I NEVER thought Roy Clark was "showing off". Roy could do things with any type of guitar l never saw done before. He just enjoyed playing music. Just like Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed & Chet Atkins. These men would pick together & you could see the love they had for the music & each other. No egos involved. Also add Buck Trent & there are so many others. Because these artist are in Country Music, they get over looked. You can tell when someone is showing off to impress you. These guys didn't care about showing off. It was about the music & having fun together. I'm sorry, if l took your comments the wrong way. But, I grew up watching these guys & they are special to us Country fans.
This is the Acid test that shows a guitarists worth. No electric enhancer gizmos to hide behind no backing band to catch you in their safety net if you fall. Just you a wooden box with 6 strings and an audience to entertain. And Roy blows the roof off
At the 4 minute mark, Randall and Klugman really cease to be actors and are just enthralled at what they're seeing. I have to believe that Randall sliding down into the chair at the end was a real reaction.
Roy is a classic! Another fun guitarist is Jorma Kaukonen from Jefferson Airplane. His song Embryonic Journey started out as a warmup piece but has become a classic that he still performs. Another, Water Song, is a beautiful acoustic piece he recorded with his group Hot Tuna. Terje Rypdal is a Norwegian Jazz guitarist/classical composer with a singular style you may be interested in. If Mountains Could Sing is an interesting song of his which is, in fact, probably what a mountain does sound like when it sings. I am new to your page but I am enjoying what you are doing and focusing on.
My pop told me about his guitar ability, so I searched. I see you have videos of yourself in your library. I plan to watch those. I subscribed and hit the like. THX 🙏
Alice Cooper was friends with Glen Campbell and he actually arranged for some rock guitarists to take lessons from Glen. The man was a virtuoso and they were blown away by how much he knew
Tony Randall’s reaction was definitely not scripted. A rock guitarist who’s very good at classical/flamenco is Rik Emmett from Triumph. Embrujo, Fantasy Serenade, Petite Etude, and my favorite, the “El Duende Agonizante” movement of their song “The City.”
I have seen charo doing this song. Of course it didnt sound like this version of this song. You could checknit out if you like. I never knew how good she was on the guitar.
As great as Roy is here (and everywhere else) his talent on the banjo is just as jaw dropping. He could play anything and everything. I think it was Eddie Van Halen who was asked how it felt being the greatest guitar player... His answer you need to ask Roy Clark. As great as Eddie was he's still humble. That is what says so much about a person that he would pay that respect to someone other than himself. Sadly that is missing in so much of today's hoorah for me the hell with you insanity we have to live with.

nice santa cruz hoodie!!!! 🤙🤙🤙
great reaction! a priveledge to see a reaction to this from a classical person: D
The man could play guitar, banjo, fiddle all with equal skill. A fantastic musician who is sorely missed. RIP Sir.

I think that's a case of English as a Second Language scenario, the proper wording isn't show off, but showmanship, it's not ego. It's stage presence.
No, he's showing off a little bit. 😂
A true master, and legend.
This performance is so fascinating to see Jack Klugman and Tony Randall completely spellbound by Roy.
Agreed you see two actors just being fans
They stopped being characters and became a part of the audience
It's such a beautiful song and he absolutely crushes this performance. Fantastic.

That right hand is unreal!
Yep. Without the proper right hand movement and picking you're not going anywhere.
Roy's hand speed was off the charts. His hands may have been faster than any guitarist ever.
He,s the only guitarist I've ever seen who,s on the same level as Django,s right hand technique
Playing Flamenco on steel strings and still sounds beautiful!
It’s not often you can be blown away by strumming technique…but this one shows you can be
At the 4 minute mark, Randall and Klugman really cease to be actors and are just enthralled at what they're seeing. I have to believe that Randall sliding down into the chair at the end was a real reaction.
It was. Neither Randall nor Klugman had any idea what Roy was going to play. The director wanted to capture their genuine reactions.
I turned this on right after practicing my ukulele. Half way through I looked over and, I swear, it shrugged at me.

Every time that I watch this I half expect to see smoke coming from the guitar when Roy finishes.
At the very least it needed a cigarette and a stiff drink afterwards.
Roy Clarke is the all time greatest guitarist.
Wow! You found it and did it. Woo-Hoo!!!
Roy can play anything that has strings. Acoustic, electric guitar and fiddle. He has many RUclips videos check him out.
Pretty sure he could play a tennis racket.
Roy Clark such a fantastic guitar player.
My pop told me about his guitar ability, so I searched. I see you have videos of yourself in your library. I plan to watch those. I subscribed and hit the like. THX 🙏
Your are right in it not just how fast you play it but it's also the presentation!!!
Such a beautiful song and equally difficult to play. I will have to listen to more of Malaguena and different performers.
Another great country guitarist is Glen Campbell. Check him out playing “The William Tell Overture.”
You won’t be disappointed
Alice Cooper was friends with Glen Campbell and he actually arranged for some rock guitarists to take lessons from Glen. The man was a virtuoso and they were blown away by how much he knew
The man was a wizard, Nothing more to say.
If my right hand could do that I’d never leave the house
Tony Randall’s reaction was definitely not scripted.

The Right Hand Ov GOD!!...
Thanks.
He is the best!
And he played that classical piece on steel strings with a pick.
Roy Clark is NOT a show off!
he is known as a comedian and country singer
Wish they could have filmed Roy with a high speed camera so we could see his picking
he turned that box of wood into an orchestra.
Mr Clark could play guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle/violin and pretty much anything with strings on it
Love you Jose
If you havent already, you should check out Junior Brown Surfer melody
I have seen charo doing this song. Of course it didnt sound like this version of this song. You could checknit out if you like. I never knew how good she was on the guitar.
I long time ago year after year in Playboy Magazine’s ranking of musicians Charo was always on the list as the best guitar player in her style.
Olay !!!!!!
I sincerely hope you have heard of Rodrigo Y Gabriella.
Of course knowing chords is very important, but the right hand movement is the key. Without that you're not going anywhere.
Sure can play can't he?!?!?!?!?!!!!
He played it left handed as well as right handed.
He was mainly a known as a country artist. RUclips has brought out a more talented par of him.
My I suggest vento borrascoso by tourniquet
first
Tony Rice. That’s all
I hate when people applaud during song. Screws it up.
I find it 'interesting' that you say nothing about the coordination between the right and left hand.
I always thought Roy played it too fast
Did you say Roy Clark is a show off?
Not exactly as Lecuona wrote it, though!
Showing off. I think not
You are definitely jealous
Roy is a showoff?!!!!!!! 😡

Sorry you sound a little jelly.
Roy Clark a showoff? You obviously don't know what you are talking about.
I doubt you could hold a candle to being near as good as Roy.
Almost sounded fingerpicked using raseudo technique
Instead of talking over his guitar why don't you just pause it and talk... Just a friendly suggestion..
