Best video for chain link repair I've seen so far, it was full of step by step instructions so even knuckleheads like me could understand it. Nice job.
Wow, thanks!
I swear of all platforms I'm most grateful for RUclips because of these tutorials. Changed my own rotors and brakes, fixed a toilet with RUclips. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge 🙏🏾
Great to hear! You're welcome. 👍🏻
Believe this or not, but I learned how to rebuild my truck's engine with RUclips.
@@GuiltyPleasures I’ve used RUclips videos to learn how to replace the horns and brake switch in my truck, how to shock chlorinate my well, how to replace a sink, how to construct a fire pit out of cinder blocks, how to raise ducks, and now how to repair holes in their chain-link enclosure. I feel like we’re using the internet the right way.
Same here
Absolutely!! Best app that's ever been or will ever be.
This video was amazingly helpful. It's rare that I find a tutorial as well stated and presented as yours. Thank you. Kudos to you.
Awesome, thank you!
Very nice instructional video!
I’m about to make my first repair and I know I should cuss less now that I’ve watch this!
You can do it!
Man, what a useful video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
My pleasure!
People like this guy deserve thumbs up!!!!
Aw shucks! 😊
Thanks to your video I repaired a chain link fence today!
Love this! 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻
the best video on RUclips for this type of Fix. THANK YOU. Trent from Utah.
Wow, thanks! You're absolutely welcome. 👍🏻
This is great, exactly the info I need. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
That’s amazing. Thanks for the video.
You bet!
A really, well-produced, PROFESSIONAL video with logical, well written, & clear directions. Excellent "spokesman".
It's just all-around GREAT...couldn't have been better.
Thank you for those kind words!
Applying knowledge. Impressive!
This video was incredible! Thank you so much for creating it!
Glad it was helpful!
Found your video and Helped me replace a part of a fence. Will be ordering the tools you listed for the future to help make it a lot easier. But I did it! Lol 🎉
Excellent work! You got this! 👊🏻💪🏻
Fantastic explanation, thanks. I only had to watch the first few seconds and I got it figured out. Should I cut the extra tail ends off the zip ties?
Oh for sure. It's super unclassy to leave the tails on. 😆
@@SWiFence thank you for that advice! Ultimately, after doing that, I still felt like I could make it look even better, so I went to Home Depot and got the regular silver duct tape and did several wraps around each place where a black zip-tie was, and now you hardly know they're there 👍👍. It blends right in with the metal color. It looks so much better, I'm thinking of wrapping each overlapping link with the duct tape so it looks more uniform. Great video, thanks! If you decide to edit your video to include the duct tape idea, you can just throw me a shout-out
Will do! 😆😆👍🏻👍🏻
Hello, I am a woman and your film was perfekt for me. Now I can do this myself. Thanks!
You got this! 👍🏻💪🏻
Great video. Well done!
Thanks!
Excellent job of instructing! Thank you.
You're welcome!
You are fecking awesome, man! Theres a world of difference between teaching and getting it done, sometimes. You are great at both.
And thank you for this
You have no idea how encouraging that is. Thank you!
Was just about to ask if you had one of these videos. Just had a tree fall on mine. Appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent! Thank you!
You bet!
I'm glad to see even the pros struggle with chain link splices
You make it look so easy. Thanks. I’ll try it!
You got this!
Great video. Thanks!
Absolutely!
Very informative! I learned a lot! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Well, that was exceedingly helpful.
Excellent!
Awsome video as always👍 something else that I use instead of pull jacks is the dewalt clamps from homedepot that are like $30.
Thanks for the video, internet man.
You are welcome, other internet man.
Wonderful video so informative !! ☺️ thank you for sharing and taking the time to explain step by step. 👏👏👏
You are so welcome!
Nice job😊
Good job 👏
Thank you very much!
Amazing video. Need to fix a thief cut fence. I think we are more than convinced that you know what you are doing. You are welcome anytime to help us with our repair :) Thanks for posting.
Thanks! 👍
This was the best video I have seen for this
Thank you!
Man, this video is awesome! Thanks! I had to subscribe!
This guy is the real deal!!!!!!
Hey thanks!
You definitely made my chain link fence project less intimidating!
