    Thanks for this. I bought a 2017 Explorer 2 years ago and this just came off. Looks like they messed it up when someone went to replace the windshield before I bought it, broke a bunch of the snaps and band-aided it back together with rubber goop so they didn't have to pay to replace it. I ordered the parts before I found this video, but the video helped me with the replacement process.

      I just bought a 2017 Explorer 2 weeks ago and the same thing happened. The piece actually broke and flew off on the highway. I got home and looked and the windshield must have been replaced because the glass company used windshield glue to glue this piece back down onto broken mounts. Glue failed!

    It looks like every time the windshield has to be replaced those trim pieces have to come off, I’ve never looked closely at the explorer so maybe I’m wrong, in my neck of the woods we go through windshields every year or two because of the rocks on the freeways so I hope someone continues making these trim pieces for a long time, thanks for the video sir 👍😁

    The first vehicle I ever bought was the Explorer. I liked mine so much I let my dad borrow it and other family members. They all ended up buying one. The husband of my cousin was a police officer. He was transferred to one of our mountain districts. They gave him a Chevy Pick-up. By that time I bought the Expedition he liked it so much he requested the Expedition. I really liked those vehicles. Those were all 2011- 2015. Love the info, It's the little things that seem to make the difference. That's why I really didn't enjoy Your videos Because you bring the light some of the little things or big things That get overlooked. The great thing about you and ray Are the fact that you both are willing to take the time to make a proper diagnosis instead of loading up the parts canon and throw everything at it...

    There is now a recall on these crappy pillar covers, but after my story below:
    My 2016 Explorer Platinum pillars started rattling 6 months after we bought it used in 2020. Driving us crazy. Ford dealer quoted
    Lh trim piece 144.00
    Lh mounding 150.76
    Rh Trim piece 136.65
    Rh mounding 151.33
    Labor for trim 320.00
    ===============
    $902.74 or >>>
    RockAuto self install $177.79
    Before I was about to order them a truck kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield. Took it to Auto Glass shop and told the guy about what Ford wanted to replace them. He laughed and said I buy them by the hundred pack for less than Rock auto. It was no cost to me when the windshield was replaced. He said it was one of the worse engineered pillar covers. Unrelated the driver side door pillar with the keypad just flew off doing 65 on highway severing the cables blowing a fuse. I could not open my tailgate until that was replaced.

Took off the new water pump and the fins were sheared off because the front cover wasn't designed properly and the water pump ground the fins off when the engine was started.

      I mean I would think that based on your profile picture you're some kind of Airline captain or something that you would be able to communicate a little bit more educated than this but okay I mean it's not like I'm showing you a concentration of problems where other people on here don't really do that I specifically work on one brand so you're going to feel overwhelming with what I show you obviously you're going to see more of specific things for me and not so much of others so that's why you would feel that way but that's using logic and common sense I would think that you would have that seeing as you're probably some kind of airline pilot or captain or something like that right? So maybe we should use that common sense and ability to critically problem solve and think and communicate that way

      @@vanchie21 You first have to figure out what's causing it to hang up. I would start by working the sunroof motor by hand. Go through its entire range of motion and if there is some type of mechanical issue with the track, you'll feel it. If you have a panoramic roof with 2 motors, you have to work them both at the same time. If the track is working OK and both pieces of glass are lined up properly, you're either not programing the motor right, or there's something wrong with the motor and its not holding the programming.
      Ford sunroofs are a real pain in the ass to program. I don't know where you're getting the procedure from, but you need to get a printout of the actual workshop manual, and follow it to the letter. Also, leave the headliner down until you get everything working. When you do the program, the instructions will tell you where the sunroof glass needs to be to start the process. If you can't get it in place with the motor, you'll have to do it manually. If the programming doesn't work, keep trying.
      Don't feel bad if you can't get it to work. I had one that was giving such a problem, Ford sent out one of our field engineers to the shop. He got there at 8 am and worked nonstop until 6pm. Couldn't get it. He looked like he went through hell. He also replaced 9 motors and none of it helped.
