- At Hannover Adventure Zoo the polar bears have got a great home: in the theme world Yukon Bay, there is one of the best installations for polar bears in the world. Species conservation officer Kathrin Roeper knows all sorts of exciting things about this facility, its inhabitants and the associated conservation project.
The installation of several enclosures offers plenty of variety for the animals and, together with the care provided by the animal caretakers, contributes to the animal welfare of these animals. A particular highlight is the wave system, which gives the impression of looking directly at a coast.
Hannover Zoo manages to take visitors into the world of these impressive animals and present them authentically. Yukon Bay is one of several theme worlds and you feel like you are in Canada. Thus, the visitors feel closer to the animals as if the animals were presented in a classic enclosure.
Polar Bears are listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN. In modern zoos and aquariums, ambassadors of this kind can be seen and they are of enormous importance for their protection. The Hannover Adventure Zoo, for example, supports Polar Bears International. How exactly this happens, Kathrin Roeper explains during the video.
The experts of the conservation organization were also on site, praised the plant and the excellent condition of the polar bears that inhabit it. This is also an important proof of how well this installation is designed.
Currently, three animals inhabit the installation: The female Milana is to choose one of the two males as a partner. These two are called Nanook and Sprinter. One of them can be seen underwater playing in the video.
Modern zoological facilities, like Hannover Adventure Zoo, are important centers for conservation, education, and research. Here people can look at the animals live and safe and learn how to prevent their extinction.
A special highlight of the facility is that you can watch the animals underwater and see how gracefully the polar bears can move under the water surface while diving. A very impressive experience.

Milana ist eine schöne Eisbärin! Es war doch klar, dass die Freundschaft der Jungs nur so lange hält, bis ein Mädel einzieht.
Ja, die Anlage ist wirklich toll. Leben auf dem Abenteuerspielplatz :-) Ich kenne sie natürlich und finde sie vor Ort noch beeindruckender, als im Video.

Stimmt, du hast Recht - es massiv schwer, sie in einem Video wirklich ihrer Gänze einzufangen und wir haben auch festgestellt, dass es fast unmöglich ist, sie in einem Foto gut zu repräsentieren. Aber das ist ja auch kein Nachteil, denn so müssen die Leute den Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover besuchen, um es wirklich erleben zu können und das ist auch ganz gut, denn jeder Besuch hilft natürlich auch Polar Bears International und so den Eisbären auf der ganzen Welt. 🙂
Und seit 20.11.19 hat Hannover noch eine Eisbärin, die süße Nana. Ein tolles Mädchen.

Ja, ein Besuch löhnt sich echt - wir waren sehr begeistert vom Zoo. Die Idee der Themenwelten ist etwas ganz besonderes und gefällt uns sehr gut, weil sie erstklassig umgesetzt sind.

Ne, in dem Fall ja gerade nicht - Milana hat inzwischen den Eisbären ihrer Träume und lebt mit ihm schon zusammen. Sie verstehen sich exzellent. 👍🙂

Gibt es in der Zukunft wieder Orang Utans in Hannover?
Da fragst du am besten den Zoo selbst.
Sobald die neue Laufhalle für die Elefanten fertiggestellt ist, werden die Gibbons und Orang Utans wieder nach Hannover zurückkehren. Der Bau hat aber erst im letzten Jahr begonnen und es wird wohl noch ein Weilchen dauern.
Sind Hunde zu Besuch erlaubt ? Dürfen sie in manche bereiche nicht rein ?

Am besten fragst du da beim Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover direkt nach, denn wir sind uns nicht sicher, meinen aber, dass es erlaubt ist.

Der Bärenhaltung stehe ich kritischer gegenüber. Ich habe schon tolle Gehege gesehen, in denen die Bären Verhaltensstörungen aufwiesen. Von diesem Gehege bin ich allerdings beigeisert! Die Tieren haben echt viele Reize.
Ja, konstruktiv und sachlich kritisch sollte man immer sein und dazu gehört es auch, so wunderbare Haltungen wie die in Hannover gut zu finden. Die Tiere haben dort eine wahre Oase und sie werden den Besuchern ideal präsentiert.
Die Bären weisen stereotypische Verhaltensweisen auf. Dieses Gehege ist wie ein Gefängnis mit etwas Luxus ausgestattet,nicht mehr und nicht weniger.

@@sabinekiel4886 : Das ist gelogen - kein Eisbär im Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover weist irgendwelche stereotypischen Verhaltensweisen auf, die mit seiner Haltung dort in Zusammenhang stehen.
