  • The Nairobi Animal Orphanage, founded in 1964, is the earliest animal orphanage in Kenya, located within the Nairobi National Park, which is the only wildlife park in the world located within the capital city. In recent years, with the international community's attention to wildlife conservation, animal orphanages have become the main shelter and rehabilitation center for abandoned or injured wildlife in Kenya, attracting over 200000 tourists to visit and adopt each year. When staff from the Wildlife Management Bureau patrol the park and discover abandoned or injured young wild animals, they will take them to animal "orphanages" for feeding, and release them to the wild after they grow up or recover.
