Thanks for the good pickin..... Now we cant all sing like Jamey Johnson.....but y'all has the testicular fortitude to sing it for a most comprehensive lesson....
So we're all here for the same reason, and most of us are probably wondering how to play the fillers right? So let's team up to fill em in. I'll start (all my submissions have capo on 3rd fret. The filler starting at 1:17/"You can almost see my breath": 1p0, 1h3 on the b string 1:48/"Shouldve seen it in color": 15s13, pick 11 on the b string Little solo at 2:01 is all on the D and A string using the 9 (12 without capo), 7 (10), and 5 (8): 9 ---> 7 --- > 5 bend a little on 7 and then release to 5 hammer and bend a bit on 7 and release back to 5 on the D, bend again on 7, release to 5. Go up to 5 on the A, hammer onto 7A and I bounce between 7A and 5D to finish off, even though that last part isnt 100% accurate
...That song is a crowd- stopper....every time it would come on in the clubs, you could feel the hush..... and people loved it in karaoke.......A person who can play this has the audience wrapped around their finger.....
Not to take anything away from the writer/composer, but I feel as though this song is a gift from a higher power delivered through JJ. This lesson has made it so easily accessible and I am as equally moved by your sharing of it. THANK YOU!! I only hope that after I have learned it, I can deliver it in a manner that causes someone else to feel what you and JJ make me feel.
Great lesson, and thanks for being one of the few who sings along with their playing. It makes the song make a lot more sense. You got a new subscriber from this. Thanks man.
Excellent video! I figured this went out on my own a few years ago. But, all of Mr. Trujillo’s videos have been extremely helpful!!! Keep up the great work, sir! Appreciate you. 👍
For those of you who would like to go a little more in depth into this great song, this is a descending A# (or Bb) major scale. What's that mean? Well if we count the capo as fret 0 then you can follow these notes/frets I'll type out and be able to play a Lead or solo over it. (Notes with asterisks are the Root note of this song) __________________ 6 5 4 3 2 1 strings ------------ 0 0 0*0 0 0 frets 2 2 2 2 1 2 3*3 4 4 3 3* 5 5*5 5 5 5 ----------- And from there it repeats up the neck.
U truly are the greatest. Thank you so much for taking the time to share you’re love and talent with those of us that are fortunate enough to experience it.
You are welcome. I feel bad asking because I’m sure u have thousands of request but could u do ain’t much left of me by BlackBerry Smoke?? I’ve been trying to figure it out but just keep getting lost lol. Thank you
What a great job Robbie I've learned so much from you I really really appreciate what you're doing someday if I ever get to meet you I'd love to shake your hand but until then I'll keep watching thanks for putting out the great wonderful videos your friend Jeff
I love the song just need to slow the picking down a little I have watched it 50 times and still can see what you doing. Love the lesson though but hard to follow
unfortunately for beginners this style largely requires the player to just feel the song. Start by strumming instead of picking and really just feel the rhythm of the song. After many many hours of playing you will learn where different hammer ons will feel appropriate
I agree with Christopher. Sometimes for beginners or early players, when trying to learn songs like this it is usually better to learn to strum the song. Get extremely comfortable just strumming it. Then you can begin to add the hammer ons comfortably. If you really want to learn the intricacies of the picking style tab may be best. It may turn out to be the long road to the same destination though. I love this song and have performed it since about the time it came out. Love the lesson too, glad it highlighted the details instead of just strumming the chords for instruction. That being said for folks like lewis that are really trying to pick up on the finer details of the pick progression, you might try placing the camera at the neck and point it down towards your picking hand. So the pick, and the string being picked is plainly visible. I'm in no way trying to tell you how to do your thing sir. 🤣. Just a thought, I know when i was coming up and trying to learn more intricate leads and picking styles, being able to watch the pick as well as the fretting hand would have helped tremendously.
Just about to start learning this. Thank you so much for the lesson. What an amazing tune! You just gained a new subscriber and I even clicked the notification bell!
When you play the full intro yourself. You play completely different strings when you on the f chord for the intro. I wanna play how you playing the intro
Love this song and lesson. Great job. I’ve noticed that same chord progression at the beginning is similar to “joy of my life” by Chris Stapleton. Almost has the same feel to it as well. Have you done that lesson? If not I’d love to get your version of it. Otherwise good stuff. Love your videos.
I was trying to find a tutorial on Jamey Johnson's Lead Me Home from Farm Aid 2021 specifically the intro, I've tried to watch the video but unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what notes his hitting, I can play the song but that intro eludes me, is there anyway you could help out?
Great lessons here on your channel. Been able to learn some of my favorites. Any chance you can something from Whiskey Myers? Stone would be a good one

How long does it take you to learn any given country song?
It just depends on the song but most I can figure out the music pretty quickly. Learning how to sing it takes a littler longer.👍
Would you be able to do Mirror Mirror by Randall King please?
Can you break down like there's no tomorrow by Justin Moore? Awesome work
