I feel like in a game as rng based as skyblock rollbacks are hard, since for any new player a rng drop is worth so muhc mor ethen a stable economy that you basically cut out a ton of new players for keeping the game stable
If you think more in depth, the guy who just got the RNG drop (let's say a handle, very original I know) see that his RNG Drop dropped from 700 freakin' millions to 50m, knowing that just getting the drop itself costs 35M.
Now, let's go even deeper !
The guy just saw that his handle dropped in price, but he had money kept in his bank for maybe his GDrag or T7 his Necron's Blade. He can now "flip" the 50m handles destroying not only the economy, but also the guy who did some flipping with a sudden drop in price. The admins are just the worst staff team I have ever seen. Oh you flipped an item and you didn't even know it was duped ?? Then let's wipe you, and on top of that, a ban of 90 days on the WHOLE Hypixel network.
But if they added a simple rollback. Like Refraction said, Timmy who just got a giant sword would be sad cuz' he won't do 200k damage instead of 150K outside dungeons, but all the other rich and endgame players with freakin' billions in purse, who were almost like pioneers in the Economy related to the new nether update (mainly on the Inferno Minions, but still.) who, in a long-term, make the economy more and more viable to more and more people, would still be here, continuing to fuel slowly the Economy with LEGIT drops.
The rollback is necessary, especially since most of the people we know were wiped were rich and endgame, contributing a lot in the economy related to inferno minions.

@@Gayzmog i agree with everything but the first point what cal was talking about was inflation. Not the fact that handles themselves get duped but the fact that 1b coins now is worth ALOT less than it was say 2 years ago today because of dupes rapidly adding coins to the economy.
@@Gayzmog This time it wasn’t because they took the opportunity they saw in gemstones. It was because they knew a dupe was coming and had put multiple orders at incredibly low prices. Normally this wouldn’t happen and someone who buys a duped handle won’t get banned.

Rollbacks for casual players would be really tough. For someone like myself, who only plays maybe five or six hours a week, if I lost even a couple days of progress it would be so demoralizing. I'd have to spend two days of my real life free time doing stuff I've already done.
They would rollback only since right before the dupe started. So ppl who play less would not even loose much
I really hope gemstone prices manage to go back to normal eventually. I do notice there's a slight increase in the price day by day, but it's still far from what they used to be.
Until now I used to mine and forge perfect topaz, selling it at 12.5m-14m during spikes that happened every 7-10 days, but now I'm just sitting with 45 perfects (mostly mined during fiestas, a few are forged from bought flawless for flipping), refusing to sell them at under 7m. Was supposed to buy a term with them but... rip. At least I didn't get randomly wiped for having a large sell offer of perfect topaz lol.

The main problem with rollbacks and why i think they will never be implemented is this:
Imagine you have been casually playing skyblock for the past year and have finally dropped your first handle, with them being 1bil at the moment you put it on the auction house and go to bed dreaming about what you would spend all that money on, just to wake up and find out that it had been rollbacked.
It would lose a lot more people than it would help, from people who have dropped other RNG's especially those on ironman.
They could fix this however buy having a temporary cache file with every RNG drop and who dropped it in the last couple days saved to it, and then when the server gets rollbacked to stop a dupe they could then re-distribute every RNG drop to all the people that would have lost one.
Idk if thats possible but it sounds kinda perfect esoecially for iron man players cause theire cut off from the econemy anyways it would be really unfair to roll them back

@@mcplayer6456 another thing about ironman is that if you get roll back on an rng then you lost it for basically nothing because on ironman you dont care about the economy because you cant affect it and it cant affect you unless like nw and its not too terrible to lose nw because its kinda "cosmetic" and doesnt actually effect your progress in the game.

I feel like as Cal said aswell that the punishments for the people that profited off of the dupe should've been like a 30 day ban and a rollback. Maybe they can't roll back the entire server without creating issues but they probably can roll back a few players from the latest backup which they probably do weekly or monthly. I think a lot of people would be way happier with a month rollback than a complete wipe.

My whole issue with the wipes is that the admins are holding every single player to a higher standard than themselves. They expect everyone to instantly know what is a dupe and what is someone fat-fingering sell orders or some other unrelated market crash.
IF IT IS THAT EASY to tell when something is duped or not, why did the admins need 36 HOURS before locking down bz and ah? Why did the bazaar not automatically detect it was a dupe? Also, trading on the bazaar is not against the skyblock rules.
IMO, the fair thing they should’ve done here is either do a full rollback as you suggested, or to revert the profits people made from the dupe. In the end, it’s the admins' fault for having the dupe, not patching it faster, not locking bz/ah faster, and for not detecting it in the bazaar system.

@@tr1x_js413 but if youre ironman you dont care about the economy unless like nw and losing an item that you may only get once in your profile and know there is no other way to grind for it unlike the normal profile where you can lets say gemstone grind for 50 hours for a hyperion(assuming you get 15 mil and hour and a hyperion costs 750 mil(idk how much a hyperion costs this days)) on an ironman you cant do that and to do 1k run which is ig average for a handle with 3 scrolls with kismets it will take you about 200 hours(if every run takes about 12 minutes not including time between runs) so no roll backs are bad but if you think well grind for 200 hours you will eventually get it then here is an another example: if you get a legendary phoenix that a pet that you get only once and you cant really grind for it to say the approximate hours it would take you and you may never get it in a 2 or more years profile so if you get roll back on a legendary phoenix you can say that you will never get it ever again.
Imo, ironman profiles should be exempt from all the duping situations, since even if you did dupe stuff, it doesn’t affect anyone

Man I'm so tired of the "They should just do a rollback" rhetoric that's always thrown around, people don't realize that would require them to keep multiple saves not only of the current players inventories/auction house/bazaar states, but also multiple copies of every players islands. And no one seems to take into account how much that would cost them.