Yes!! 👍🏻
Super helpful man, thank you !
Glad it helped!
this was an awesome chain link repair!
Glad you liked it!
Very nice tutorial
Well thanks!
Nice thorough video. Wish you would post the fencing parts in the description and not just the tools.
I always find the terminology differences fascinating. Straw = needle, chain walker = chain grab, chain link rake = fingers. All same same but different. Been thinking of leaving California. You guys hiring? Once again as I’ve said before, been building fence the whole work week and still find myself watching it on RUclips on the weekend. Good job fellas! Keep it up.
Come to FL. Our St Augustine division is hiring! I'm the Lead Estimator for SWi Florida.
Wyoming's hiring too. 🙂 www.applicantpro.com/openings/swiwyoming/jobs
But unless you don't mind building fence in below zero weather you might prefer the Florida company. Either state is going to ask you to not bring California with you. 😉
One of my favourite chain link Chirps to co workers is “didn’t you take basket weaving in highschool?”
A very informative and well-made video that I really needed to watch but I do have one question (there is always one question). What if the hole is very small?
Same principles apply. 👍🏻
Good job man
You make that look so easy...and quick! I need to repair some of my chain link fence to keep the code enforcement dude off my butt (and to keep my little dogs in the yard when they need to go out). I have extra fence and am just dumb enough to attempt this on my own, but I have a feeling I'll just end up with 1000 mosquito bites and an even larger gaping hole in my fence. Can you be a dear and just swing by my house in Texas for a few minutes and fix it for me? 😁😁😜🤣
You make it sound so inviting... 😂 Don't worry--you've got this!
Thank You Buddy
Why not over tension the fence at the end so you have slack to put in the last straw? Is it too tight to do that?
Hello,
I’d like to ask for your advice. I have a fence with 19 terminal posts in a straight line. The terminal posts are 2-3/8” inches and 6ft tall above the ground. They are embedded 24 inches down in concrete. Approximately 15 of these posts are not plumb. They are slightly not level. Approximately 5 degrees off. I have a top rail going. I have also a top rail bar that is tension banded between all of these posts. My worry is that over time the terminal posts will continue to tilt. Should I correct them now or is it not worth the effort? What kind of lifespan can I expect if they are going to continue to tilt? Thank you in advanced.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Can you tell me the easiest way to remove clay dirt packed soil from the bottom of a post that was removed so I can re-pound it into the ground?
Dan, who was the perp who cut a square hole in your fence? I mean, I’ve seen a lot of break-ins in the movies… and a fair amount of break outs in prison movies… I don’t recollect ever seeing a diagonally positioned square hole. I’d suggest you go to the local artist commune to find the perp! (No charge for this tip… it’s just one of the many free services I provide to those trying to have a good danged day!)
And about those straws… are they alternatives to the much debated ‘paper or plastic’ options?
🤣 That's a good tip! I'll check there.
And no, these straws won't help you there!
Tried this at work today, with 8 ft repair.
It was ungodly how hard it was to twist the needle through, especially near the end,
We used a pulljack and a comealong method,
Ended up destroying the needle by the end of the day doing exactly what you mentioned about twisting from the top,
Any tips on how to do this better\easier?
A twist through is hard work--not going to argue with you there. You could maybe cut the strand in half, and twist each half in separately (leave an overlap)? Sorry--I don't have any great hacks for this.
Are you technically screwing it in or weaving it in? I mean it is woven fabric, plus I like being a difficult subscriber. Lol. I love it you guys. Great job.
🤦♂️🤣
thank you, I have been trying to put in a new straw, but jeep getting jammed I now see that I am lining the two sections incorrectly. Thanks
That was the best video
Good video.
Thanks!
I like the electrical pliers
Thanks!
For sure! Thank you!
Another great video - Where do you get your boots ?
I think I got these from Murdoch's locally.
I just bought a 7'8" by 150'.
My question is, I need to 60' sections for a tennis court. It's there any way to cut screen at 60' and add grommets?
I have a good question for the bottom of the chain link. The wire you use to reinforce the chain link to keep dogs from pushing under it, what is the best practice on that?
Hmmm, not sure what you're asking here.
