My favorite thing about 00 and why he's my favorite is because he does nothing but take halo and its lore for what it is, and doesn't just bag on it like other content creators. He takes some unpopular concepts and makes them much more likeable just because he takes them for the whole concept

Less than one second in Halo, and one of the most powerful moments in all of Halo, showing off just the kind of AI Cortana is.
Cortana stabilized herself enough to manifest herself, time her actions perfectly, manipulate the hardlight bridge to wrap around Chief to save him, and both had a lengthy conversation, all in less than a second. Just wow.

Genuinely awesome breakdown. Of all the times chief has been on the knife's edge of death, I think that moment he activated the nuke, he knew it was over more than ever before. His perceptions and reaction time, his spartan time, was probably at maximum ability in that moment and the seconds that followed.

Chiefs survivor’s guilt must be immensely heavy. As heavy as him in his armor. For everything and everyone he’s willingly sacrificed, reluctantly lost, and all of the situations hes survived - which would be (WAS) certain death for anyone else. Though he’s never truly alone and beings like Fernando Esparza, Weapon and all the people who are happy to help or serve alongside him, he’s still in the end, alone on an internal degree. His actions, muscle memory of constantly checking his weapon and being in a ready stance, and very armored and short responses to questions of others around him, I can see why Cortana begged Chief to remember that he’s human. I feel like losing Cortana not once, but three times - Halo 4, being unable to bring her home in Halo 5, and not even being conscious nor present during her (seemingly definite) destruction on Zeta Halo, has done a number on him beyond what the lore is currently showing imo. If 343 can execute it correctly, they can make us cry with the next game without even killing Chief off.

2:58 Given that it's basically a big thermos, I'd argue that it should be classified as a small nuclear device. Imagine the power of proper nuclear missiles if that tiny thing is 30 megatons.
Also, why did Chief have to press the button in the first place? Put him in the shield, then make a hard-light finger to press the button. That way, Cortana wouldn't have to make such a quick action. Safer for the Chief in case something goes wrong.

In one of the books, Fall of Reach, there was activation cards needed to prepare, and then, finally activate the havoc nuke that destroyed a city in that book. It could be that in this case, it's a last ditch effort, activated by a few methods to even allow you to get to such a position that you have to smack what amounts to a properly weaponized version of the demon core. If you really want to ensure something is destroyed, and are absolutely willing to put everything on the line, and everything is setup by that point.. Fuck it. Smack it to hell and back.

To be fair, the "medium yield" part could be a dig at the whole IRL concept of "Tactical Nukes".
For those unfamiliar, in military parlance there are 2 main classifications of military weapons: Tactical and Strategic.
Tactical is TYPICALLY conventional in nature, basic explosives and the like that can be trusted to field commanders to implement properly. These are by no means weak, pretty much everything fired in anger since Hiroshima has been tactical in nature.
Strategic weapons are things so destructive and heinous that they need civilian permission [typically ordered by the President directly] to use. Fire Bombs, Biological & Chemical weapons, and most nukes, are all strategic in scope, a general cannot "just use them".
In the 50s and 6s, as the physical size of nukes shrunk to allow such a thing, the USA and USSR tested so-called "tactical nuclear weapons", nukes small enough to trust generals with. in the kiloton range [like Fat Man and Little Boy] as opposed to he megaton Strategic nukes.
This culminated [for the US anyway, Russia still has tactical nukes in theory] in the Davey Crockett. A freaking nuclear howitzer shell. The problem with it was, depending on weather and terrain, the howitzer couldn't launch the nukes far enough to guarantee survival of the unit firing it [like how the Ghost in Starcraft sometimes gets caught in the blast of the nuke they are guiding]. In addition, as tactical in nature, it was intended to fire on fortifications and formations to soften them up prior to assault [as opposed to destroying strategic targets, like cities]. the US Army quickly realized that even if the nuke could be fired far enough to be "safe", assaulting INTO FALLOUT is a stupid idea.
The weapon in this story is one of these "Tactical Nukes" designed to be used in combat.

    • @Andrewy27
      @Andrewy27 5 месяцев назад +1

      Close but not quite.
Tactical and strategic are classifications for nuclear weapons (not all weapons), whereas the description you've given are based on what they mean, respectively, with an added modifier of range included.
Tactical nukes are short-range devices intended for military use on a battlefield, while strategic nukes are long-range devices intended for the destruction of a country's ability to continue a war, including its population.
Since the Halo universe is set primarily in space, the size and scope of what tactical and strategic mean are vastly different than what they mean here on Earth.

