I think G's new "evolved" design is deliberately meant to make him look and feel as strong as MechaGodzilla. Considering how hard it had G beat in the previous film, it makes sense that he'd look for some way for that not to happen again
@@riccardodessi5387I thought the same thing when I watched that movie. Dude was wrecking shit all over the globe and was exhausted, imagine yourself running a mile as fast as you can and then fighting someone lol
To everyone who thinks Godzilla’s new run is weird, it’s his rapid evolution. He’s constantly adapting to have a supreme body to handle as many challenges as possible. He witnessed the agility of mechagodzilla due to its long arms and slimmer body, which led to Godzilla getting a physique similar as it was clearly a bigger advantage than just being big and bulky. His run is so human like because his arms are now so long that he has to move them like that otherwise their weight would throw him off balance, and his slimmer body makes him lighter so his legs can carry him at greater speeds and take longer steps like a human. Back when his arms were short all they really worked for was mainly scratching and grappling foes. We’ve seen his get slowly thinner with longer arms over every movie, it was just his encounter with mechagodzilla that made him accelerate this change as it immediately became a top priority after that fight. As for his new light show, he feeds on radiation and it looks like he’s getting radiation directly from the hollow earth now based on the glowing gems we saw Kong with in the trailer, instead of the typical surface world radiation that he’s been so used to for god(zilla) knows how long. Everyone is complaining about his new design because they don’t understand his super evolution abilities or the fact that his opponents clearly use the same format that he’s adopting
At first the G-man was massive, sturdy, breathtaking. Now i'm looking at godzilla doing wwe moves. Honestly, now they are so lean and fast they don't feel mighty anymore to me
When you're comparing old godzilla to the new godzillas, the new godzillas movements feel normal where as old godzilla decided "Fuck you gravity" and started flying because yes
yes godzilla running through buildings made me think he was lightweight. what did you expect? do you think it makes sense for ghidorah who is heavier than godzilla to fly? if godzilla cant run?
The Muto's emps weakened gojira in the first film, in KotM we see a full strength gojira at the beginning, then an amped one that had freshly absorbed a thermo-nuke during the last fight. Something to note is that Gojira grows bigger and stronger by absorbing radiation. This was shown in the 1954 nuke and the KotM Nuke. So the Gojira going into GvK was a further powered up version of his KotM version, having finished absorbing all the radiation. Now with the newest movie, apparently he was doing some growth stuff in the artic, evolving maybe? I dunno, but I'm looking forward to it. Regardless of everyone's opinions, its nice that we are exploring this 'monsterverse' godzilla with the new movies and the Legacy of monsters show, AND, we are getting a breath of fresh air regarding Toho Gojira with Gojira Minus One. Even if someone doesn't like the Monsterverse version of Gojira, they must admit that its popularity and success has ushered a new cinematic era for Gojira and Kaiju; and I'm glad to witness it firsthand.