@@SWiFence I was talking about the double braided wire you stretch at the bottom to keep the the fabric from getting stretched out at the bottom, but I just watched one of your videos where you showed your practice of doing that, but thanks for the reply. I really didn't know what to call it, and a neighbor has a dog that keeps getting out under it because no one ever put that wire at the bottom between the terminal posts. I guess I named them correctly; you put those 10' apart with a line post between them, and the wire that stretches between them. but I saw the hardware you use to connect them and then stretch the wire to put the tension on it and the lock the fabric to the wire with the links you use. I always see people wrapping that wire around the posts and stretching it by whatever means. I never see them use the double braded wire though; that makes more sense to add strength to the bottom of the fence. really enjoying the how to videos on chain link. I think I'm leaning more towards a cedar privacy fence, but I like the knowledge you are sharing on posts and chain link fence.
Superb sir
Thank you!
Genius
👍 i got my fence fixed cause i watched.
Awesome!
Oops, I forgot. You guys have a dang good day.
Damn good job
First 47 seconds was good enough for me
🤣
Every time I have to fix a fence that was cut I use the two puller bars and a come along. Tallest fence I have to deal with is 8 feet.
Eso fue bueno 👍
¡Gracias!
You are awesome
You just saved my drunk and idiotic me from losing 300€ to a Specialist!! Thank you!
Lol funny dude 😂.
I installed a chianlink fence but my corner port bend inward can u tell me the technique to make it straight
MASTER
I always thought the chain links were welded together until I saw this video lol
Learn something new every day.
what's the use of this fence when it can be cut so easily :D Seeing how easy it cuts, I think a repair using screwdrive metal band will suffice
The point of the fence is to keep animals and such in or out.. If you're worried about criminals, I suggest a large concrete wall!
Awesome video Dan and team, you did a great job showing how to repair chainlink fabric and love the zip ties in the beginning see that all the time 😂
Like comment and subscribe to this great fence content 👍👍👍👍
Also Have a good dang day
Where can I buy a few extra 4 foot straws?
Google your closest fence company. We can always ship to you but it's not really as economical as going somewhere local and picking some up. You may well have to buy a short stretch of fabric and take them apart.
8:06 Seen those… now I know what they are. Don’t know why I’m watching this, it’s not like I’m gonna ever fix my fence.
You never know!
Looks like you have the pole with the tension bar about 2 feet away. Couldn't you have just disconnected at the post, completed your repair weave with no tension on it, and then re-tensioned the fabric to the pole using the tension bar as an easier method?
You could disconnect it if that's your preference. We wanted to illustrate what to do if you don't have that option.
@@SWiFence Thanks for the reply. Makes sense since you were showing folks how to weave in a section like that. I was honestly curious if what I saw as a more logical solution since the pole was there, would have been a more efficient option. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Take care.
How do we figure out what fabric and gauge fence we have?
Hmmm, it's easiest for those who already know their fence. You'll have to look carefully at yours (or cut some off and bring it with you) and then compare it with some materials at the store that are labeled.
You know I wish the criminals in my area would cut one link all the way up and down, instead of all over the place. Like c’mon man, make our lives a little easier lol
For real! 🤣🤣
Not sure why you were struggling weaving the 1/2 diamond in, probably if you used comealongs it would have made it easier...
I like to make sure I don't overstretch.
Not sure why maybe for the video . But u had plenty of link to just go straight to the term
[Action required] point of break off with you and all connected persons.
?
I wasn't in the frame of mind to take a picture but the cemetery dad is buried In has 5 foot chain link stretched to 4 foot tall. The diamonds are not square at all. It looks terrible
There's a lot of terrible fence out there.
Probably to prevent kids sticking their foot inside
I just messed up my neighbors fence... All I need is one strand and it will be good as new.
My neighbor is a good guy and said don't bother, but if I can find a strand I'll fix it without telling him.
Peace people
Zip Tie method it is
😆😆
Someone knows what they're doing.
Aw shucks... 😁
14 foot
That’s gonna need a few more zip ties
🤣
Why call a key a straw? It's a key.
?
thank god i have no class
🤣
Why am I watching this..?
Because... it's so great you can't stop? 😄
Great video. Thank you.
You are welcome!
