to clarify, the mark on Suika's helmet is only on her helmet its not on her actual body only people with cracks on their actual body were revived from the stone also the dog, Chalk is theorized to be descended from the dog we saw in the beginning of the show
12:44 Ramen and other noodles is normally made from wheat or rice flour rather than millet (and note this is a _wild_ millet rather than a grain bred for good flavor and texture), but you could technically grind any grain into flour and make noodles from it. The rough process they showed here is accurate, though. Beat the grain (threshing) to remove the outer hull, grind it, mix with water (and often egg) and work it a lot into dough, roll that out into sheets, fold the sheets several times, cut into strips, then boil them briefly.
A few things: Ramen is a comfort food of sorts in Japan so being a Japanese anime it makes sense Senku would think of it to help win people over. Plus it's relatively easy to get the ingredients at this point until they find wheat. It's also noteworthy to mention the cart Senku and Chrome bring over is indeed a primitive ramen street cart! If you look at photos online for street ramen carts they look almost identical to what Senku built! Also, those musical notes Suika plays are in fact actual traditional music which accompanies ramen carts in Japan! It's the equivalent to the jingling bells of an ice cream truck to most Americans. Also, notice Kohaku praises Senku twice in this episode - once when she says she doesn't think he's dumb, and again when she admits she thinks he's handsome (even if he may not be the guy the sisters might want in a man). I can't help but notice that she also doesn't give him any lumps like she gave Chrome. She likes him IMO! I'm a bit skeptical about the constellation movement. I was taught in my science classes that wouldn't happen for 30K years!! Perhaps experts have adjusted this but it's something I never forgot. Also, how do we know if the scientists are right on that? None of us will be around to confirm if they were or not. Momotaro is a reference to a Japanese folktale about an elderly couple who find a baby boy in a giant peach. They raise him to adulthood and he goes off with some animal friends (not the ones Chrome identifies) and defeats evil monsters. It's about as well known in Japan as classic US and European fairytales are in the West. You should go to a local ramen joint! You'll love it!
Fun Fact: the reason why swords were so valuable back then is exactly the same problem Senku and the gang is having right now. The tech needed to heat metal to a high enough temperature doesn't exist yet, so metal can only be produced in small quantities. That's why back then, swords were treated as a sign of status.
Sort of. Smelting iron requires dramatically higher heat than many other metals, which is why you hear about the Bronze Age before the Iron Age. Copper was also used in some cases either before bronze (which is copper alloyed mainly with tin) was discovered or where tin wasn't available. Making metal weapons was a thing long before iron was used, so it's not specifically the difficulty of iron smelting that was at play. In most cases, it was the scarcity of ore for lack of industrial mining. In particular, a sword takes far more metal than a spear (plus a spear is much easier to learn and use), which made having a sword a status symbol announcing you have money to burn.
Soon we get to the beauty of this series and why I keep coming back to it. In a later episode, someone says "What you are making is completely unrelated, yet we keep growing richer and richer". Even if he makes something not necessairly a step for what they want to make, it just makes their lives better
Which is completely accurate to the real world. Tons of modern conveniences were invented on accident or as byproducts of something else. The microwave is probably the most ubiquitous example.
I've seen plenty of people on RUclips making Ramen or Cola as shown in the anime, so yes, most things you see there are actually legit. Even some professors or actual biologists, physicists, said it was accurate. Well, not "accurate" accurate. But overall, like 85-90%, you see, you can do at home.
everything you see is accurate. Ramen could be made from foxtail millet but we have better optioms now. Like wheat. They aren't that lucky with their hunt for grains now, so that's what they stuck with.
So... before 20th century modern medicine was basically non-existent. For much of the history - especially in the west the way to "cure" someone when ill was to pray really hard and perform bloodletting (which is actually a way to make everything worse for most illnesses as you weaken the body with bloodloss and risk infection for no reason). Back in middle ages flu could easily be lethal. Personally it fascinates me that Senku chose the mineral route for the Antibiothics considering that making Penicilin requires very little actual effort or work, you just wait for it to work out. Indeed for the lowest quality of iron production you need 900 degrees celsius or so. In general the higher the heat the more pure metal you can create. And yes the thing they are doing is a way to heat it up but proper medieval forge would have one much larger "leather bag" for air that does the work easily since it blows a lot harder - its a bit of an artistic choice to make tiny blowing things and fail to make it that way (if they instead made one big bag and took turns using it, they could probably do it even with such a shitty smeltery) - alternatively they could produce charcoal which can generate way more heat than wood with not much extra effort. The funny thing is that if you were to have infinite knowledge of what we are able to do, you dont need manpower as there is always a way to cut down on the work that some lazyass fifteen centuries ago came up with. Yes this is how noodles are made, you get flour (obv in modern world we dont grind it by hand using stones and we have industrial trashers but then using water and yolk you make it into noodles which you then cook.
While bloodletting was a thing (and prayer) there has also been herbal medicines. They were replaced by petroleum based drugs thanks to the Rockefellers (look into that story!). However, many herbal remedies are still viable and work as well if not better than many patent medicines if you know what each plant does. Sulfa drugs indeed was the standard until after WW2 when penicillin became more widespread. My parents (who grew up in the 50s) told me it was seen as a wonder drug and was often given out whenever anyone came down with a cold. Used to knock it out of the body almost immediately. It's true when Senku mentions that the mold used for it is a roll of the dice - since there is no way of knowing yet what is biologically available in post petrification Japan. Alexander Fleming discovered his mold culture by accident because he left it on the window sill and if fate had been different, it could have been a completely different culture.
Neel, do you plan on watching the sequel to Seven Deadly Sins? Four knights of the apocalypse. The sequel is AMAZING, and the animation is more beautiful than ever. Not to mention the story, which is incredible.
please make a vd a little longer, it can't connect feeling like other reaction vd from months ago, and it feel a little lose interest if vd are cut too much.
I cant do these mainstreamer normie shows anymore.. also 1000000 reactions of this done already. 😢 Who tf is advising him so terribly so many good shows under-reacted to
I love the wordplay
"A watermelon?"
"It's Suika. Why are you here?"
suika is literally the Japanese word for watermelon
to clarify, the mark on Suika's helmet is only on her helmet its not on her actual body
only people with cracks on their actual body were revived from the stone
also the dog, Chalk is theorized to be descended from the dog we saw in the beginning of the show
not theorized, confirmed by the author
4:00 I realized North Star is moving before Senku when i originally watched the show.
Love the reactions.

Ruri as a priestess fulfills a very special role, different from the village chief.
And Suika is absolutely the MVP.

There was also herbal medicine. Each plant has a purpose to harm or heal. Many herbal remedies rival many patent medicines.