My favorite aspect of this video byfar... Is the speculation that because of the time dilation and mixture of many other factors he so very intelligently describes. They were in pretty much a form of limbo but moreso the Spiritual Realm so to speak, to say thier final, emotional goodbye 🫂. This is such a epically based theory because what we know about all accounts of the Spirit Realm is the absence of space(cant be found physically or mapped) and time, a moment in the Spiritual Realm could be relative to thousands of years in our human/mortal Spacetime Continium or vice versa due to the abscense of spacetime itself there. I believe this fully explains the time discrepancy between Athiest and Christians about the age and knowledge of recorded time, of the Earth. We know that evidentiary records of civilization date back to about 4000BC or so but radiocarbon dating can date fossils and things back as far as millions of years. This being said i believe fully the Garden of Eden, being Guarded by Warrior Angels themselves, with a fiery sword that doesnt have to be turned when engaging (obviously a higher dimension shape to it), and the Father himself dwelling in it along with other timeless Spiritual beings such as Satan himself. This land or plane was not of our dimension, more overwhelming evidence from the fact Adam and Eve, had they not been cursed for disobedience, would never have died!! Our punishment as humanity, is TIME itself (watching the beautiful precious things we love have to grow, age, and die before us 😢). Hence Time itself is in a ultimatum, Death itself. Think about it, what's the worst punishment a judge can give you before death 💀 ☠️ itself , is TIME, they give you time, or more or less take it away by adding it to you. The Garden of Eden, existing on Earth, but being separated (guarded by warrior cherubim after Adam and Eve's Exile) , being a timeless plane, could have existed for millions of years relative of its surrounding, third dimensional Earth coinciding in tandem. There may very well and most likely were already civilizations formed and ready around the first ever Jews to emerge on Earth(also making sense of the age old theory that Jews were spiritual travelers from another planet like Mars or Mars itself that used a Kaballah to transport themselves and thier eternal souls to Earth). And that makes perfect sense to what the dwellers on Earth must have expierienced having these travellers out of nowhere seemingly show up outta the blue and possess great Intelligence. Also hence why they were eventually enslaved, as most foriegn refugees are in a strange land being taken as Slaves/Indentured Servants in exhange for thier place in the land. This is why Isreal and Egypt exist to this day because God ALWAYS keeps his promises and told of Isreal being ser aside for the Jews by divine right, hence why all nations rival, swarm, and attack Isreal regularly throughout history (6 day war 🇮🇱💪💪🔥). They are Jealous of the Jewish birthright of the Holy Land up untill the Anti-Christ takes his seat in the end of days for the trials and judgment of Earth, followed by the full overthrow of him and the seat being returned to its RIGHTFUL (always) King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ for a age of peace 2000 years, untill the final days leading to the full end of the war... VICTORY. New Heaven and New Earth shall then commence with a beautiful, unimaginable paradise waiting for his Children for all Eternity.

Cortana suddenly became extremely emotional and out of character with no build up or signs prior, the Didact for some reason didn't kill Chief even when he had opportunities to do so, he also decided after just waking up to go to war with humanity without having done any reasonable observarion (When it's 4 years after Halo 3, aka, when HUMANITY WAS ALMOST ALL DEAD), the elites that decided to stick to a remnant of the covenant that WANTED THEM ALL DEAD, AND EVEN LEAD IT, Chief being specifically made for aome prophecy that he could have and almost multiple times DIED and hence fail to fulfill to stop a chaotic forerunner, cannot forget a Ship captain who is a veteran of the human covenant war and was calm up to that point, yelling like a child at the Master Chief instead of everu single person wanting him to hand Cortana over after her rampancy ARCED THE SHIP'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN FRONT OF THEM IN ANGER, she if it was Bungie would have TERMINATED HERSELF to avoid compromise of her allies, then Chief survives the nuke and talks to Cortana before being in space INTACT and then picked up without radiation procautions which HE SHOULDN'T HAVE, PERIOD.

Only Halo Reach hit me harder the first playthrough.
I still like to pretend the Chief retired after the events of Halo 4 and the other two games didn't happen.
I'd always assumed that Chief was teleported to some distance from Mantle's Approach and the time dilation was also accounting for the time it took for the explosion to propagate the 200ish kilometers across the ship and destroy any final vestiges of power generation.
But yeah, I love the idea that the unique connection that Chief and Cortana had allowed them to say goodbye at the end.
