  • Researchers at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) have developed a mechanical recycling machine that can turn textile waste into fibers that can be reused to create new products. They're calling it the "Fiber Shredder." Abigail Clarke-Sather, associate professor of mechanical engineering at UMD, is partnering with Goodwill to test this new technology and hopes to see it adopted in thrift stores and municipal recycling facilities across the U.S.
