  • With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pharmaceutical industry shifted into hyperdrive to develop, test and manufacture vaccines and therapeutic products needed to meet the public health crisis. To achieve these ambitious timelines, technology transfers moved forward on highly compressed timelines to advance hundreds of products from development labs to clinical manufacturing and then out to a broad network of large-scale commercial production sites around the world.
The urgency of responding to the COVID-19 crisis highlights the importance of excellence in Technology Transfer Program Management.
The webinar will be presented as a facilitated scenario-based format, highlighting the unique challenges of Technology Transfer in the era of COVID-19 and inviting participants to serve in the role of a Technology Transfer Project Manager. The scenario will involve the transfer of a notional COVID-related product from clinical scale into a plant for large-scale production. As a group, we will plan a tech transfer, identifying best practices for each phase of the project. Participants are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences with the group.
This webinar was presented on December 20, 2020 by Charlie Maher, Global Director of Process and Manufacturing Technology at CA, and Eric Felz, Head of Facilities Engineering and Validation QMS at Takeda.
