How does an MRI scan work? - in Virtual Reality

- Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”
- Alexander Graham Bell
Knowing what to expect before an MRI scan can be an important part of a positive patient experience. Patients who are well prepared are likely to be calmer, which helps scans to run smoothly and lets your staff work more efficiently. Both patient and staff satisfaction play a role in your institution’s economic well being.
We have recognized the value of good preparation. Using virtual reality, we have created an experience that takes your patients on a journey - not just telling them but showing them what to expect. Together with Infor-Med, Maxima Medical Center Veldhoven and Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen, we’re bringing MRI to life and helping enhance the patient experience.

this video made me feel like i smoked pot or somethin

the video doesn't actually explain how MRI works
That's why it said how an MRI scan works,
Martin Stewart
HIGH FIVE! 👋👋
Martin Stewart I know I wanna know if the machine is totally closed during the exam because I don’t like closed places 😳😳and he didn’t say nothing of that 🤨
The protons in your water molecules are pulled by the magnets, then they switch of the magnets and fire in
high frequency waves which knock the molecules of cause slightly as they return to where they were before, causing them to emit waves which are picked up
by receptors , different tissues produce slightly different frequencies or something like that.
Very useful & informative video. Getting an MRI done on July 10th for my vision. Still a little anxious but this puts me more @ ease !!
this guy could narrate the apocalypse and I'd stay pretty chill
I had my yearly MRI on my head 2 days ago it actually wasn't that bad this time it only took 15 mins and they gave me music it also helps that Memphis has better ones that Little Rock does
mine took an hour and 30 minutes lol. but I got to choose a netflix series to watch while in there
Imagine having advanced peripheral vision like this
I think this video is mostly helping people out that has claustrophobia
Referring to the MR technologist as an "operator" is insulting. The person performing your MR exam will hopefully be a caring, attentive, observant, and highly qualified Technologist. This is not a carnival ride. This is a sophisticated and dangerous machine, controlled by sophisticated and capable people. The quality of the magnet is only half of the equation. The people under whose care you are at the moment, are the other half. As an imaging tech, there is a vast divide in the quality of technologists performing these exams. This can make all the difference. The difference between a ositve or a negative experience, the difference between a good or a bad day. Sorry to rant. I am a tech, and i take pride in my work.
u guys make both my 3 monitor set up and a mri machine 💀💀💀 yall built different
xD
Jesus the weird 360 take plus the guys voice made it seem like either a drug hallucination or an odd futuristic video game
Well-made and does prepare honestly for the procedure.

Did it so high that the “loud noises” sounded like music
People say the beeping is bad I think it’s nice
Tbh it wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t that good too
Philips Healthcare, nice video but the 360 metadata was not embedded properly and cannot be viewed as VR. Really wish you could take a look at that for us ;)
Hi Benjami, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will forward your feedback to the right department. Would you like to be contacted about this? If so, could you share your email address with us? :)

If only it was that with quick
You might wanna change the title of the video cause it absolutely gives no information about how an MRI scan works!
I plan to listen to krewella or bizzle or palace you got my heart. I'll just be thinking of new when I was once amazing.
It was too loude
I had one done on my wrist....I HATED IT!
It can be extremely noisy and you can easily become hot and sweaty, especially with the warm towels they sometimes place on your chest. I've had it several times and I'm actually pretty used to it now, but the experience itself is something that should be experienced. Not very pleasant but not many people get the opportunity to do so, you know? I've begun to kind of think about it like I'm inside a space capsule or something like that XD
So the be doesn’t quite work
And should say how long it takes
jessica steiger levine 15 to 20 minutes. Mine took longer bc I had to get one redone....
THANKS THIS WHAS REALLY HELPFULL
PS: THAT WASNT SARCSTIC
Hope you don't mind me asking but did you have yours yet & was it really like the vid explains ?? Just asking cause I'm getting an MRI for my vision on July 10th. Thanks
Nice
This is hypnotizing
How it works?
Hi there, glad to see your interest in our MRI machine. The way it works is explained in the short video above. Please check it out if you'd like to know more about it. :)
@@PhilipsHC For desenitization it would be very helpfull to have a prolonged exposure session in the MRI. Is that also available? The exposure time in this video is too short to habituate.
It took mine 2 hours and I got to watch a movie
New scanning Technology
as far as i know, there are no stents currently that are NOT MRI safe.
As far as I know, some stents have been tested only on 1.5T, and not on 3T
want test can I dorder if I have try 2 time now and whan I try dping it not the test but the pain whan lay down in my back carole wattam
I’m tripping
This is the most disorienting possible way to mimic an mri experience. Wow - awful.
No head coil orrrr half thee shit they said lmao
Lol

I was curious about the science behind it's functionality
But they just explained about procedure

Hey there Kalyan, could you elaborate on your comment? If there's anything we can help you with -- we're happy to help!
@@PhilipsHC if you could explain how exactly an MRI works, that would help. This video just shows the user experience
Thanks for your reply! If you click on this link: to.philips/6052EraT2, it will show you more info. :-) Let us know if anything's unclear or if you have any more questions!
@@PhilipsHC title can be changed to "User experience of MRI Scan with VR" or something similar.
Thanks for your feedback, Kalyan. We'll definitely take this into consideration. :-)
Forgot the part where they stab a massive f ing needle almost all the way through your shoulder to pump a non fda approved dye containing radioactive metal into the cartilage of your joint through a tube... 😂
H Peterson is this true
@@vr3v3rs34 For me at least. Mine was different because I had to get a contrast injection but not everyone has to do that. They usually only do it for complicated joints and stuff with very small parts that are hard to see.
