  • Prune your tomato plant soon as their are over 10inch tall , find the suckers !
    Tomato 'suckers' will actually turn into stems that produce tomatoes. If you don't prune the 'suckers' from your indeterminate plants you will end up with dozens of stems that produce tomatoes. It is a problem. You will end up with too much growth that is difficult to manage..
    Your tomato plants will grow more leaves then tomatoes ..

    I just planted 15-20 tomato seeds I also have chilli seeds planted and parsley and few others im exited to see how I get on with these as my father has been teaching me alot about growing your own food he’s in his 70s now still going strong… we are beeing poisoned with fast foods abs chemicals so it’s essential we can grow our own stuff! Can u recommend or do a video on the easiest foods to grow for beginners?

    Thank you. I used to sucker tobacco for my grandpa. It was hard work, because the fields were so big. I think I like tomatoes better.

    What determines whether a new leaf is a sucker or a productive leaf?

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  7 месяцев назад

      So the soccer girls between the main stem and the leaf , It will start growing and look like a new branch if you leave it. It will produce tomatoes in the long term, but if you want faster growing production you could always prune it out

  • @cinderblock0692

    Is this for all kinda of tomatoes plants?

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  3 месяца назад

      So the Determinate varieties ( 3-4ft) still need pruning of it will be very bushy.. remove 1-2. Suckers only and some branches of the lowest has the plant grow big...
      indeterminate tomatoes which grow much bigger ( 10ft plus ) you have to prune like this )

    So my tomatoe plant is growing tomatoes from suckers? I trimmed the rest but why do I get tomatoes from what would be considered a sucker?

      That's definitely a tomato plant.
      Grow on buddy looking good.
      I've experimented with pruning them and I've found it's not for me I usually end up with a plant with one main stem and like zero foliage hahahaha.

      So true GreenT Garden. Brandywines look so different and grow different! They don't have the jagged leaves. I grew two and got only 2 tomatoes.
