OMG!!! Finally someone has reacted to this great, fun song. In 1974 as a teenager this song was all over the radio reached #12 on the billboard charts!
Today it would be #1
@@michaelasay6140 Yes, and I think Shirley is sexy and adorable, she has it going on!
@@michaelasay6140
W/no doubt
This is my era of music, and blacks and white got along and we loved each other! It's a shame what our gov has done to separate us!!!
Well said! NO VERSION could ever top this one. R.I.P. beautiful Shirley.
Yet ANOTHER 70s classic!
I visited her very neglected grave in New Orleans a couple weeks back. THAT is truly a shame.
I 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 this song back in the day❣️💯😽💋
Omg!!! I haven’t even had my coffee yet and you got me dancing by myself in my living room!!! Cannot sit still during this one!! 💃🏻
Shirley and company is the best version.
Well, its a cover, but it is also my favorite cover of the 1963 Jimmy Reed hit.
I danced my ass off went it came out in 1975 in West Hollywood at Studio One !!! On of my favorite all time songs.
This song is on another level!
I loved that song then and I love it even more today, what a fantastic groove and powerful vocals!
"Shirley" was Shirley Goodman, who was one half of Shirley & Lee, who had a huge hit in 1956, "Let the Good Times Roll." "Company" was Jason Alvarez, who is now a preacher.
Yr kidding?! So she must have passed ona long time ago. How u know all this info, lol
I know it because I'm old. Also, Wikepedia.

This song was a massive hit in 1974
So good. Jason Alvarez....what a voice.
DISCO !!!
🕺
Great days.
So many from back then.
That was gold 🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏
Great 70's tune..
This song is a classic gem pure genius and also simple she's passed away and Mr Alvarez is now pastor always fresh and check out Tina Turner with Cher doing this Tina was outstanding ❤️
there is a rare extended version of shame. its all great
My time the best 1970's songs
This 1974 song was popular at about the same time as another big dance hit, George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," and they go together in my head for some reason.
Agree 100%
Yes fairly similar beat. And don't forget George's wife - Gwen McCrae's - hit from the following year - Rockin' Chair.
I would add Joe Simon's "Get Down, Get Down (Get on the Floor)" to that playlist as well.
...then Rock the Boat.
Your reaction was as good as the song, amazing
I wish Jason and Shirley had recorded more tunes together!
I haven't heard this in so long.
omg ! I remember this one .... Such a blast from the past ! Such good memories - I love you mom !!
Such a great song and great voices
Early Disco. Cool track.
Jason (Jesus) Alvarez was my pastor for about 5 years and I always enjoyed his music ministry. Great songs, lol.
My Fave Early Disco Record.
I remember that I danced with this song in the disco. So much fun!!!
Harry I was 5 years old playing dj on my record player playing this ! I was young but this was special ! Love your channel
I was 15 when this was released
Thanks Harri for yet ANOTHER wonderful reaction. Your enthusiasm actually adds to the enjoyment of this fabulous classic . Cheers man .
No wonder singer's wanted to cover this. Brilliant. Great reaction. Cheers from Canada
I had the 8track to this 😂
I used to dance to this back in the day. This is the best version!
The man with that awesome falsetto is Jason Alvarez and he’s a Pastor in NJ.
Great reaction. You really got into it! What a blast!
I'm going back and watch again . . .
Oh Harri……I’ve never seen groove so hard❤❤❤❤❤❤
love seeing the video heard the song my whole life and never seen the group very cool
Wr need more outlets for Soul, R&B and Funk for our black youngsters like this to see where they get their music from...
And Disco.
@@anglosaxon5874 disco was whitebreaded for most of us.
@@rondmc44 Huh? I'm from England so what's 'whitebreaded'?
@anglosaxon5874 just because it's fast-tempo music doesn't mean we'll dance to anything. It was a fad, most R&B bands did at least one disco song on their albums, then left it alone. (I was a former DJ.) I used to like disco a little bit, but now it sounds dated. Disco didn't come from the "hood"....
@@rondmc44Who gives a damn? I was a former dj too [still have my equipment (I'm 62)]. Edit: Who said it came from the 'hood'? This song is a disco song. And stop being racist only considering one race! I agree, the youth need to get away from the evil of rap/hip hop! Never liked that 'music' and never will!
Hes right about one thing...its fantastic..the vocals...its infectious and joyous. Jesus Christ man...its too 🔥
Just so you know, this song was inescapable when it was out all those years ago. It was a great groove then and it still is. I'm glad you put a spotlight on this one...
Gotta have dance music! What is life without it? Unhappy that's what, can't do that. Have to have that happy music 🎶 🎵 You should be dancing, isn't just a song, it is true. We need dance music.
Irresistible! Instant time machine! ✌😘🎶🎸🎷🎺🔥🔥🔥💞💃
this was a feel good song and groove!
I remember this on the radio and remember John Lennon saying either in an interview or on the radio that he liked this song a lot :) a great groove for sure!!
Love Shirley & Company 🎶 makes you wanna dance !!
Now for a real get down, funky sound go & check out Morris Day and The Time … bogeying to Jungle… you’ll know where their love for Prince came from & later doing a salute to Prince at the Grammy Awards 😍 I think Bruno Mars got a few ideas from Morris Day 💗💎🎶😻
Basically a very simple song and so acceptable, great rhythm, especially when the cymbals come in, you have to dance to it, I always like to listen to it. Even when others perform it, Tina Turner, Cher is always good. Guido Croatia (68)
Brillant ❤️❤️❤️
In the same era was a hit song by Joe Tex, "Don't Want to Bump No Mo' with no Big Fat Woman." It had the same humorous, make-you-dance vibe.
Such a fun reaction, Harri!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ one of my abolute fav from my early teens 💃🕺💃🕺💃
I started following you recently and love your channel! I also want to mention that despite being a 70s baby, I never heard this song. Thanks for planting the seed in my ear because now I can’t stop listening to it. Keep up the great work!

