‘it is as it is’. Also, you can’t say there’s no cause or there is a cause...it’s just unknowable, a mystery. He certainly can’t say this is a powerful message and that it somehow has an impact on some who hear it...that suggest causation. To qualify statements by saying ‘apparently’ is also inconsistent with the notion that it’s unknowable unless you allow for nothing to be happening at all and if that’s the case you’re not left with much to say.

I only started watching this stuff 'cos I find myself in some nut job of a small flat on a railway line with no tv right now. I miss my glamour channels that Im used to watching 24/ 7 miss 'em like mad and the sound of the fucking trains is driving me crazy. Still I feel like I may be getting enlightened here.. whatever that means...but is this the price I have to pay? 🙄You mean there are no trains....? Fucking hell, try sitting here and saying that...what a constant fucking cocophony!!!!!!Thanks for posting this, it can never make up for my tv, but it helps put the trains into some kind of perspective and its good to know I never left this comment 🤤😎🤣✌

'No-Ones' on first base, second base or third base, even the stadiums an illusion. However, what a privilege it is to be one of the players LOL 😄
It would appear that from this perspective, that Love is the only reason for its Existence 🙏.

i guess the reality of life is that all submit to the principle of duality. Is and Isn't. And the being in us allows itself to immersed itself to both state and stateless, meaning and non-meaningful life. This contrast of existence is the essence i guess of movement in everything. potential and kinetic.. give and take... yin and yang...and the impersonal being gets to play with both experience... if it gives attention to both. But by default... we don't. Therefore we do not exist. Just my 10 cents. :)

'Nothing works...' Think about that- Did Alan miss the double meaning there??? :) My question; what creates desire? 'I' can accept and appreciate 'this', but 'I' want to 'be' 'there'... Then there are things my 'I' wants to achieve. *So if I make business calls, or produce some music, paint a picture, or play with my dogs- holy ISNESS, they're all the same IS at the moment of IS and there is no 'doing', because nothing is being 'done'!!! 'Do without doing and all gets done.' ...I remember that quote. You two just got me back into alignment (and frankly, just saved my butt (apparently)). I really wanted to blur the line between work and play, but becareful of what you wish for- you may get there, like I have, and find it very confusing (until today!). Much love, *Andrew.

Im missing the point -please help -people who understand this.
This sounds like a big word game. When Jim passes through TSA does he say “there’s no one here to go through x rays”.... Does he use money? Or does he not because “there is no one to need money?”
I bet with the agent at the airlines he speaks like everyone else. “Yes Mam, I’ll take seat 23” Not “no one is here, there are no seats or plane-it’s a dream”
Does he pay rent? If no one is there somehow he crosses the ocean to talk
    To no one?

The appearance of a Jim Newman happening in the apparent vicinity of what might be appearing as an Alan Steinfeld could be perceived as an apparition of initially irritating, later adorable apparent "two" not-things not-thinging. This not-one perceiving the apparent not-twos over the illusion of separateness makes "me" feel like a me, desperate to solve the problem of being apart-from, in that this one is thereby incapable of pinching their apparently adorable rascal difficult self-denying cheeks.