@@0wonder I'll tell you why it's dumb and I'll tell you why _you're_ dumb for buying this "evolved-every-movie" excuse they use just to change Godzilla's look every time to make it fresh and new because the movies suffer in other areas and they know it. People use the same "there's an inworld explanation" excuse about the goofy sprinting shot at the end of the trailer too. They claim he's able to full-on sprint simply because hollow earth when in reality that shot exists entirely for the trailer. They simply needed an action shot like that to use for the trailer and the CG artists have a deadline do they just do it up to par and don't actually think "should Godzilla actually be running like that?" It's literally the same idea as was behind the Wakanda charge shot in Avengers Infinity War. That's the kind of shot they wanted for the trailer, except with Godzilla and Kong. Nobody was thinking "hollow earth has low gravity so lets make Godzilla sprint like he's not a giant hulking lizard!" I can understand Kong being able to run like that because he's lighter and a primate, but Godzilla running like that takes all the seriousness and scale out of it.
I think part of the reason it looks so much stranger in the new trailer is because in previous films, he runs more like we imagine a dinosaur to run, leaning forward so that his back is a bit more parallel to the ground. Obviously his massive tail helps keep him balanced and the forward momentum of his upper half keeps him moving. However, in the newest film, he runs more like a human being. Back straighter, with his arms pumping back and forth at his sides, which humans do in order to help keep our balance and forward momentum. Even though we've never actually SEEN a giant, bipedal atomic dinosaur run before, logic dictates that it wouldn't have to swing its arms to maintain balance and momentum like we do, so it just looks... off.
Logic dictates what? So this giant lizard should hold his front legs (upper legs, smaller legs, whatever you wanna call the upper appendages) next to its body, like some sort of Agama lizard? That would regarding his colossal mass look even more ridiculous actually. The pumping "hands" do make sense. Have you seen his San Francisco fight? More specifically that scene, where he literally grabs on the giant ropes of the Golden Gate bridge? That seemed quite human like, yet still pretty believable from this intelligent creature. If he's capable of grabbing stuff, he should also be capable of doing pumping during his run.
Godzilla series always go this route when they last this long. They get a bit goofy and quirky. But we would not have gotten a lot of iconic monsters if we did not go this route in the past.
As no longer amazed I am to his seemly more weightless moves, I still need to remind myself that Godzilla was literally nerfed so bad in the fight against MUTO because of their abilities to neutralize the radiation while also using it in their EMP mechanic which is why Godzilla can't charge the atomic breath maximumly and oftenly until Ford made a huge explosion to destroy MUTO eggs. Which means Godzilla was exhausted and starving while fighting both MUTOs which nerfed him a lot. So with no other monsters being able to use this ability, this is basically the general level of what Godzilla is capable of: running, going frenzy, and charge atomic breath multiple times
And we’ve sorta been shifting pov for since the last movie where now we are more in the Kaiju pov rather than a human pov so scale and speed are gonna change
Godzilla is adapting and learning haha, He knows and be prepared for another threat that yet to come, and glad that he's getting more and more Powerful tho, especially with His"Millenium" Breath especially ✨🔥
I really like the run from GvK the most 0:36 cuz we can see the steps from Goji that seems appropriately heavy. I also love Mecha's run cuz it's pretty much the same but mechanical of course.
You see, the big problem here is that Godzilla is damn near 400 feet tall. So anything THAT big, moving that fast... it's breaking the sound barrier. This is why large things always look like they're moving more slowly in real life. It loses all semblance of realism when they make something that big move like something our size.
What the f*** is wrong with morons like this nowadays trying to give a realistic scientific explanation to something they do not have reference for? We don't have a giant 400 ft tall reptilian creatures living among us, that we know of, to come to that kind of delusional conclusion. Also it wouldn't matter if we did because this is a f****** movie. Nothing in the media is ever real
In all honesty I think the real problem with The New Empire run is that Godzilla is pumping his arms like a human sprinting when in every other iteration he tends to keep his hands still and outstreched forward which makes him seem more monster like IMO. (Execept for Godzilla v. Kong, but we really only see his legs and afterwards him trying to block missles.)
If you listen closely, MonsterVerse Godzilla's roars is adds with five different Godzilla incarnations from the Millennium Series (1999-2004) such as Millennium Godzilla, Megaguirus Godzilla, GMK Godzilla, Kiryu Saga Godzilla, and Final Wars Godzilla incarnations.
Here, you can see the effect of scale and mass being lost little by little. One of the reason why G14 is my favorite among the monsterverse is that it is set with modern humanity and current technology. We also see Godzilla regularly next to buildings and other objects giving us a scale of how large it is (even if it was inconsistent at some moments but it is worse in KOTM). We also are dealing with thousand tons heavy creatures that would be rather slow moving for their size, but still fast compared to us. The effect of gigantisme is very much felt. It almost could feel real.
Ngl 2014 was the best glad more people like me love 2014 version! The movie was Dark and we could see the kaiju from human pov to put things into scale! His execution was from Brody's view! Gman getting attacked by mutos was from Some soldiers on rooftop pov etc! Really the monsters felt mysterious, powerful and legendary! Now it looks like a videogame cut scene