To prevent the harsh loss of deserved items that people grinded for due to rollbacks, they should add the loot save system where it saves what item you dropped and you can buy it later on if you couldn't get it then. This shouldn't be affected by the rollbacks thi
What about setting back hundreds of thousands of players progress? Duping is so common the rolling back would destroy the server

giving my honest opinion about rolling it back, yes it may be better, but some players might have gotten a new set of armor in like an hour, and it could be rolled back idk, like 3 days, but that point, it'd be easier to quit then to try and grind again, that's a lot of progress to newer players. this is the same thing with some games on roblox, they can get rolled back, but to some people, a lot of progress is lost. instead of it helping a lot of people, it'd ruin the motivation and hype towards skyblock, so it's either the economy being wack due to dupes and/or money making glitches, or it being so demoralizing to play and unmotivating to play that there won't be any new players, and current players may also leave, as someone who co-owns and SMP and having to roll it back cus of some griefers, it isn't exactly pleasant seeing all the progress be gone on fixing up the spawn, or the community area of the server.
Cal, you can fix the economy. Sell everything you own, buy so many perfect gemstones, and then void them.

A simple solution to the issue would be to give every item a tag that tells where it came from (this has been a thing in the past, but randomly got removed for some reason), and when you attempt to put something on the Bazaar or AH, it checks to see if the source of the item is legit.
so if an item has been duped, they would both have the same tag. How would you tell whic one is real?

I do indeed think rollbacks should happen, however one major problem is Ironman players. If they drop an rng drop, and the server gets rolled back, innocent Ironman players will lose that drop.

@@Willimann wouldnt the admins be lazy to do that? i mean lets say more than 1k people may get some rng drops and the admins would need to give each and everyone the drop and they also would have to check somehow if the screenshot is fake or not because faking a screenshot can take like 10 minutes at most(if you already know how to do it and there was a video i think from theoriginalace who made a tutorial to how fake screenshots) so that idea is bad.

i think alot of the hardcore players dont realize how hard a rollback is on more casual players, when a hardcore player looses something that took them 30 hours to get they will just farm to get it again or have their youtube followers give them items, its more of a inconvienence when you play 8 hours a day and loose something worth 600M coins when you have a networth above 3B but when a huge portion of the player base that only plays 1-2 hours a day looses something worth half their networth or even more, the problem is that alot of people would quit skyblock, even if half of the midgame people just sucked it up and kept going which is pretty generous then hypixel would still loose alot of members that they just cant loose, it would have been better if they closed the bazaar sooner and cleared out all the duped items or atleast only rolled back the previous few days of the items that were duped instead of everything, overall i dont think hypixel would ever run a rollback on the server unless there was something major that affected every single player instead of the unlucky gemstone buyers and the very late game players

The total networth of the skyblock economy is roughly 187 trillion, losing 100 of the top players, although significant, isn't actually a completely massive amount of coins gone
No it is not that is just a blatant lie. The top 100 players probably hold like 10% of the games coins. So much is being spent on npc’s nowadays that money is just evaporating

You are correct, that this fails to account for inactive accounts, as well as api disabled and glitched/exotic into total nw, as this is calculated through the maro leaderboard via skyhelper. However not everyone from the top 100 nw was wiped, some big names were, such as 15h, yarns, and simpleorigin, but it's still not an extremely significant amount

its bigger than you think, this one kid will quit and his friends will probably have some thoughts of quitting after hearing about it. One more mistake and they could be the next to quit, and you must remember its not just 1 kid that will be losing his rare drop, but many. If hypixel cant find better solutons for next time, they wont be getting a second chance from some of their playerbase.

rollbacks can cause dupes, for example on some occasions ive seen im not really sure exactly if this is right or not but the player will put something in a chest, then it will get rolled back to the last save. They will log onto their island and there will be the item in the chest and in the inventory because his island doesnt get rolled back. Ngl ive done this before on accident with 1 stack of enchanted cobblestone at the start of my profile.

Quick Qustion:
Assuming SOS Flare gets added to the museum and more people than him have it, he still probably doesnt have the 1st created
since, the creation date the museum checks is based on the 1st tier of an item family (Warning Flare).
The item data is saved after u craft the 1st tier, thats why it keeps information like recombs, etc.
So if anyone has a Warning Flare, which is created before his, and crafts the SOS Flare in maybe 1 Year,
that SOS Flare will be 1st created
Note: This is not always accurate, since some item data may be bugged, and are lost after upgrading. But there is a strong
chance it works as described
i dont think it would work that way. Because lets say the person who made the first warning flare has not made an SOS flare out of it. Then would there just not be a first place in the museum? probably not. i would think it would go to the person who made the sos flare first and not the warning flare. However i am not really knowledgeable about these topics and you shouldnt rlly trust me. This is just my opinion.

I just tried to explain, that he technally never would have 1st SOS Flare (when multiple would be in museum), since he made his Warning Flare, right before he crafted the SOS Flare. And the chance that smb crafts an SOS Flare with earlier crafted Warning Flare is very high.
That this system works, and lots of items are based on this system i can approve very well. For example: I have a Axe of Shredded, from October 2019 in museum, (At that point it wasnt added to the game). So how can it exist ? I found a rev falchion from october 2019 in ah, and upgraded it all over to axe. And it always kept its original creation data. And that works with way more items, than just AOTS.

Ratfraction genius plan to fix the vertex problem. With ONLY 1 bil coins, you can buy 300 vertexs (assuming 30 mil per). You then void your 300 vertexs and the price goes back to somewhat reasonable. Sometimes you just gotta take one for the team you know.
