This is a neat perspective, but perhaps you should check out Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright to see how far Level-5 can take the franchise with the help of Capcom.

I only played the first game and loved it. Specially the accents. Never finished it though. Thank you for the review RMC. Will definitely buy it first day.

You should at least play Diabolical Box, it's the best in the series, and you can find it dirt cheap.

where are you getting your information that people were sick of layton games? they consistently did great numbers everywhere, got manga and anime adaptations, localizations too because of the ongoing popularity outside japan. don't take your own personal feelings and slap them onto everybody else. numbers and facts don't lie.

I seem to remember it was either Miracle Mask or Azran's Legacy that changed the screen hunting so you could just drag the magnifying class around until it would highlight over a hint coin or other thing.
While I do have Layton's Mystery Journey already for my 3DS (haven't started it yet), I'll probably pick this one up in the future.

As far as Level-5 goes, I feel like they've been spread really thin. They seem like a super small team taking on 20 franchises. They seemed to be going in the right direction when they made Yo-Kai Watch 4 have elements of Fantasy Life and Snack World, and some of their other games, but they're still taking forever to localize it, and now they're trying to go multiplat, too. They really seem to be a mess. Level 5 really should just put their entire team on supporting YW4++ for Nintendo Switch, until it's out worldwide, bug-free, content complete, all the DLC done, and as worthwhile a game as it can be. Then start on a Fantasy Life sequel (or YW5 with more Fantasy Life elements incorporated) as a Nintendo Switch exclusive with the same goals. Out worldwide, focus 100% on it, and give the Layton series a decade-long break or so. Wait for people to start making memes about being in a desert trying to find that "new Layton game oasis" before even putting the franchise back on the table. Yo-Kai Watch is the closest anyone has ever gotten to toppling Pokemon, and Pokemon could really use a toppling right now, Level-5 should be using their relationship with Nintendo to develop Yo-Kai Watch into a worthy rival to the Pokemon series and light a fire under both teams to really impress with their Switch titles.

They killed it with the Ni No Kuni series.
Some of my favorites games of all time.

Who the fuck got tired of Professor Layton and where can I find them? Lol, I loved every one of these games, even Miracle Mask.