notice how he has a consistent motion throughout the movies that is broken by the last scene of the GxK trailer? yeah its a valid criticism. doesn't mean the movie won't be great but don't pretend like it isn't a weird shot.
People saying Godzilla is way fast and his hands are big just look at him the scene doesnt even seem like Godzilla is not moving his hands its like naturally moving just look at the run against mecha g and uncontrollable hand movement. They still have a lot of time to improve whats needed to be inproved so yeah this movie will be the best movie of 2023 epic wise.
2014 was filmed like godzilla was actually a giant monster, while the new trend is for more unrealistic camera angles and animation that means the monsters lose all sense of scale. A 100 meter monster shouldn't be moving quickly, because even when he's moving slowly the speeds involved are immense.
i think another point with the new clip is that, the dirt being kicked up when both are running isnt supposed to be dirt. Theyre supposed to be boulders and such basically so the fact they made them have even less debris being kicked up takes away theyre theyre weight and size. these guys are huge but the dirt looks like regular dirt being kicked up. and the angles too something about them is giving off "marvel/dc" vibes. hopefully the cgi and renders etc, get better before release. but all in all pretty psyched, minus one was a perfect "serious" film and this one is like the old shows sort of fun/goofy. but i will miss serious legendary goji
The design basically reminds me of Godzilla 2000 from the Atari games like Godzilla save the earth or Godzilla unleashed, plus his agility could likely feel more light weight here due to the hollow earth having vastly different levels of gravity, that allows more maneuverability compared to the surface.
He's adapting and evolving that's the reason why he's so different in GxK. The reason to that appearance is the response due to many battles he's fought with stronger titans in the past.
Tbh, I like that he's faster now. It complements just how powerful he's become that something so big can move so fast. And I think with things shifting more to the monsters pov, we're starting to view the kaiju as if we were kaiju ourselves. Where before we were viewing from human pov where they seem slow, but from kaiju pov that's fast.
personally I like 2014 the most. each move looks so heavy and each impact have so much weight behind it that it looks like it shook the screen. this last to somewhat in kotm and is gone in GvK. if you are into “power scaling” or whatever then yeah, technically the new, faster version is much stronger but cinematically he just doesn’t feel as impactful anymore.
So uhhh, yall remember when godzilla used to fly with his atomic breath and drop kicked his enemies? him running 50% faster is enough to drop the films entirely?
This doesn’t make sense buddy , If that is the case kong should be running even faster and we know kong is faster than Godzilla In the trailer we see Godzilla competing with Kong in speed when Kong should be more faster . This logic is wrong ..
i really wish they just got the movement down like G14. The GxK theme is fine it’s the movement that makes it look goofy. KOTM movement wasn’t even that bad. They could have at least made Godzilla run like a lizard.
I agree, it was a little bit weird seeing him run like that at first in the trailer but comparing it to that Gidorah sprint its pretty much the same. I think its all about his longer arms, that swing more or something like that.
I really appreciate that Godzilla becomes faster as he gets more powerful. He was terribly nerfed in the 2014 movie bevause of the MUTOS' power to neutralize radiation, therefore preventing Godzilla from using his full potential. Until this point, we only saw Godzilla using his full potential in GvK (the Burning form from KOTM was an exception).
Godzilla in 2014 wasn't nerfed. That was the real Godzilla...fans complained that he's atomic breath was lame and the directors had to amp him up for the next movie. 2014s beam was a believable size and power. The later Godzilla is blasting all the way to the center of the earth with his blast...which is cool but rediculious.
In some places in the trailer the CGI is a bit iffy, but I cannot wait for the final project to be released. It will look amazing, I also wonder if this color for Godzilla will be temporary, or if they will keep it for all movies afterwards.
I think all the Legendary films up until now have shown some restraint in the Godzilla running sequences, and although I may be in the minority I think the newer running scene just looks plain stupid. I think the very first Legendary, Godzilla film did the best job at keeping things more rooted in reality, the more recent movies are good but they are also starting to seem a bit goofy in some areas. For me as a 60 years plus Godzilla fan, Toho and Godzilla Minus One now reign supreme and I can’t wait to see where they take it next !
The reason why godzilla looks so weird in the new movie is because he evovled to have longer arms and a thinner body to be way more agile the same way mecha godzilla was. Godzilla learned a lesson workout while evolving 😂
I kinda miss the one in KOTM where you could feel the weight of a 120 meter monster and he still looked fast, in GvK and GxK he feels like the size of a dinosaur
He was dormant for millions of years, but after the 50s, started moving, his mobility increased as the movies went on, hell, we even saw him get on all 4s and attack Kong in a way which we have rarely seen before, and not to mention, his "hibernation" stage and him becoming more agile might be him evolving after fighting against someone like MechaGodzilla who might not have been the strongest but was able to beat him up so badly with his arsenal and his agility.
Yeah if he wasn’t weak before fighting mecha I don’t think he would have evolved because he would struggle less and whoop mechas cheeks. But one of the main reasons he evolved was from hollow earth energy
I feel like some G fans are trying to apply *too* much realism to these films and ignoring just how whacky Godzilla films really can be. I grew up on this guy, and the shit he was capable of doing in the old movies defied physics 😂😂
key words "grew up". Those movies were for kids. Godzilla at its root is always a massive monster struggling to just move around. It's like that in 54, in shin, and in 2014. Those are the movies that made it seem actually mighty and threatening
@@overlord6815 somewhat adapted for kids but made for every public. There’s a difference between Godzilla and Paddington, for example.

Every Godzilla fan: why are you running?! WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?!?!

They simply needed an action shot like that to use for the trailer and the CG artists have a deadline do they just do it up to par and don't actually think "should Godzilla actually be running like that?"
It's literally the same idea as was behind the Wakanda charge shot in Avengers Infinity War.
A bit too cartoony for my likes. I
And we’ve sorta been shifting pov for since the last movie where now we are more in the Kaiju pov rather than a human pov so scale and speed are gonna change

I like that he's been consistently getting stronger over the years. His spikes are bigger, and he has more energy.
That fight with mecha never gets old. So epic
Even superman said big G is faster than he looks in the recent crossover comics

2014 was filmed like godzilla was actually a giant monster, while the new trend is for more unrealistic camera angles and animation that means the monsters lose all sense of scale. A 100 meter monster shouldn't be moving quickly, because even when he's moving slowly the speeds involved are immense.
I like how the monsterverse Godzilla never skips leg day.
i think another point with the new clip is that, the dirt being kicked up when both are running isnt supposed to be dirt.
Bro said it perfectly 👏 I agree with everything
The design basically reminds me of Godzilla 2000 from the Atari games like Godzilla save the earth or Godzilla unleashed, plus his agility could likely feel more light weight here due to the hollow earth having vastly different levels of gravity, that allows more maneuverability compared to the surface.
Also the fact that he’s noticeably thinner, with longer arms.
That's what I thought as well.
Millennium Goji had slimmer and more saurian appearance and also pink dorsal fins.
He's adapting and evolving that's the reason why he's so different in GxK. The reason to that appearance is the response due to many battles he's fought with stronger titans in the past.