Holy chit, that was indeed a trip down memory lane - I hadn't thought of this song in years, thank you for sharing this. I may be older, but I can still chair dance with the best of them. Thanks again, young man. That was a great song and reaction.
This one was a twofer. One, I never heard of this group. Two, I got up and danced. Your energy was infectious, and the song was just a lot of fun.
Thats what i like to hear Greg! Shake your pants! 😂🤣😂
Hi Harri, Congratulations, you just struck gold! - Brooklyn Mike
another great selection 🙏👍🙏🦋🌈🌞🌻💜
I lived in Columbus when this song came out!!!
I remember hearing this in the mid-70s for the first time down the Jersey shore, standing on the beach. I was tuned into WNBC which was broadcasting out of New York City. I went crazy for it and have loved it ever since
now this one has you moving my man :)
You’re looking stylin’ today, Harri, with you bright flower shirt and red background! You always bring a smile to my face. Thanks for the reaction. I’m a child of the 70’s and haven’t heard this song for a minute!
Brilliant mate. Haven’t heard this for yonks. Really enjoyed your reaction, you seem such a genuine guy. Always a pleasure.
you should do dancing songs every friday 🙌💃🏼🙌😎
I should 😀
@@HarriBestReactions THE LATE SHIRLEY FROM POPULAR DUO SHIRLEY AND LEE LEE DIED IN 1978 I BELIEVE THEY HAD BIG HIT IN 1956 LET GOOD TIMES ROLL. AND I FEEL GOOD
This song reminds me of the Bee Gees "Stayin Alive." It has a similar riff.
Back in the club in the seventies. Boogie on down. The original is always the best
Harri, please react to a lesser-known Gloria Gaynor song which never failed to fill the dance floor back in the day, "Honey Bee."
Kc and the sunshine band.Any song and you will be dancing
I heard it at the gym this morning and had to find out who did it and when.....
Bravo!!!
Wow great to see you enjoy this song so much . yes it is Disco many many people danced to this song and with all of the reactions many more are dancing to it today . it's great to see the younger generation listen to the music from back in the day and loving it as much as we did and still (do) brings back good memories . thank you for the reaction it was great loved it !

Harri have a listen to Shirley's earlier hit from 1956 "Let The Good Times Roll" by Shirley and Lee
The music sounds like the music on the song "Clean up Woman", by
Betty Wright.
Next Friday play ...Wild Cherry, play that funky music
Search on RUclips for a current interview with the singer now who is a pastor Jason Alvarez on The Harvest Show
I was somewhat familiar with this song, but I always thought it was done by a female solo artist.
Omg sounds like u might have a good voice!
gotta try "i aint gonna bump" by Joe tex or "I gotcha" by joe tex
Youre too to handle? Thats what she said...yes? Haha
