.... you just got to love the sound of those GM's - the most efficient way of turning fuel into sound lol!! Had a Tug with a 6/71 on a twin disc 509, what a fantastic reliable combination, happy memories.

If they meet at the same power, that's slack tide. This is a flood tide rising faster than that little narrows can let into the Inlet. It causes rapids trying to equalize the height of the tide into the large basin going through a small opening.
@Hownotto523 There's a high slack and a low slack. When reading your chart, you should take note that the numbers shown are the lowest tide. In this particular instance, I wasn't looking at the sounder because I've been through here hundreds of times, and I know the path. There's plenty of water depth for a large vessel.
@@davemexico260 your right on, we have been thru there lots in a 15 ton deep keel sailboat, just wait for slack and idle thru a 5 knots, easy , fuel burn about one cup
Nice to see you posting again, thanks.
Inlet raider, back in the day. Good times. Hydro plant

The Pacific Spray has that exact set up X 2. We have a set of replacement Cummins that will go in sometime in the near future.
@@Teakspiller those 6-71s are worth some cash, there is a demand for running detroit diesels.
@@jaquigreenlees they'll be running. Place your bids.

Used to 'ice-up' Pacific Spray 2003-ish at now defunct North Sea Fisheries in Tofino, a quick 3-4am gig
We were just in this area of the sunshine coast fishing

6.5 knots per hour. GPH is 10 for twin 6-71's. You can figure out the rest.
If I am reading/ watching this correctly, is this where the flood tide meets the ebb kind of thing?

How deep is that at slack tide?
