I made the mistake of trying to rush through Fable Canyon and got smacked back to reality by that dryfall at 9:18. The Hayduke sure makes for vivid memories. Also, I'm with Sprocket on team walk-around-the-dryfall at 10:11. You're insane.
I loved climbing all the things out there! That was a big part of the fun in this trail for me, how both of us would take different routes on even the smallest of levels in navigation
You guys are experiencing spectacular geology in ways and places that few ever will. I know you know what you're doing, but sometimes I hold my breath when I see how easy it would be to take a slip and fall. Great video!
Thank you for sharing these great canyon views. Memories of days gone by way too fast, We still keep coming back to these places to do as much we can as the clock ticks on! Looking forward to more as you progress further into Utah! 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
Many years ago my buddy and I got caught in a dramatic rain event in Needles. Walls of water and falls. The rangers said that was the largest rain event and they had concern for those of us in the backcountry. Was one I won't forget.
I hiked a lot in Canyonlands when I went to wilderness therapy in 2015. I had a blast, and watching this reminded me just how fortunate I was to be able to do that.
Such a beautiful, epic, amazing journey. It looks and sounds like everything I've imaged the Hayduke to be. I'm not experienced enough in the desert to do it (have only enough to know how serious it is) , and I'm so thankful you're sharing it all with us. Looking forward to the next episodes.
such beautiful and unique country, thanks for educating everyone about the fragility of it. I can really see how the additional problem solving and navigation is giving you the challenge you wanted from a hike. It must've been so cool to meet some other people on a similar to you and sprocket in terms of their experience levels. Looks like sprocket is really making a lot use of the hiking poles, but also seems like they can get a bit in the way in some scrambles. If you were going again would you take some?
Jupiter and Sprocket this has been a great series. Canyonlands is my absolute most favorite park to hike in especially the Needles district. Have not made it out to the Maze. Glad you enjoyed it. ATB
I'm trying to get my head around the views and scenery you are witnessing, as I'm stunned looking at them on a 5.5" smartphone screen, so what it must be like for you both! Only one way to truly know, and that's to haul our behinds out there. Amazing what you guys are doing, and thanks for the sharing and inspiration. 🙏💚
I've done this section of the hayduke before and you are right, it is just so difficult to capture how crazy the landscape is! It's really hard to do it justice.
I’ve been section hiking the Heyduke, and there were a couple of places where I could not avoid the cryptobiotic soil. It was sad, but I just couldn’t find any trail. As you know, it gets super remote in certain sections. I would like some of the areas to be marked with cairns or something, so that future hikers will be able to better protect the crypto
I unfortunately had the same issue as well. I took a lot of alternates and would constantly have to step on crypto because there was literally no other option and it made me so sad :(
A stunningly massive amount of water passed through the American Southwest, especially the Four Corners region, where an inland sea existed for nearly 3 millennia, into relatively recent times!
There is some astonishing things out there, glad you got to see them. This year feels a little like the year of the Hayduke, I know of 4 youtube channels showing it.
I cant say for sure, but i think that might have been a dixie valley toad you filmed. Its pretty special to see them, they are on the endangered species list. I was able to see one while hiking in lake mead national park. They are cute lil creatures.
I started a short backpack trip in Capitol Reef some years ago, following a GPS track I'd downloaded from the web. In a couple hours I abandoned the trip, turned around back to the car. One, my phone battery was dying too quickly (and I didn't have a power bank) and two, I felt so bad about walking on the crypto-whatever crust. I knew it was bad and wondered why the track I had found online on a nice blog post recommended it.
OUR HOME,PLANET EARTH, HAS SUCH RICH TREASURES THHE CREATOR HAS LEFT FOR OUR ENJOYMENT !!!!! THIS IS Y I LUV PACKING AND CAR CAMPING !!!! SO OFTEN ONLY WITH A PACK ON HAVE I TRULY ENJOYED THE RICHNESS OF SUCH GIFTS IN ALL ITS WAYS !!❤😊
spectacular country! also, interesting choice of footwear. You're both wearing trail runners. Because much of this hike is off trail over rugged terrain, did you consider wearing actual hiking boots, like in days of old, leather up to the ankles, vibram sole? I realize you'd be adding pounds to your feet, but I wonder whether the payoff in greater ease of negotiating the rocky terrain would more than offset the extra weight.
Please tell me it looks sketchier in the video than it actually was in person. I said out loud, "F-off" in some of those sections. With all possible respect.
@@JupiterHikes Man, I don't think I could do that trail. At least not solo. I'd be terrified. Just ball up in a corner at one of those sketchy parts and start crying.
My question is how are you gonna deal with the potential for huge fines from the parks service for filming in the park. theyve made filming for youtube channels a huge permitting process and if not followed, huge fines as well. im sure youll fly under the radar at your current level of fame, but Ill consider myself lucky I saw this before being striked.
@@DavidMitchell-qx9nethis is not true. If you are filming for a for profit and popular RUclips channel you will be wise to apply for the permit and not have to pull your video down to avoid other fines. Begging forgiveness is not the right approach anymore. Joe Blow citizen visiting our parks need not be concerned though.
Canyonlands was a lot of fun! We took the peekaboo alternate through the park and couldn't recommend it enough. Thank you for watching!
Thanks!
I’m with Sprocket, I think this is the best thru hike episode I’ve ever seen. Fantastic landscapes and fantastic filmmaking!

This hike looks so much more intimidating than the AT, but much more beautiful.... don't think it's one I'll be able to do in my lifetime
It is. And that 800 is much harder than anything over there. And WAY more bueatiful. The WEST IS THE BEST!!
I hiked a lot in Canyonlands when I went to wilderness therapy in 2015. I had a blast, and watching this reminded me just how fortunate I was to be able to do that.
Your comments about the AZT vs the Hayduke are right on. This looks like a great section!
Wonderful travelogue through a beautiful trail. Thank you.
Where are the wind chimes coming from? Edward Abbey called them poetry. Love all the
HOODOOS, magic.
Love seeing you guys having so much fun in my home state!

Me, no I'd still hike without. Sprocket says she liked them on some of the steeper sections with a lot of loose rock!
Watched with Elle and Kristen- there was oohing 😮and ahh-ing 🤩and oh no-ing 😳. Blown away!
Your videos are the best, you guys are awesome! Keep on rolling!

I think those are our footprints with the bear lol. Unfortunately we never met.
Juniper and Sprocket living their best lives.
I hiked 600 miles of the Hayduke in 2015 and 17. Enjoying reliving challenges.

Love you telling us about the bio soil.
“Here we are, just little bystanders poking our way through.” 15:30
Did you run into Dirty Avocado and Jar Head on the trail? They mentioned you two in one of their videos.
The bear is doing the Hayduke just like you are.
stunning. Maybe I will do a section of it some day, but the risk of being stranded-cliffed-out terrifies me.

Amazing scenery , expecting to see Glen Ford out there filming a Western 😊 Do you back up GPS with a compass ? Just in case

Hey did you run into walking tapeworm? He was doing the hayduke also .
Lack of trail clarity looks kinda sketch to me. Good work staying on it.
